Parkes In The Opening Day Top Four
04 April 2008
Yamaha World Supersport Team riders Fabien Foret and Broc Parkes had vastly differing experiences during their first day of practice at Valencia, with Parkes finishing fourth on the time sheets and Foret suffering a slight concussion after a crash. Despite not riding in the recent FGSport tests at Valencia on 13 and 14 March, both Parkes and Foret started brightly in the opening unofficial session this morning, with Parkes fastest of all and Foret only 0.6 seconds behind.

Parkes & Foret Both On Provisional Front Row
29 February 2008 | 1 Comment
Yamaha riders took two of the four places on the provisional front row at Phillip Island, after Fabien Foret and Broc Parkes (both Yamaha World Supersport Team) each set times less than a quarter of a second from provisional pole position man, Andrew Pitt. Parkes, competing at his home race only a week after winning the first round of the World Supersport Championship at Qatar, came closest to the top spot and was only 0.080 seconds from the fastest lap of the first qualifying session. Due to track surface and temperature changes, Parkes could not match the class-leading lap time of 1'34.6 seconds he set in winter testing. Despite not feeling able to push to the maximum right now, his best lap on the all-new Yamaha YZF-R6 today was just over half a second from the current official lap record of 1'34.976.

Parkes Wins On new YZF-R6 As Foret's Forced Out
25 February 2008
Broc Parkes scored a win on the 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 first time out in World Supersport Championship, in a dramatic race that seemed almost certain to go the way of his team-mate Fabien Foret until the very last lap. Foret and Parkes had been looking for a one-two finish almost throughout, with Foret looking all set to win the 18-lap race, until he ran out of fuel on the very last lap. At that time he was leading by over two seconds from Joan Lascorz, Parkes and Craig Jones. Foret and the new Yamaha leave the circuit with the new lap record to their credit, a 2'02.626, set on lap nine.

Yamaha Superbike Teams Are Race Ready

After visiting the Losail International Circuit twice during pre-season tests, Noriyuki Haga and Troy Corser (both Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) appear to be all set for the 2008 World Superbike season. Both riders have shown their speed on the 2008 spec YZF-R1, being top runners in all three pre-season tests at Qatar and Phillip Island. Having worked through various new and updated components and making sure all parts have been properly checked, the team is confident and ready to race.

Parkes Hot At Home As Foret Continues Progress
10 January 2008
Broc Parkes left his home circuit of Phillip Island with the best lap time of the three day test in the Supersport category, while his new team-mate, Fabien Foret (Yamaha World Supersport Team) also made great progress with the new Yamaha YZF-R6. Parkes set a blistering 1’34.6, some 0.4 seconds faster than his closest rivals, and easily inside the previous lap records. Foret found the set-up changes he needed to set his best of 1’35.2 on the very last day. It had been a tough test because of the every increasing temperature, and the fact that since the last test there, the track has become bumpy in places.

Parkes Takes His Season's Maiden Win
07 August 2007
Broc Parkes completed a textbook ride today to take his first win of the season. The victory was made all the sweeter for Yamaha as Massimo Roccoli finished third and Tommy Hill came home in fifth. At the beginning of the race Hill got a good start to take third with Parkes in fourth and Roccoli in fifth. Parkes made quick work of passing through the pack to take second behind Jones within one lap. Having set a new lap record on lap four, Parkes was on the charge towards the lead man when Jones crashed, leaving an open track ahead for the Yamaha rider. From there on it was a textbook ride for the young Australian as he increased his lead over Sofuoglu by 0.3 seconds per lap, eventually taking the win with a 3.6 second margin.

Yamaha Set For Czech Triumph
18 July 2007
The World Superbike Championship goes to Brno this weekend for the ninth round in the 2007 season. Since the last race at Misano in June, the teams have been in the thick of testing at Brno and Vallelunga and are now raring to clarify their race winning potential again. There has been a race circuit at Brno since the 1930s and it first hosted a motorcycle world championship in 1965, though this year will only be the fifth time the World Superbike Championship has stopped at the Czech circuit. Its first appearance on the calendar was in 1993, then 1996 and then it didn't reappear until 2005 when it was the scene of Yamaha's first WSB win, with Haga taking the honour for the team when he went from 18th to win with over three seconds lead.

Noriyuki Haga On Pole For Yamaha
13 May 2007
Noriyuki Haga put in an exceptionally fast lap in today's Superpole at Monza to take his first pole of the season. This success at the team's home circuit was made even better by Troy Corser completing the front row of tomorrow's grid in fourth. The team now goes into tomorrow's race ready to fight for the World Superbike Championship. The day started well with both riders making good progress in this morning's qualifying session. Haga put in several long runs during the qualifying session to check his set-up and took third qualifying position going into Superpole. Corser and his team worked on improving the braking and front end set-up of his bike with the results quickly showing as he moved up from 12th to finish in sixth, with only 0.3 seconds gap up to second.
