Hegarty Fifth for Co-ordit in Henderson Cup
26 August 2008
The August Bank Holiday visit to the picturesque circuit of Cadwell Park proved a tough test for BSB newcomers Co-ordit Racing this weekend (23rd-25th August). The 2.18 mile Lincolnshire circuit is notorious for its compact and intimate nature, the track itself providing the narrowest strip of asphalt that the British Championship riders face each season. The tight, narrow and twisting characteristics provided a stiff challenge to team owner Pete Bradshaw and his mechanics to set up Dean Ellison’s Co-ordit Racing Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbikes.

Kirkham Picks up Another Victory
26 August 2008
Derby's Jon Kirkham extended his Championship lead as the ninth round of the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup suffered two red flag incidents at Cadwell Park (25th August). Kirkham muscled through from his seventh pole position to claim the holeshot ahead of the determined Ben Wilson and Sam Warren at the start of the 12 lap race. As Kirkham looked to extend his lead over Wilson, Gary Mason capitalised with superior drive out of Charlies to claim third from Sam Warren. Edging a clear section of tarmac behind him, Mason settled into a rhythm while Warren continued to hold off the constant pressure from Adrian Coates, Connor Cummins and Dan Hegarty.

Co-ordit Racing - Cadwell Park Preview
22 August 2008
The demanding Lincolnshire circuit of Cadwell Park will provide the next test for BSB newcomers Co-ordit Racing this weekend (23-25 August). The 2.18 mile circuit has historically proved a firm favourite with both racers and fans over the years, who make the annual pilgrimage to the picturesque circuit. For spectators it offers the chance for close trackside proximity and the spectacle of riders literally ‘jumping’ the Mountain section. For riders, Cadwell Park is one of the most physically demanding tracks due to it’s tight, narrow and twisting characteristics that leave little room for error.

Cadwell Next for Ben Wilson
18 August 2008
Following his maiden win in the Henderson R1 Cup at Knockhill recently, Ben Wilson goes into his home round at Cadwell Park on Monday full of confidence that he can repeat his performance to extend his lead in the Autumn Cup and edge nearer to Jon Kirkham who leads the overall championship in which Ben currently holds the runner up spot some 18 points adrift. The Boston rider will also contest the eighth round of the Metzeler National Superstock championship to try and make up ground after his crash at Knockhill. It's been a race against time to get the bike up and running in the short period of time since he returned from the Scottish circuit. The bike was more badly damaged than first thought and had to be sent away to have the chassis checked and straightened and the forks replaced plus new livery made up for a new set of fairings.

Ben Wilson rode to three points-finishes at Oulton Park over the weekend, securing a 7th and 11th in the two Metzeler National Superstock races plus a fantastic second place in the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup, which he dedicated to his good friend Ollie Bridewell who died exactly a year ago on Sunday in a racing crash at Mallory Park. Qualifying for the Superstock races were run in mixed weather conditions with the first session taking preference in the dry, placing Wilson in 10th place just over a second away from pole. Team Co-ordit Improve Steadily
21 July 2008
Dean Ellison returned to Oulton Park, scene of his unfortunate accident during Round Three in May, keen to improve his Championship position as he and the Co-ordit Racing Team aim to steadily improve their fortunes on the Yamaha YZF R1 Superbike package. Changeable weather conditions hampered free practice sessions and a technical gremlin robbed Dean of a top fifteen qualifying spot. An intermittent misfire during his last run, would see the Leicester based rider forced to start from a fifth row starting position for both races. With the declaration of a wet first race, the unseasonal weather once again threatened to spoil the show. Dean opted for slick tyres and put in a spirited performance, scoring two Championship points with a fourteenth placed finish.

Kirkham Dominant at Oulton
21 July 2008
Jon Kirkham took full honours to extend his championship lead at the end of a thrilling 12-lap Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup race at Oulton Park. Lining up on pole position for the fifth time this season, Kirkham looked in confident mood sat astride the new blue liveried Metzeler Championship leader’s YZF-R1. As the lights went out, Kirkham took the holeshot with Ben Wilson in hot pursuit. Once again, Wilson would use all of his aggressive and determined riding style as he attempted to power the Yamaha closer to race leader Kirkham, but as the opening laps counted down and the gap pulled away, it was all that Wilson could do to stay with the hot pace that Kirkham had set.

Co-ordit Racing’s Superbike rider, Dean Ellison will be looking to leave with points on the board rather than the injuries he suffered as an innocent victim back in May.The experienced rider was collected by Steve Mercer’s bike in the closing stages of the second race, scuppering any chance of points and setting the Leicester-based rider back a round through injury. Now, with a string of point-scoring results under his belt, Dean is eager to start moving towards the top ten and up the championship leader board.

The Superstock championship has enjoyed a five-week break from activity, the last action being at Snetterton back in June where Wilson scored a seventh place in the first of two planned outings in the series that day. Set-Up Not Quite Right for Dean Ellison
01 July 2008
Dean Ellison and his crew worked hard to find the optimum setup of his Co-ordit Yamaha R1 superbike - essential for the technically demanding 1.4 mile Leicestershire track which features a number of heavy braking points and slow chicanes (29th June). Keen to score points at his now local race, Dean safely negotiated the opening laps of race 1 determinedly setting his sights on places ahead. By half distance, the gaps were consistently reducing as Dean visibly reeled in the riders ahead. The tactics paid off two laps from home, as Dean moved through to fifteenth, then fourteenth. The destinctive yellow 118 bike crossed the line, gaining another two well deserved championship points and looking to improve for for race two.

Kirkham Claims Spring Cup Title at Mallory
01 July 2008
Jon Kirkham claimed the first Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup Spring Cup title over a thrilling 14-lap race at Mallory Park (29th June). Drama unfolded as the riders circulated round the 1.41 mile circuit on the first of two warm-up laps. A short sharp shower across part of the Leicestershire circuit saw the red flags deployed and proceedings briefly halted. A quick re-start was called as the rain past, with race distance reduced to 14 laps. Championship leader, Jon Kirkham, had the unenviable task of just bringing home' the Jon Kirkham Racing Yamaha R1 in the points to secure the title. But with Warren having an outside chance on paper, and Ben Wilson determined to finish the first half of the season with his first win, the scene was set for some breath-taking action.

Double Donington Delight For Kirkham
25 June 2008
Jon Kirkham recorded his second double of the season in front of a packed house at Donington Park, as the International Round of the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup took place at the British MotoGP (21st June).
