Virgin Makes Positive Strides At Mallory Park

For the first time in the pre-season schedule, the full compliment of Virgin Mobile Yamaha Racing riders took to the Leicestershire circuit today, 9 March, to put new machinery through exhaustive tests. Although Virgin Mobile Yamaha had completed a shakedown test at Croft two weeks previously, James Haydon had been called away on the eve of the test to attend the birth of his daughter. For James, today was the first opportunity to familiarise himself with the 2007 Yamaha YZF-R1.

Pirelli Gives Virgin-Racing Full Factory Support

Italian tyre manufacturer, Pirelli, has pledged full factory support to Virgin Mobile Yamaha for the 2007 season. With riders competing in three classes of the British Championships this coming season, a strong working relationship between Virgin Yamaha and Pirelli will be established on both a competitive and R&D level.

New Supersport Challenge For Virgin Mobile Yamaha

Haydon Flies Home With Virgin

Virgin Mobile Yamaha is pleased to announce the signing of James Haydon to complete its 2007 British Superbike rider line-up. James Haydon returns to the team after a two-year absence. Haydon, 32, is relishing the opportunity to reacquaint himself with the Virgin Mobile Yamaha team, and reignite a winning relationship, most recently at Knockhill when he last rode for the team in 2004. This victory capped off a remarkable year for Haydon and Yamaha, as Haydon finished in 8th position after joining the championship at the mid-point of the season.

Great Finish To A Fantastic ‘Rookie’ Season

Billy McConnell ended his first year in the premier class with a fine 3rd place podium finish at Mallory Park ‘Race of the Year’ yesterday, 15/10/06. This end of season fun race was well supported with World Superbike Star Chris Walker having a guest ride with Suzuki, Cal Crutchlow (Ex Virgin Cup graduate) getting his first Superbike ride on his Suzuki, Honda fielding Johnny Rea and TT legend John McGuinness.

Battling Tommy Hill

Tommy Hill’s luck ran out with ten miles remaining of the 2006 season! There were only 3 laps left of the final Superbike race at a weather beaten Brands Hatch yesterday when Tommy crashed out, ending a fantastic season nursing some heavy bruises. The weekend was proving to be a great finale to an incredible season. 21 year old Tommy rode amazingly in treacherous conditions, where more seasoned campaigners were making mistakes and finished a very credible fourth in the first leg, behind new British Superbike Champion Ryuichi Kiyonari, Leon Haslam and Jonny Rea.

Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha Have Flying Start To Final Round!

Both Tommy Hill and Billy McConnell made fantastic starts to their Brands Hatch campaign this weekend (29 September - 1 October). Lead rider for Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha, 21 year old Tommy Hill was fourth fastest behing Kiyonari, Harris and Byrne in the first practice session with Team mate Billy McConnell less than a second behind him.

Frustrating Weekend For Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha At Silverstone

It was not the weekend Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha had hoped for at Silverstone this weekend (16-17 September). The team had high hopes for the weekend as Tommy Hill had really good pace on race tyres during the qualifying session and started from a fantastic fifth on the grid. Billy McConnell equalled his best ever qualifying position in twelfth.

Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha are hoping the Northamptonshire circuit will bring them their best set of results this season for the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Silverstone this weekend. The 2.213 mile Silverstone circuit holds happy memories for lead rider 21 year old Tommy Hill who was on pole position as a wildcard in the World Superbike Championship earlier this year.

Kieran has struggled to regain his confidence after a disastrous 2005 season and a winter testing crash. Team Virgin Mobile endured one of the toughest weekends of the season at the North Yorkshire race venue Croft. Gale force winds and torrential rain played havoc with the riders' confidence and set up, the roasting hot temperatures of summer were replaced by a cold wind the likes of October, causing problems with tyre temperature and feed back.

Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha's Tommy Hill will start from seventh place on the grid for the tenth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Croft in North Yorkshire tomorrow. (Sunday 13th August.) A fast pace in the afternoon qualifying session meant times fell more than a second under the pole position time set in 2005. Honda’s Jonathan Rea went fastest clocking up a 1:19.433 lap, 1.2 seconds under last year’s pole position time.

Tommy Hill the Virgin Mobile Yamaha No 1 rider continued to make his mark in the world of Superbike racing this weekend (5/6 August). Brands Hatch in Kent was the venue for the eighth round of the Corona Extra FIM World Superbike series. Historically Brands Hatch has proved to be the biggest World Superbike event in their season and a perfect stage for the 21 year old Surrey rider to make an impression, and he did not fail to deliver!

Yamaha Motor Italia rider Noriyuki Haga thrilled the large and passionate Brands Hatch crowd by taking his YZF-R1 to a spectacular win in the eighth round of the Superbike World Championship today. Team-mate Andrew Pitt rode brilliantly to take a hard fought third place to give the team its second double podium finish of the season.

Yamaha Motor Italia rider Noriyuki Haga is hopeful of repeating his last visit to Brands Hatch, where he won a race in the season's most exciting meeting, after claiming a front row start in superpole today. The Japanese star only narrowly missed out on his second successive pole position, losing time as he fought to control a massive slide on his grid-deciding lap. Haga lost a few tenths of a second in the incident but was able to compose himself and set his fastest lap of the weekend - an impressive 1:25.857.

Yamaha Motor Italia riders Noriyuki Haga and Andrew Pitt continued their splendid run of form today, blasting their Yamaha YZF-R1s to provisional front row starts at Brands Hatch today. Both riders featured at the top of the timesheets throughout the two one-hour practice sessions as they worked on finding the ideal settings for Sunday's two 25-lap races around the challenging British circuit.
