Karl Harris will be riding the factory backed Yamaha in the forthcoming British Superbike Championship which will feature high powered production based machines from six of the world’s leading manufacturers on a starting grid expected to boast a 32 strong rider line-up. The Sheffield rider, a former triple British Supersport Champion, has a strong pedigree in the top flight, having ridden both Suzuki and Honda in Superbikes and now he is excited by the challenge of joining Rob McElnea’s equipe which will also be entering three bikes into the Supersport category.

McConnell Dominates At Brands Hatch Finale

With an emphatic display of true grit and determination, Aussie style, Billy McConnell saved his most determined display of the season until the final round to claim his second race win of the season at Brands Hatch, today (14 October). With the second double Virgin Media Yamaha front row start of the season at Brands Hatch, Billy and Tom slipped in behind the leading duo of Hobbs and McGuinness into Paddock Hill.

Virgin Media Yamaha Supersport rider Billy McConnell capitalised on a two-part race at Donington Park to steal the final step on the podium at the penultimate round of the 2007 Championship (23 September). Starting from the front of the second row, Billy made a slow start, losing a couple of places as he circulated in seventh position. By contrast, Tom Grant maintained pressure on the race leader for the opening exchanges running in a strong third.

Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha Superbike rider Tommy Hill will be reliant upon a good start after qualifying on the third row for the twelfth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship tomorrow (23 Sept). Team-mate, Marty Nutt will make his team debut on the Pirelli-shod Yamaha YZF-R1 from the sixth row of the grid. The 29 year old from Castlerock, Northern Ireland has made the jump from the privateer British Superbike Cup Championship to Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha for the remainder of the season.

Qualifying Cancelled at Mallory Park

Due to the torrential rain experienced throughout the Midlands in the past 24 hours, event organisers MCRCB took the decision to cancel qualifying sessions for round 9 of the 2007 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Mallory Park today, 21 July. After making numerous track inspections throughout the morning, circuit staff set about the task of clearing standing water from both the track and crucial run-off areas. Finally deemed safe to ride, the afternoon was given over to wet weather practice sessions for all classes.

Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha rider Tommy Hill stole through to qualify in the top ten ahead of round 8 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire yesterday, 14 July. Friday's Free Practice had been blighted by persistent rain, with conditions worsening throughout the afternoon. Saturday morning saw a change of fortune in the weather, as the riders took to the 2.69-mile circuit in brilliant sunshine. But despite the favourable change in track conditions, a lost day of dry track time hindered the team's progress a little. The main focus of the weekend had been finding the optimum set-up with the brand new chassis.

Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha riders, Tommy Hill and Hudson Kennaugh fell victim to the circumstances after the weather rapidly closed in early on in the Superbike Qualifying session. With only a handful of laps between them in the dry conditions they qualified in 10th and 14th respectively for round seven of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Knockhill yesterday.

Smart Move Gives Midge Victory at Donington Park

Midge Smart kept his cards close to his chest to pull off a fantastic double and the aggregate win as the Virgin Media Cup took the MotoGP world by storm this weekend, 23 - 24 June. Practice and qualifying proved to be a tough mixed bag as the 26-strong grid took to the 2.5-mile circuit in wet conditions for the first time this season. However, respect must be given to Pirelli as the Diablo III's worked brilliantly in the mixed conditions producing some fantastic lap times, while most riders managed to keep sticky side down.

Words Of Wisdom Give Webb Win

Reigning World Sidecar champion, Tim Reeves was on hand to give James Webb a few words of wisdom before the start of the fifth round of the 2007 Virgin Media Cup at Snetterton today, 20 May. Scott David Paton took the holeshot from third on the grid, followed by Leon Morris who made a blistering start from fourth. James Webb settled into fifth, with BJ Toal in sixth on the Pirelli Diablo R6 for the opening exchanges. South African Dane Hellyer had looked strong all weekend but high-sided out of third and the race at Russell's at the end of Lap 3, offering Webb the opportunity to capitalise as he stole a number of places. Within half a lap Webb had gained the lead on the run in to the Bomb Hole and didn't look back.

Toal Takes Advantage Of Webb’s Mistake

The Virgin Media Cup race would prove once again to be one of the most exciting on the Bank Holiday schedule at Oulton Park, today, 7 May. James Webb took his second pole position in a row, but it was Leon Morris who snatched the holeshot from the outside of the front row. Midge Smart tucked into second, taking the lead with a slick move into Lodge at the end of the first lap. The following lap, James Webb made his move through the pack to move into the lead at Old Hall Bend. The front five runners made a quick break from Hellyer and Hipwell, before a Danny Brill crash at Hislop's chicane left debris across the track and the race was red flagged.

Front Row Start In Supersport For Virgin's Billy MConnel

Billy McConnell lines up on the front row of the grid on his Virgin Media Yamaha YZF-R6 for the fourth race in succession. The 20-year old Australian rider spent the majority of the morning qualifying session vying for provisional pole position. With the track recovering from a brief shower during mid-afternoon, Billy was unable to improve on his time of 1:39.376. Billy's morning time proved unsurpassable and he will line up second on the grid for tomorrow's 16-lap race around the 2.692mile Cheshire circuit.

Webb Steals The Show At Silverstone

The scene was set at Silverstone, 29 April, for an emotional return to the Virgin Media Cup for James Webb. The young Kent-based rider did not disappoint as he dominated the 12-lap race from the lights to take back-to-back wins at the Northamptonshire circuit. James Webb proved his decision to switch classes from Supersport to Virgin Media Cup as the right one, proving too hot to handle for his fellow competitors. Dominant throughout practice and qualifying, Webb destroyed the chasing pack to secure pole position by over a second.

Ryuichi Kiyonari put his bid to retain the Bennetts British Superbike crown firmly back on track as he enjoyed a winning double to end the unbeaten run of former champion Gregorio Lavilla in a dramatic, incident packed third round at Silverstone. The HM Plant Honda rider has a strong pedigree at the Northamptonshire circuit, where a daily double in the penultimate round of last term eased him towards the crown, and, this time around having claimed pole position with a 93.30mph lap was well set for the races.

Billy McConnell emphatically romped to his, and Virgin Media Yamaha's, first British Supersport pole position at round three of the British Supersport Championship today, 28 April, at Silverstone International circuit. With fourteen minutes left on the clock, Billy slotted in a Pirelli rear qualifier to his Yamaha YZF-R6, and instantly posted a superb time of 1:28.219. Despite a late surge from Dennis Hobbs and Martin Jessopp, Billy's time held firm to land pole for Sunday's race by almost half a second.

Tommy Hill stunned the paddock into silence by launching his Pirelli-shod Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha YZF-R1 to his debut pole position and the fastest ever two-wheeled lap at Thruxton, today, 14 April. The reversal of fortune proved a stark contrast to the opening round less than seven days ago. The 22-year old from Lingfield struggled to make in-roads into the top ten in race one, before a mechanical failure forced him out of the second.

Gregorio Lavilla took a stylish winning double in the opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on the Brands Hatch circuit where six months earlier a catalogue of misfortune had seen him lose the chance of retaining the title. The Airwaves Ducati rider was given a stern test by the new breed of British racers, with both Leon Camier and Jonathan Rea, packing the placings as they underlined their potential as title candidates.
