Toal Ready for Action at Brands

Virgin Media Yamaha's BJ Toal will take to the Brands Hatch GP circuit for the second time this season, for the re-scheduled opening round of the 2008 Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship (10th/11th May). The 19-yr old is high on confidence after a mature and determined sixth place finish in difficult conditions at Oulton Park over the May Bank Holiday. BJ will be the sole representative for the Virgin Media Yamaha Supersport team this coming weekend, as teammate Nick Medd is recovering from illness. The Biddulph based rider suffered the effects of a virus at Oulton and has since undergone a series of blood tests and examinations to determine the cause.

Mature Performance for Toal

BJ Toal will carve a lone figure for Virgin Media Yamaha o the grid for Sunday's 16-lap Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport race (5 May). The Omagh rider completed his most successful qualifying of the season so far during the first 35-minute session. BJ made excellent progress at the Cheshire circuit during the wet session, running inside the top ten for the majority. His lap time of 1:50.160s on his penultimate circulation saw him move up to second, before a last gasp provisional pole lap from Marty Nutt nudged BJ back to third.

Virgin Media Yamaha crosses the country from its Scunthorpe HQ to Oulton Park in Cheshire this weekend to contest round 3 of the 2008 Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship (3rd-5th May). BJ Toal and Nick Medd will be in the hunt for their first point-scoring ride of the season after difficult times at Thruxton two weeks ago. Both riders faced an uphill battle after a second qualifying session pockmarked with red flag incidents left them further down the grid order than early performances warranted.

The Virgin Media Yamaha Supersport pairing of BJ Toal and Nick Medd struggled to get to grips with the notoriously fast Thruxton Circuit as the 2008 season finally got underway today (20th April). The reigning Virgin Media Yamaha R6 Cup Champion, BJ Toal showed early promise in the wet free practice sessions. The19-year old from Omagh qualified in 10th position in the first of the two sessions. However, the second session produced four separate red flag incidents and BJ struggled to get any clear track time relegating his overall qualifying position to 25th.

Virgin Media Yamaha pairing of BJ Toal and Nick Medd face an uphill battle for tomorrow's 18-lap British Supersport season opener after a difficult qualifying session full of red flag incidents today, 19 April. After a promising conclusion to the morning qualifying session, BJ Toal went into the afternoon proceedings lying in a strong tenth position. However, a series of red flag incidents interrupted the 19-year old's rhythm. Gambling with an intermediate Pirelli tyre during the drier periods did not pay off and the 2007 Virgin Media Cup champion dropped down the order to finish in 25th.

Virgin Media Yamaha will make the long journey south from Team headquarters in Scunthorpe to Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire to contest the second round of the 2008 British Supersport Championship, this weekend (18-20 April). After the frustrations of the opening round at Brands Hatch two weeks ago, BJ Toal and Nick Medd will be hoping for more favourable weather condidtions in order to finally mount their respective 2008 campaigns. As the 2007 Virgin Media Cup Champion, BJ Toal has taken the step up to the competitive Supersport category in his stride. The Omagh-based rider is relishing the challenges ahead of him and has already proved that he can cut the mustard with more seasoned riders with a string of impressive lap times under his belt from the opening exchanges in Free Practice and Qualifying at Brands Hatch.

Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha rider Tommy Hill stole through to qualify in the top ten ahead of round 8 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire yesterday, 14 July. Friday's Free Practice had been blighted by persistent rain, with conditions worsening throughout the afternoon. Saturday morning saw a change of fortune in the weather, as the riders took to the 2.69-mile circuit in brilliant sunshine. But despite the favourable change in track conditions, a lost day of dry track time hindered the team's progress a little. The main focus of the weekend had been finding the optimum set-up with the brand new chassis.

Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha has agreed to release Hudson Kennaugh in order for him to continue his challenge for the 2007 National Superstock Championship with Raceways Yamaha. Hudson joined Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha for round 4 at Oulton Park at the beginning of May. During his short spell with the team, Hudson collected four point scoring finishes in his last five races on board the Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha YZF-R1.

Superb Debut Podium For Tom Grant

Tom Grant gambled on improving weather conditions to secure his first podium finish ahead of team-mate Billy McConnell at Knockhill today, 1 July. The torrential rain had disappeared to leave a rapidly drying track as the Virgin Media Yamaha Supersport riders lined up next to each other on the third row of the grid. Both Tom and Billy had opted for a dry tyre combination, a decision that would prove to pay dividends during the second half of the reduced 20-lap race.

McConnell On Pole At Mondello

Virgin Media Yamaha Supersport rider, Billy McConnell claimed his second pole position of the British Supersport season at a wet Mondello Park near Dublin in Ireland today (16 June). McConnell topped the time sheets early into the first qualifying session only momentarily slipping back to fifth. However, Billy fought back with a lap time two seconds faster than his competitors to put his Yamaha YZF-R6 back in provisional pole position. Billy continued to improve on his blisteringly fast pace to leave him as the only rider in the 1:50's and over a second faster than the rest of the field.

Virgin Media Yamaha's Billy McConnell Romps To Debut Pole

Billy McConnell emphatically romped to his, and Virgin Media Yamaha's, first British Supersport pole position at round three of the British Supersport Championship today, 28 April, at Silverstone International circuit. With fourteen minutes left on the clock, Billy slotted in a Pirelli rear qualifier to his Yamaha YZF-R6, and instantly posted a superb time of 1:28.219. Despite a late surge from Dennis Hobbs and Martin Jessopp, Billy's time held firm to land pole for Sunday's race by almost half a second.

Tommy Hill Third Fastest At Croft Test For Virgin Yamaha!

Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha's lead rider Tommy Hill was third fastest at the Official BSB test at Croft yesterday, just a fraction behind Leon Haslam and Jonny Rea. The ever impressive Hill finished quicker than current BSB Champion Gregorio Lavilla and experienced riders Michael Rutter and Shakey Byrne. Hill's fastest lap of 1:21.035 came in the afternoon session.
