Corser and Haga Take Front Row Starts

After the wet weather endured by all on the first day, warm and sunny conditions for the final qualifying sessions allowed the Yamaha Motor Italia World Superbike riders to easily make it into Superpole, and subsequently earn front row starts for Sunday's Vallelunga races. Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) looked set to extend his record number of pole positions in WSB competition until Troy Bayliss finally just improved on his countryman's best time. Corser's 1'36.730 was only 0.124 seconds from Bayliss, offering the prospect of a close contest between these old adversaries on raceday.

Italian Round Holds No Fears for Yamaha Duo

After taking part in a successful official FGSport test at Vallelunga in July both Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) and Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) will see nothing but opportunities at the final Italian round on the 2008 World Superbike calendar. Corser, who moved into second place in the championship standings after the previous round at Donington Park, will be out to make up ground on long-term championship leader Troy Bayliss, with three rounds left to run.

Corser scores miracle podium in tough Donington weekend

Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) secured a fine third place in the second race at Donington, in what was otherwise a particularly challenging weekend of action at a wet and dry Donington Park. Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) was ruled out of each Donington race after a technical issue in race one saw him penalised for not stopping his machine in time after it developed a fault caused by a rider colliding into him, and then mistiming a subsequent ride through penalty.

Corser Eighth After Wet Donington Qualifying

Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) and Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) will line up eighth and 11th respectively on the grid for Sunday's WSB races at Donington, after a wet Superpole contest full of drama and incident. Corser fell at Craner Curves with only 15 minutes and five of his permitted pitlane exits left to use up, but after sprinting back to the team garage, he got out again on his spare bike to move up to eighth place. On his spare machine he fell on the very last corner on his fastest lap of all, with 30 seconds left to go. Bashed and bruised, he survived otherwise unscathed.

Corser Goes Third After Dramatic Brno Races

Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) moved from fourth to third in the championship standings after securing a second and a fourth place finish at Brno, as his team-mate Noriyuki Haga rode with all his spirit and skill to take sixth in race one and salvage a seventh from a pitlane start in race two. Corser was on top form once more on raceday and in the 500th World Superbike race, the 13 points he took for his race two fourth place put him into overall third place in the championship, 12 points behind Max Neukirchner and 91 behind today's double race winner, Troy Bayliss. Each race saw Corser lead and fight for the podiums, for Haga Brno was a hard fought battle with two brilliant displays of riding to overcome firstly a third row grid position, and then a start from the pitlane.

Pole position starter Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) looked set for his first win of the 2008 season on two occasions at Misano but he had to settle for a second in race one and a good points score of fifth in race two after running off track and ultimately avoiding a crash. He also set a new lap record, 1'37.580, on lap two of race two, which he led for 10 laps. Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) struggled hard in qualifying and the first race, finding himself only 19th after one lap. He recovered to gain six points for tenth. In race two Haga felt he had a better technical package and he made real progress from his grid position of 14th, to hold off his team-mate by just over a second.
