First And Second Row Starts Tomorrow For Yamaha In World Supersport

Both Parkes and replacement rider Steve Martin put in excellent performances today to take third and sixth qualifying places respectively on the grid for tomorrow's race. Having both done two long runs during this morning's free practice session to test out two tyre options for tomorrow, the riders went into the second qualifying session of the weekend confident of their setting choices.

Yamaha's Corti Moves Up To Second At Imola

Yamaha Team Italia rider Claudio Corti moved up to second place in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup after a dramatic race in Imola. The 19-year-old from Como finished the race fourth but was moved up to third following the exclusion of race winner Luca Scassa (MV Agusta) for a technical infringement.

Podium Placing Keeps Curtain On Title Track

Yamaha Motor Germany rider Kevin Curtain will go in to next weekend's final world supersport round with an 18-point advantage after finishing third at Imola today. The race was won by championship rival Sebastien Charpentier (Honda), who needed to beat the Yamaha man to keep his title defence alive, but Curtain's sensible ride to his ninth podium of the season keeps him in the driving seat for next weekend's race in Magny Cours.

Corti Win Keeps Superstock Championship Alive

Yamaha Team Italia youngster Claudio Corti took his third win of the season today to keep his hopes of winning the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup well and truly alive. The Yamaha YZF-R1 SP rider won by over three seconds as his title rivals all suffered disasters in Lausitz, moving him to within 22 points of the series lead with two races remaining.

Curtain Closes In On Supersport Crown

Yamaha Motor Germany's Kevin Curtain took a step closer to winning the 2006 Supersport World Championship after extending his lead to 27 points at EuroSpeedway Lausitz. The Australian, who had been fastest in all of the weekend's practice sessions, made a good start from pole position and led for 19 of the 23 laps. Turkish rider Kenan Sofuoglu (Honda) pressurised the Yamaha rider all the way and eventually took the lead on lap 20.

Corti Takes Second 1000cc Win At Assen

Yamaha Team Italia youngster Claudio Corti took his second FIM Superstock 1000 Cup win of the season in a thrilling Assen race. The Italian had looked strong all weekend, placing his Yamaha YZF-R1 SP second on the grid and riding an intelligent race to fend off the challenge of British superstock champion Brendon Roberts (Suzuki). The pair enjoyed a fascinating battle which was settled once and for all when Roberts braked too late trying to make a pass as they went into the final chicane for the last time.

Curtain Takes Championship Lead In Assen

Kevin Curtain did a professional job in difficult conditions to take second place and the championship lead at Assen today, although there was disappointment for his Yamaha Motor Germany squad as team-mate Broc Parkes suffered serious injury after crashing. The experienced Australian finished second in each leg of the two-part race to pull out a seven point lead over defending world champion Sebastien Charpentier (Honda). Charpentier took the chequered flag 'on the road' but finished fourth on aggregate time.

Yamaha's Corti Fourth In Brands Hatch Thriller

Yamaha Team Italia youngster Claudio Corti overcame a bad start to take fourth place in today's sixth round of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup at Brands Hatch. After qualifying in seventh place, Corti found himself down in tenth at the end of the first lap. The 19-year-old European Superstock 600 champion set about cutting through the field on his YZF-R1 SP. By lap nine of the 15 lap race Corti had slotted into fourth place but, with the leaders three seconds ahead, he was unable to challenge for a podium placing.

Yamaha Germany Dominates In Brno Kevin Curtain Leads Broc Parkes

Yamaha Motor Germany riders Kevin Curtain and Broc Parkes dominated today's seventh round of the Supersport World Championship in Brno, taking their Yamaha YZF-R6s to the top two places on the podium and closing in on the lead of the championship. Between them, the two Australians led every one of the 18 laps around the fast and flowing Czech circuit - pressurised only by Turkish rider Kenan Sofuoglu (Honda).

Corti Progresses To Score Points For Yamaha In Brno

Yamaha Team Italia rider Claudio Corti finished 14th in a rescheduled and shortened FIM Superstock 1000 Cup race in Brno. The race was scheduled to take place after the supersport race after being moved from its original morning slot due to delays in the superbike warm-up. A crash on the first lap then saw the race moved again, this time until after the second superbike race, and over eight laps instead of the original 12.

More Points For Corti In Misano For Yamaha

Yamaha Team Italia rider Claudio Corti brought his YZF-R1 SP home fifth in a dramatic fourth round of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup at Misano. Starting from the front row, the 18-year-old Italian led briefly in the opening stages before slipping back as he struggled with set-up problems. After crashing in the morning warm-up, the current European Superstock 600 Champion was forced to race with his spare bike and was unable to exactly replicate the settings of his preferred machine.
