Laconi Seventh As Nieto Doubles Up
01 October 2007
Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) scored the single best Kawasaki rider finish at Vallelunga with a seventh in race one, but his regular team-mate Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) scored a pair of eighth places to make the biggest mark in the points haul. Laconi slowly fell to earth in race two after outbraking himself into the corner after the back straight, while third team rider at Vallelunga Vittorio Iannuzzo (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) was a more than respectable tenth and 12th in the two 24-lap contests.

Points For All PSG-1 At Brno
25 July 2007
The three-rider PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse squad all took home points from the Brno weekend but a change in the weather conditions for raceday and some mishaps mid-race meant that only Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) got a top ten finish, with eighth in a shortened race two. Fonsi was forced out of the first race after experiencing a technical problem, and despite a few concerns in race two he made it to the finish well inside the top ten.

Nieto Best Kawasaki Qualifier In Czech Republic
22 July 2007
Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) ended his Superpole qualifying session in 12th position, and thus starts Sunday’s 20-lap Superbike races from the third row of the grid. Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) found it difficult to change direction in the fast chicanes and corners that litter the Brno circuit, and dropped from ninth in regulation qualifying to 15th in Superpole.

Brno Welcomes Kawasaki Superbike Riders
18 July 2007
The endless fast chicanes and elevation changes that characterise the Brno racetrack are already well known to both Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) and Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) and each rider has also enjoyed track time there this year, at recent official development team tests. With eight rounds completed to date, Laconi is the highest-placed Kawasaki rider in the series, in 11th, with a personal best in an individual race of fifth. Nieto is 14th, also with a best of fifth in race trim, which he took at round one in Qatar.

Laconi Into The Top Six In Vallelunga Tests
09 July 2007
The new venue of Vallelunga proved to be a stiff test for all 17 World Superbike riders who attended the official test session, and despite the often tight and twisting layout of the unknown circuit, Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) finished sixth in the overall ranking. Laconi made positive steps with his overall machine set-up at Vallelunga, but had to ride hard to get into the upper echelons of the final results, especially on a track surface which reached over 50°C on occasion. The peculiar mix of fast and slow corners at Vallelunga was a particular obstacle to overcome at these tests, but the lessons learned will nonetheless make the task of finding a set-up for the race itself in late September a more straightforward one.

Nieto Just Outside The Top Ten After Tense Superpole Fight
27 May 2007
Having qualified seventh after the pre-Superpole sessions, Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) expected to make a similar showing in Superpole at Silverstone. Nieto was ultimately disappointed to finish 11th quickest in what was a blistering Superpole contest, after finding that he had made a less than perfect tyre choice almost as soon as his out lap had started. Nieto now knows that he needs to make two good starts in Sunday’s 28-lap races to get into contention for a top finish, but is prepared to meet the challenge of Silverstone head on, after finding good settings in race trim.
