After round one of the FIM Motocross World Championship at Valkenswaard, the Netherlands, on April 6, here are the updated season statistics. MX1 Ken de Dycker made a stunning debut in the bright yellow Teka Suzuki WMX1 colours by dominating the opening weekend of the FIM Motocross World Championship.

Billy MacKenzie's CAS Honda MX1 grand prix debut saw the Scotsman - who will celebrate his 24th birthday tomorrow - just miss out on a podium position as he finished in fourth place overall at the opening race of the MX1 season after two grueling 35 minute plus two lap motos at the Valkenswaard circuit situated 10 kilometers from the Dutch city of Eindhoven.

Team Teka Suzuki WMX1's new boy Ken De Dycker took pole position during qualification for round one of the FIM MX1 world championship at Valkenswaard, Holland on his aluminium framed, Electronically Fuel Injected Suzuki RM-Z450 in deep and difficult conditions.

FIM MX GP Campaign To Begin At Sandy Valkenswaard

Last year the sandy Valkenswaard Eurocircuit opened the first season of World Motocross without ten time World Champion Stefan Everts, who had retired at the end of 2006. It will be a different season opener this year, with Belgian two time World Champion Steve Ramon (MX1) and flamboyant Antonio Cairoli (MX2) from Italy to defend their Titles from a tough opposition who will show no mercy right from round one.

KTM's Barragan Shines Second At Valkenswaard

Red Bull KTM factory rider Jonathan Barragan’s clear victory in the second moto of the opening MX1 GP gave KTM Red Bull second overall in the season’s opener at Valkenswaard. Barragan, who was a creditable fifth in the opening race, went out hard and fast in race two taking a commanding lead in the opening stages. He clocked the fastest lap of 2:08.463 in lap five and went on to win by 10.3 seconds from Joshua Coppins of New Zealand.

Yamaha Motocross rider Josh Coppins experienced a dream debut in blue colours by toasting overall MX1 success today in front of 25,000 fans packed into the Eurocircuit in Valkenswaard just south of the city of Eindhoven for the opening meeting of the fifteen rounds of the 2007 FIM World Championship and the first visit of two planned stops in the Netherlands this season.

Kawasaki's Pourcel Takes Fourth At Valkenswaard

The 2007 Motocross World Championship kicked off this weekend in the Netherlands on the sandy track of Valkenswaard. Returning to the calendar this venue has always been demanding, and once more the races were pretty tough for this first round of fifteen. Winner of his qualifying race on Saturday, Christophe Pourcel was impressive and proved that he was fit despite a lack of preparation due to the leg injury sustained in the USA.

Luckless weekend for Tanel Leok and Billy Mackenzie in Valkenswaard as 2007 World Championship opens for KRT... The Grand Prix of Benelux, the first round of the 2007 MX1 World Championship, taking place at the Eurocircuit in Valkenswaard watched by 25,000 people has been frustrating for the Kawasaki Racing Team at their home event. Tanel Leok and Billy Mackenzie secured only 11th and 14th positions respectively overall in a largely misfortunate meeting.

Kawasaki Racing Team Unveiled At Valkenswaard

KME’s vast and potent motocross arm was presented to the press and appropriate parties on Friday at the Eurocircuit in Valkenswaard. The Dutch setting was also the venue of the opening round of the FIM World Championship. Steve Guttridge from KME presented the details of the ’07 team structure and support: “Last year our 3 main teams; KRT, GPKR and Molson Kawasaki regularly placed their riders on the podium at both National and MXGP races. The ultimate conclusion was the crowning of our young French MX2 World Champion, Christophe Pourcel.
