The 2008 Annual Dirt Bike Show has been deemed a huge success by the manufacturers, retailers and the paying public. In the middle of the credit crunch it was unknown how this year's show would fair up and despite the economic crisis the Dirt Bike Show pulled in around 18'000 people over the four day period.?
150 stand holders were present at the ninth annual show, with an array of new models for the 2009 season plus a packed retail hall, the exhibitors were happy with proceedings after what has been a dismal and quiet year for everyone. ?
?The Dirt Bike Show attracted the MX1 and MX2 British Champions, Billy Mackenzie and Shaun Simpson. They were joined by Josh Coppins, Bryan Mackenzie, Jamie Law, Gordon Crockard, Tom Church and many others, the fans were extremely happy after getting their autographs and pictures with their heroes. The show also brought in a number of road racing stars over the four days including 125 Moto GP racer, Bradley Smith, World Superbike runner up Troy Corser and World Supersport runner up Jonathan Rea plus British Superbike star Leon Haslam. Charley Boorman made an appearance on the Saturday and was eager to see the new range of machinery and he also participated with the on stage interviews.? ?
The Live Action Arena was packed throughout all four shows each day and the crowd were entertained by the antics of the wild Purple Helmets, who were a huge hit with everyone. Stunt trials rider Steve Colley gained some gasps from the crowd with his trials riding skills and riding without his front wheel and forks. ?
?One of the organisers of the show, Dave Watson from Promoto commented "In these uncertain times it is great that visitor numbers remained buoyant and that there is still plenty of interest in the off road market, even though people may not have as much disposable income to spend. Judging by our visitor survey people had had a great day out."
