03 July 2007
Kevin Strijbos came back to Motocross World Championship action with a bang and captured his second career pole position under dark clouds at Uddevalla for the Grand Prix of Sweden the ninth round of 15 in the FIM series. The 21 year old Belgian set the quickest lap in damp and difficult conditions after missing the previous race in Bulgaria due to problems with his left knee. Strijbos was quick and confident at the venue where he claimed his second ever moto victory in 2004; the first GP campaign of the RM-Z450.

KTM MX Riders Buckle Down For Second Half of Season
30 June 2007
KTM Red Bull's MX 1 contender Italian David Philippaerts goes to the Glimminge Mototstadion in Uddevalla Sweden with the sweet smell of victory from last year still in his nostrils. Philippaerts achieved his podium in MX 1 and has now moved up to MX1 but has been gaining in strength as the season progresses. David has been consistently in the top five finishers and this augers well for the second half of the season. Winning his maiden MX1 Grand Prix has also been a confidence booster for the Italian. Presently lying third in the championship standings, David now has to make as many points as possible to close the gap on second placed Steve Ramon. New Zealander Joshua Coppins seems to have a stranglehold on the lead as riders go into the second half of the season.

Strijbos Back for Swedish MX1
30 June 2007
Team Suzuki will be back to full strength at the Grand Prix of Sweden at Uddevalla for the ninth round of the FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship this weekend as Kevin Strijbos was given the all-clear to resume riding last week. The 21-year-old Belgian missed the trip to Bulgaria almost two weeks ago after recurring problems with the cartilage in his left knee that has already been operated on twice in six months. After a period of rest the Portuguese Grand Prix winner was able to indulge in gentle training as well as make some practice laps on his RM-Z450 in the last few days.

Cairoli Not Rewarded For Challenging Ride In Sweden
03 July 2006
World Champion Antonio Cairoli played a fundamental part in a fantastic first MX2 moto at Uddevalla today for the Grand Prix of Sweden but his runner-up position was tempered by two crashes in the second outing of round nine that lowered him to sixth overall. The Uddevalla course was perhaps at its toughest for the MX2 events. Watered and very slick before the first race of the day and then worn and bumpy starting the second sprint after lunch, the terrain was far from easy and physically demanding for the riders.

Ramon On Podium In Sweden
03 July 2006
Steve Ramon was runner-up overall and earned his fifth podium of the season on the RM-Z450 this afternoon in hot temperatures at the Uddevalla circuit for the Grand Prix of Sweden and the ninth race of 15 in the FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship. The dry and hard track was difficult as away from the main racing line the levels of grip varied and the terrain became very rough. Combined with the heat the 35 minute and 2 lap motos provided another fearsome challenge for the riders of the MX1 and MX2 classes in front of 19,000 fans.

The reversed Scandinavian course is undulating and very dry after good weather conditions. A lap is fairly short with the average time taking just over a minute and a half.
