It’s that Festive time of year again and londonbikers.com have just thrown their second official Christmas bash, which was held at the Held at the Brazen Head Pub in Paddington on the 20th December 2006. The night was full of fun and frivolities, seeing around sixty members attend. Infinity motorcycles donated a couple of bags of goodies which were raffled off, the proceeds will go to the London Air Ambulance. The night also included the Londonbikers.com Christmas Awards Ceremony.

For the second year running the party went down a storm, the festivities kicked off at around 7pm seeing some very cold members turn up on bikes and brave the misty cold London weather. It didn’t take too long for the atmosphere to get going, the drink to get flowing and LB members mingling together either to meeting existing friends or putting faces to names, or even just to make new friends. Everyone was laughing and chatting, introducing themselves and finding out who was who on the site.

By around 8.30pm the buffet was served and the party was in full flow with DJ Matt Cashmore keeping the music flowing. More food kept on appearing and then disappearing as the happy party goers helped themselves, the spread looked and tasted fantastic. During this time tickets were being sold for the raffle, which was sponsored by Infinity Motorcycles, Great Portland Street. The LB members dipped deep into their pockets and raised a staggering £179.00 for the HEMS London Air Ambulance.

At 9.30pm the music was stopped and the raffle was drawn, seeing one member alone win three prizes! Next on the agenda was the londonbikers.com Christmas Awards, these were given to ten lucky members who had given something back to the community, whether it was a laugh, a charity effort, photography or most input in the forum.

Londonbikers.com Christmas Awards Ceremony

BEST COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTOR:
Flat-out

As well as being the protagonist of the comedians on LB, this person has also been amazingly active in organising summer ride-outs in the UK to various costal destinations, giving us all much-deserved breaks from weekly life. He’s a much-loved character, both with the members and especially the site staff who always have him at the top of their ‘wanted list’?. This award of course goes to Flatout!

BEST CHARITY EFFORT:
Barro

There’s more and more charity events being taken part in and organised by LB members. For many, this is a great way for us to turn our passion for biking into something good for everyone. This year there were quite a few nominations, but in our eyes, there is only one winner, and that’s the way everyone came together for the Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, organised primarily by Barro. Thank-you Barro for doing us proud!

MOST INTERESTING AVATAR:
Adam H

Avatars are changed nearly every day by many members, but few stick in our minds for very long. This year, the baby in the Army Helmet avatar has stood out among the masses for its comedy factor. Thanks Adam H!

BEST ANNUAL JOURNEY:
CharlyBR600-RR

This member has organised a number of ride-outs to France this year for us, helping us finding the best routes, restaurants and helping along with the locals. Everyone who’s attended their ride-outs has had a great, and safe time. For this award, the ride-out in question is the summer-run to St Omer with 25 happy and safe members who had a great time. This award goes to CharlyCBR600-RR of course! We hope he continues to tour us around Europe next year…

MOST ACTIVE MEMBER:
Da Artist

The most active member during 2006 has had a very tough year, but has entertained us with his wide-ranging posts of the highs and lows of riding in London. He’s also been an inspiration to many of us with his optimism and get-up-and-go attitude considering the things he’s had to go trough. This award is for Da Artist!

MOST ACTIVE NEWBIE:
SheWoolf

Whilst most newbie’s tend to dip a toe in the water and ease themselves in slowly, this member has jumped in at the deep end and been extremely active from the off, not having stopped talking since she joined! She’s also earned her place as a Host, which we welcome her to! So congratulations SheWoolf.

LB CRIMEFIGHTER:
Trojan

There were a few nominations for this award, but this person has been with londonbikers for some time now, and has quietly been helping to advise people on how best they can protect their bikes and selves from the scallies of London town, and is a man with inside-knowledge (of the legit kind) of the criminal underworld. Thank-you Trojan!

LB LIFE SAVER:
BabyJ

There have been more times than we can remember when members have urgently needed to get advise on gear or needed new gear, and one person has stepped in to offer their expert advise and cut many a GREAT deal for us. With this in mind, we award BabyJ as our life-saver this year!

MOST CONSISTENT CRASHER:
Oli Twisted

Bikes go tits-up every now and then, and most of the time we try to laugh it off and put it down to experience. Luckily this year we’re happy that there have been fewer crashes on the road, though if we’re to give anyone this award, it has to go to one of the LB racers. They’ve had a very up and down year whilst racing, starting off with a magnificent t-boning of a bike and going super-man at Brands Hatch, to a huge barrel-role on his new race bike. Thanks for the entertainment and good luck next year Oli Twisted!

BEST PHOTOGRAPHY:
Andrew&7

This was a hard-call to make with so many great photo galleries being published on LB now, especially from all the best racing going on in the UK, and as far flung as the states. Along with others, this person has been getting cold and wet at most of the British Superbike rounds getting all the best photos for us to enjoy. His style of capturing the action has left us in awe, thank-you Andrew and congratulations!

We would like to thank everyone that came along and joined in the fun and congratulations to all that won awards. Also, we’d like to say a very big thank you to Geraldine and all of the staff at the Brazen Head Pub for shutting the pub for our party, the fantastic food and all of their hard work.
