The third and final day of testing for Vittoriano Guareschi and Sete Gibernau concluded today at Mugello, with the Spaniard taking advantage of good weather conditions to clock up 50 laps and record a best time of 1'51.7. After two days of changeable weather today the sun finally stayed out and allowed the pair to get through the entire programme of work they had scheduled for the GP9.

A three-day session for the Ducati Test Team began today at Mugello, where factory test rider Vittoriano Guareschi was joined for the first time by Sete Gibernau. Gibernau clocked up twenty laps with the Desmosedici GP9, recording a best time of 1'53.7 before the session was interrupted by rain. Despite a long absence from the sport and the opportunity to complete only a handful of laps today, the Spaniard's first contact with the GP9 was a positive one.

Gibernau Will Join Guareschi in 3-Day Test at Mugello
12 June 2008 | 1 Comment
Sete Gibernau will test at Mugello from 17th-19th June. The Spanish rider expressed his desire to get back on track during a brief visit to the Catalunya paddock last weekend, and offered the Ducati MotoGP Test Team a welcome opportunity to intensify its development program. As a result, Gibernau, who knows the D16 very well, and was one of the first to test the GP7 in Motegi in September 2006, will join official test rider Vittoriano Guareschi during next week test session. This initiative will allow the team to gather important data during a period when official GP riders will not have the possibility to test due to the busy racing calendar.

Positive End To Testing For Ducati Marlboro
11 June 2008
The second and final day of testing at Catalunya concluded today, with the teams getting their final opportunity to run back-to-back tests with a Grand Prix until the end of August at Brno. It has been a crucially important test for the Ducati Marlboro Team, with both their factory riders getting the chance to try technical developments aimed at the 2009 season. It has also been a hugely positive tyre and set-up test for Casey Stoner with his current machine, the GP8. In spite of less-than-perfect track conditions caused by light but intermittent rain showers, the Australian was able to try some new electronic solutions and set an excellent pace, clocking the fastest time of the day with a 1'42.180 lap on race tyres.

Schumacher Gets Back On The Desmosedici
03 April 2008 | 2 Comments
Italian test rider Vittoriano Guareschi was unfortunate enough to suffer a fall during day two of a three day test session for the Ducati Corse Development Team at the Mugello Circuit and, although it didn't leave him seriously injured, a bad knock to his coccyx meant that he was unable to ride comfortably. This allowed the seven times F1 world champion Michael Schumacher to climb back on board the Desmosedici GP8.
