S1 and S2 Title Wrestles Move on to Thessaloniki

Coming back to Thessaloniki's Drive Park this weekend the FIM SuperMoto World Championship sees this and the remaining two Grand Prix of the 2009 season get underway in just five weeks. The pressure remains high among the competitive S1 and S2 rankings including S1 series leader Van Den Bosch and S2 series leader Adrien Chareyre both from France.

Germany Grabs Maiden Win at FIM SuperMoto of Nations

A hard fought FIM SuperMoto of Nations ended with the maiden victory of Team Germany, beating home Team Bulgaria by just two points. Finland made it to the podium with third as Italy slipped from first to fourth at the end of an eventful third heat.

SuperMoto World Championship - Round 6

The sixth and penultimate Grand Prix of the 2009 FIM SuperMoto World Championship will be held in Ottobiano, Italy, instead of Pesaro. The date of the Grand Prix of Lombardia remains set for the October 25 weekend.

Third Chareyre One-One at Wet Latina

Latina's comeback of the FIM SuperMoto World Championship ended with a wet second moto and with another double win of the Chareyre brothers Thomas (S1) and Adrien (S2). As the race format joined the S1 and S2 classes but kept the point system separate, the S1 podium was completed by Championship leader VDB and Hermunen.

Lazzarini and Chareyre Storm to Pole at Latina

Ivan Lazzarini and Adrien Chareyre took today's S1 and S2 poles respectively at a sweltering Latina. Under the Italian heat Thomas Chareyre took second as Husqvarna team mate Hermunen completed the S1 top three. In S2 Gozzini was second ahead of Bartolini.

SuperMoto in Val D’Aosta Cancelled

The awaited thrid round of the FIM World SuperMoto Championships, a Grand Prix scheduled in Val D’Aosta, Italy, has been cancelled leaving a large gap between the last round held in conjunction with the MX GP at Mallory Park at the end of May and the next round at the beginning of September.

Desalle and Musquin on Pole at Crowded French GP

A big French crowd already showed up to watch the opening day of the French GP starting with home rider Musquin’s win in the MX2 qualifying. The result was followed by Belgian Desalle’s maiden qualifying win in the MX1 class with Nagl and Philippaerts rounding up the top three. Cairoli ended seventh ahead of home hero Pichon.

Lierop Bastion Wim Smits Passed Away

Former MAC Lierop President Mr. Wim Smits passed away on Friday, February 27, at the age of 71 due to the consequences of a long illness. Youthstream and its President Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, who have enjoyed an excellent cooperation with Mr. Smits organizing the Motocross Grand Prix’s throughout his 28 years of presidency, offer his family and all his relatives their most sincere condolences for this important loss.

The World Champion is Ready for the 2009 Season

29 year old Belgian Motocross rider Sven Breugelmans is one of the most successful MX3 riders. The two time MX3 World Champion reached both titles as the member of the KTM JM Racing Team. Now the team has moved to the MX2 GP and he had to find the new team. For Breugelmans this will be the sixth year riding the KTM bike.

No SA MX GP in 2009 - Plans for 2010

Due to the very difficult world economical situation, Motorsport South Africa (MSA) and Youthstream have mutually agreed to cancel the FIM Motocross Grand Prix of South Africa for 2009 and indicated that they will closely work together to bring the Grand Prix back to South Africa in 2010.
