MotoGP's Toseland Helps Local Biker Win a Years Free Riding

Christmas has come early for Northampton resident, Marc Nelson, who has become one of five lucky recipients of a year’s free motorbike insurance from Bennetts. The factory machine operator scooped a year’s free cover, in part thanks to MotoGP star James Toseland, who was visiting the Bennetts call centre as part of the promotion on the day that Marc won. As the nation struggles in the grip of the credit crunch, Bennetts, the nation’s favourite bike insurance provider, has been saving bikers money throughout April by re-imbursing five motorbike insurance policies daily. As part of the unprecedented giveaway, Marc’s was one of the five policies refunded on 8th April, meaning he will save a whopping £795.01 on his policy over the next year.

Nina Prinz Takes Impressive Win At Misano On YZF-R1

During the first round of the European Championship Road Racing Women’s 1000cc held at Misano Adriatico (Italy) last weekend, Nina Prinz (Team Yamaha Motor Germany) debuted on the R1 and took it to an impressive victory. The reigning European champion, from Mannheim/Leutkirch in Germany, had been consistently fast during all qualifying sessions and dominated throughout the weekend, even during qualifying where she competed against many men from the open class.

6th Yamaha Race Training Sees Biggest Turn-Out Yet in Valencia

Last week at a sunny Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia on Spain’s east coast, a gathering of Yamaha racing teams and riders from thirteen countries occupied thirty-one pit-boxes at the MotoGP venue to take part in the sixth edition of the distinguished YRT (Yamaha Race Training) programme. Fifty teams and one hundred and one riders from national Supersport standard to FIM Superstock 1000 level meant that over three hundred personnel filled the site. The objective was to improve the participant’s understanding in terms of the technical set-up and tuning of the 2008 YZF-R6 or the 2007/2008 YZF-R1 for Supersport, Superbike and FIM Superstock competition.

BOS Silencers For Honda CBR600-RR & Yamaha R1 ’07

BOS exhausts of the Netherlands have introduced aftermarket silencers for two of the most popular 2007 model sports bikes, the Honda CBR600-RR and Yamaha R1. Both are styled to enhance the appearance of the machines and deliver a more aggressive exhaust note in a road-legal package. BOS has been manufacturing exhausts since 1965 and uses the absorption type of silencer, which produces a distinctive sound without breaking strict European noise limits. Every silencer is specially designed for the make and model of motorcycle, with its own specific inside diameter tube, length and damping material. BOS pioneered removable ‘dB eaters’ 10 years ago and this design concept has been adopted by most of the leading exhaust manufacturers.

Corser Tries The Stock Yamaha R1 And R6

Troy Corser recently got the chance to compare the new 2007 YZF-R1 to his own Yamaha Motor Italia WSB bike and was pleasantly surprised by his findings. The two-time World Superbike Champion was attending an exclusive event for a selection of VIP Yamaha guests when he grabbed the opportunity to try the R1 and the R6 for size. The two-day event took place at the Valencia circuit, which is familiar to Corser as it features on the World Superbike calendar, and gave selected riders from around Europe the opportunity to ride the track with tuition provided for free.

Edwards And Haga Reunite For Suzuka 8-Hour

Yamaha has finalized its plans for round five of the 2006 Endurance World Championship, the Suzuka 8-hour race held at the Japanese circuit on 30 July. A three-team entry will be headed by the Yamaha Blue Racing team, which will feature riders Colin Edwards and Noriyuki Haga riding a specially prepared YZF-R1 SP. The event will mark a reunion of the rider pairing which won the event in 1996, when they rode a Yamaha YZF750SP.
