Pegram Pulls Another Holeshot at VIR on Ducati 848

The start at VIR could not have been better for Pegram and the Ducati 848. Pegram's qualifying time put him in the fourth position on the grid and he convincingly pulled the holeshot, leading the early part of the race. Problems with his front brakes caused him difficulties and kept him from staying at the front of the pack.

Aprilia USA Win's SunTrust MOTO-ST Series Race at VIR

The No. 1 Aprilia USA/Lloyd Brothers Motorsports Aprilia Tuono 1000R of Ty Howard and Mike Himmelsbach came from a lap down to win the VIR 500k, the second round of the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series at Virginia International Raceway on Sunday. After crashing one hour into the two and a half hour race, Howard, from Weatherford, Tex., came back to take the lead from the No. 75 Touring Sport Ducati 848 of Doug Polen just six laps from the end of the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series VIR 500k.

Aprilia USA Fastest in First Ever SunTrust MOTO-ST Series Qualifying

The defending SunTrust MOTO-ST Series champions Aprilia USA/Lloyd Brothers Motorsports will start on pole position for Sunday’s VIR SunTrust MOTO-ST 500k at Virginia International Raceway in Danville, Va. In the first qualifying session in the series two-year history Ty Howard of Weatherford, Tex. took the No. 1 Aprilia Tuono 1000R around the 3.27-mile VIR track in one minute, 59.443 seconds for an average speed of 98.557 miles per hour. Howard and teammate Mike Himmelsbach of Quakertown, Penn. won the season opening event at Daytona International Speedway and the No. 1 Aprilia leads the standings in the Buell Motorcycle Company SuperSport Twins (SST) class heading into this weekend’s second round of the series.

Parts Unlimited Ducati's Neil Hodgson finished third in Saturday's AMA Superbike race at Virginia International Raceway. The Ducati 999 pilot eased a hard-earned gap on his rivals and ran a strong race, finishing on the podium at the tight, technical circuit. After fighting with the group that contested fourth place, Neil's teammate Ben Bostrom finished 11th on the day.

Mladin Sweeps Alton AMA Superbikes

Yoshimura Suzuki’s AMA Superbike Champion Mat Mladin completed a clean sweep of the AMA Superbike double-header at Alton, Virginia today while team mate Aaron Yates picked up his first Superbike podium of the year with a second-place finish. Championship leader Ben Spies, racing with a fractured right hand, brought home a strong fourth place and maintained his points lead.

Reigning AMA Superbike Champion Mat Mladin walked away with victory today at the ‘Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals’ at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia from injured Yoshimura Suzuki team mate and series leader Ben Spies. Six-time champion Mladin took the lead on the fourth of 28 laps and opened it up to 19.5 seconds at the end of the 28-lap race – the biggest victory-margin this season.

Formula Xtreme series leader Jason DiSalvo may have said it best. “Formula Xtreme is the most entertaining class in the championship this year.” His point is hard to argue.
