Michelin Men go Back to Business at Brno

While most riders and teams have been taking a bit of a break during MotoGP’s summer recess, Michelin has been hard at work, aiming to commence the final seven rounds of the 18-round season. “Our programme of development is continuous and our target is obviously to achieve ultimate performance” says Jean-Philippe Weber, Michelin’s chief of motorcycle racing. “We will return to the types of construction that we used at places like Qatar and Catalunya, these are constructions that deliver a much wider working range than those which we used at Laguna Seca. So we will use the type 20 of construction that has already brought us success this year, with front and rear compounds adapted to Brno."

Michelin Men Get to Know Indy

Michelin’s MotoGP test team visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time on July 1st and 2nd to test tyres in readiness for the inaugural Indy MotoGP event scheduled for September 14th. The two day session between the Dutch and German MotoGP rounds was scheduled thanks to new regulations which allow tyre manufacturers to test at tracks which haven’t previously featured on the World Championship calendar. “These tests are a good thing,” said Jean-Philippe Weber, Michelin’s director of motorcycle racing. “They allow us to get an initial feeling for the track. They also allow us to better understand the track and they give us an idea of how the race weekend will go.”

Suzuki Clinches Endurance Title

Suzuki has won the 2007 World Endurance Championship after finishing second at the Bol d'Or 24 Hour race at Magny Cours in France. Defending Champions Suzuki Endurance Racing Team - Vincent Philippe, Matthieu Lagrive and Julien da Costa - recovered from a crash five hours into the penultimate and fifth round, which put them down in 40th position, to fight back into second place behind race winners Yamaha GMT 94 as the GSX-R1000 riders' closest championship rivals Kawasaki France retired during the night.

Suzuki Spank It At Le Mans!

Suzuki's new GSX-R1000K7 dominated the opening round of the World Endurance Championship at Le Mans in France with both Suzuki Endurance Racing Team entries finishing first and second at the end of the gruelling 24-hour race. SERT's number two team of William Costes, Guillaume Dietrich and Max Neukirchner crossed the finish line at 15.00hrs local time with total of 818 laps completed, just 1:19.938 minutes ahead of reigning World Champions SERT number one, comprising Vincent Philippe, Matthieu Lagrive and Julien Da Costa.
