Foret Fights Hard for Fourth
Despite finishing the first lap in 15th position, after being run wide in the first chicane by another rider, Fabien Foret (Yamaha World Supersport Team) battled back to finish fourth and retain his second place in the championship after seven rounds. Broc Parkes looked like a sure podium finisher until he lost the front end on lap nine of the Misano World Supersport race, dropping from second to 17th, before re-starting his stricken machine. Each of the two top Yamaha riders had started from the front row, but in a race littered with crashes and retirements, and conducted in temperatures of 33°C, few pre-race plans came to a satisfactory climax in the Misano cauldron.

Corser & Haga Take Winning Form to San Marino
26 June 2008
After incredible rides at the Nürburgring in Germany both Noriyuki Haga and Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) will be relishing another chance to compete for top honours at Round 8 of the World Superbike Championship at the Misano circuit on the Adriatic coast of Italy this weekend. Despite suffering from a broken right collarbone, plated and pinned before the Nürburgring race, Haga won both races in the German round, only just beating his team-mate Corser in race two. Arguably Corser looked favourite for the win until the track surface started to become wet, but it was still a miracle for Haga to be anywhere near a double win so soon after his big crash in America.

Parkes on the Podium After Class Leading Ride
16 June 2008
Yamaha World Supersport Team rider Broc Parkes came within a few laps of winning the twice delayed and once restarted WSS race at the Nürburgring in Germany, as the Australian rider led for 15 of the 19 laps, running a pace none could match for long periods. He was forced to slow in the final few minutes of the race, and went from a win to a third place finish as a result. His team-mate Fabien Foret, who had started tenth on the grid, ran out a comfortable fourth after a fight with Craig Jones, having lost contact with the leading group in the early laps.

Yamaha Riders go Back to the Future in Germany
12 June 2008
Noriyuki Haga and Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) approach the seventh round of the 2008 World Superbike Championship, at the Nürburgring in Germany this coming weekend, safe in the knowledge that they are as experienced at this circuit as almost any of their peers. Both Yamaha factory riders have raced on the 1998 and 1999 versions of the circuit, located in the Eifel Mountains close to the Belgian border, and will have little difficulty remembering the majority of the layout.

Foret Wins in Style at Monza
12 May 2008
Both Fabien Foret and Broc Parkes posted heroic performances in race conditions at Monza, with Foret taking his first win of the 2008 season, by 1.199 seconds, and Parkes finishing third. Parkes was unsure if he could even ride at all on Wednesday, so his podium finish, his second of the year, was an impressive performance from the tough Australian rider. Foret pulled through from fifth after an imperfect start to overhaul early leaders Josh Brookes and Parkes, and after taking a firm grip on the lead on lap nine the winning result was never really in doubt. Parkes had a pretty lonely race after putting up a spirited defence of his early leading position, fighting with Brookes for much of the time. He finished only six seconds from victory, and five seconds ahead of the next best rider, Andrew Pitt.

Foret & Parkes Well Placed After Day One at Monza
09 May 2008
Yamaha World Supersport Team riders Fabian Foret and Broc Parkes finished second and third respectively after the first day of qualifying at Monza, after a busy period of action at the classic Italian parkland venue. Air temperatures hit 28°C during the qualifying session, in which 37 riders attempted to qualify for Sunday's race. Foret was held up at the Lesmo corners on his fastest lap, losing some time to fastest qualifier Joshua Brookes.Foret is happy with his basic machine set-up and aims to take his first win of the year on Sunday.

Foret & Parkes Almost There At Assen
28 April 2008
Fabien Foret and Broc Parkes, both from the Yamaha World Supersport Team, were tantalisingly close to a podium finish apiece at Assen, after a classic high-speed multi-rider battle for the win, which finally went to Andrew Pitt. Foret was only 0.201 seconds from victory itself, in fourth place after 21-laps. He had fought through from a bad start, completing the first lap down in 13th place. Parkes finished only 0.283 seconds from the win and his fifth place means that both riders scored good points in the championship chase, after starting from the front row of the race. Parkes had to ride with a fractured left hand, after a Friday practice crash, and battled manfully in the first few places for almost the entire race, even after losing power from his left hand as the race progressed.

Parkes Fastest Despite First Day Fall
27 April 2008
Yamaha World Supersport Team rider Broc Parkes secured provisional pole at the fast and flowing Assen circuit, despite a heavy high-speed fall in the free practice session earlier in the day, at the double right corner before the final high speed section of the 4.555km circuit. The 26-year-old Australian rider secured a time of 1'41.416, 0.352 seconds ahead of Gianluca Nannelli, using settings the team had arrived at after a two-day test at Assen last week.

Foret 2nd At Valencia, Parkes Second On Points
07 April 2008
Fabien Foret secured a battling second place for the Yamaha World Supersport Team at Valencia today in a delayed race at the 4.005km circuit in Spain. In addition to Foret's podium, which looked unlikely after he suffered a big crash and slight concussion on Friday, his team-mate Broc Parkes went second in the championship overall by taking fourth place after a solid race. Although neither rider felt that they had the perfect set up to maximise grip on the ever-changing Valencia circuit, each was able to secure important points on yet another day when many of the pre-season favourites made no scores.

Parkes Takes Top Four On the Valencia Grid
05 April 2008
Yamaha World Supersport Team rider Broc Parkes secured an important front row start for tomorrow's 23-lap Valencia race, while the good news for his team-mate Fabien Foret is that not only was he able to ride today, but he came also close to taking a second row start.

Parkes In The Opening Day Top Four
04 April 2008
Yamaha World Supersport Team riders Fabien Foret and Broc Parkes had vastly differing experiences during their first day of practice at Valencia, with Parkes finishing fourth on the time sheets and Foret suffering a slight concussion after a crash. Despite not riding in the recent FGSport tests at Valencia on 13 and 14 March, both Parkes and Foret started brightly in the opening unofficial session this morning, with Parkes fastest of all and Foret only 0.6 seconds behind.

Foret Just Misses Podium As Parkes Crashes Out
02 March 2008
A breathtaking 21-lap World Supersport race at Phillip Island provided very different fortunes for the Yamaha World Supersport Team's riders, Fabien Foret and Broc Parkes. Foret overcame a poor start and went from sixth on lap one to the lead on lap 20, only to be swamped by riders as the finish line approached. He ended round two a strong fourth, only 0.780 seconds from the win, and in a group of six riders covered by only 1.228 seconds. Broc Parkes was looking good for another podium finish to go with his race win at Qatar last weekend until he fell under braking into the tight downhill right hand MG corner on lap two while leading. The tough Aussie rider remounted to try and score some points, but was forced to stop after entering the pits to check his machine over.

Parkes & Foret Earn Front Row Starts
01 March 2008
A tense final qualifying session held under the warm Australian sun ended with both Fabien Foret and Broc Parkes able to start tomorrow's 21-lap World Supersport Championship race from the front row. Each rider had to push hard in the latter stages to set their best time of the weekend, with the Yamaha World Supersport Team's combined efforts putting both its riders on the front row for the first time this season. Foret and Parkes each found a lack of grip from the 4.445km Phillip Island track surface, despite having had a highly positive test in the winter months on their all-new Yamaha YZF-R6 machines.

Parkes Takes Championship 2nd For Yamaha
08 October 2007 | 3 Comments
Second place in the race was enough today for Broc Parkes to secure second place overall in the 2007 World Supersport Championship. With four of the top six riders on Yamahas, including Hill who finished in fifth, today's result shows the strong performance of the R6. Both Parkes and Hill got good starts with them taking second and third respectively behind Sofuoglu. Parkes and Sofuoglu proceeded to break away from the rest of the pack and tousle with each other for the win. The two swapped paint as they passed each other numerous times until Parkes' tyre wore off and he had to settle for second. Second place was enough though to secure second championship position for the Australian.

Yamaha 2nd & 3rd in Superstock 1000 Championship Finale
08 October 2007
Claudio Corti and Matteo Baiocco today took second and third championship positions respectively in the Superstock 1000 Cup, reinforcing the R1s performance credentials. This result comes one week after Yamaha claimed the Manufacturers Title in the Superstock 1000 Cup. Having been postponed due to fog, the race was run between the Supersport and second Superbike races. Didier Van Keymeulen got off to a good start and had a good race long battle with Canepa and Corti for the win until he crashed out on lap 11. This left the way open for Corti to take the lead but Badovini stepped in with a successful last-lap challenge, forcing Corti back to second. Unfortunately, Corti's second wasn't enough to secure the championship win for him, with Canepa taking the honours by four points.

Positive Qualifying As Yamaha Five Positions In Top Ten
05 October 2007
Yamaha today had a successful first day of qualifying with the 2007 YZF-R6 occupying five of the top ten grid positions. Parkes was the top-placed rider for Yamaha with second place while RG Team rider Vizziello took fourth and Roccoli took fifth. Team GMT94 rider David Checa came in eighth just in front of Parkes' team mate Tommy Hill. This morning's session had been a good start to the final weekend with Parkes and Sofuoglu challenging each other throughout the morning's free practice session for the fastest time. In the usual rush of activity in the last five minutes, Hill came off best in second place behind Sofuoglu with Checa and Parkes behind in third and fourth respectively.

Yamaha Takes the Title Fight to the Last Round
03 October 2007
The 2007 World Superbike Championship comes to a thrilling finale this weekend at the French circuit of Magny-Cours. The final round of the championship will be played out in true dramatic form with the top three riders all in with a chance of lifting the trophy on Sunday. Only one weekend ago, the race in Vallelunga, Italy saw the championship possibilities left wide open as Haga took a third and fourth while championship leader Toseland could only manage third and 11th. Biaggi also got in on the act when he took first and second to move into second championship place. With only 33 points separating these three riders there is everything still to fight for.

Tough Day At Vallelunga For Yamaha
30 September 2007
Parkes claimed fourth place in today's Supersport race at Vallelunga despite a weekend of set-up challenges. Tommy Hill had an unlucky crash on the first lap of the race which ended his hopes for the day. Parkes made a good start taking second behind pole man Jones but was quickly embroiled in a battle for second place with Sofuoglu. The two riders passed each other several times in the first few laps before Parkes was forced to settle for third. By lap ten the front two riders had created a 3.4 second lead over Parkes, who was suffering with tyre grip issues. By lap 14 Parkes was fending off a challenge for the third spot by Lascorz, who eventually got passed on lap 17. The race was red flagged on lap 19 due to oil on the track and the result taken from the positions on lap 18 as the race had run two thirds distance.

Corti Shines For Yamaha With First Place
30 September 2007
Claudio Corti took his first win of the season today for the Yamaha Team Italia squad in a spectacular race that gave his home fans some of the closest racing since the start of the season as well as giving Yamaha the 2007 Superstock 1000 Manufacturer Title. Having qualified in second Corti got a good start to maintain his position behind his team mate Pirro, who got the hole shot from eighth through to first. Corti managed to pass Pirro by lap four and the two Yamaha riders were then joined by Aitchison and Canepa in the battle for the lead. Corti fought fiercely with Aitchison while Pirro struggled with his arm, which he hurt in a national championship race in Misano. He gradually went backwards through the pack to finish his tenth Superstock race in eighth.
