Red Bull X Fighters from Spain - Live Webcast

FMX meets bullfighting in Madrid at the Plaza de Toros de las Ventas on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of July.This will the be the seventh year running for Madrid to host one of the most exciting FMX events in the world. Young Spanish rider Dany Torres will be looking forward to competing in front of his home crowd. Recovering from a nasty fall in Texas he expects to be 100% for Madrid. Currently in fourth position overall with 135 points, he will be giving it all he's got to climb back up the ranking and make his people proud.

The second stage of the the 2008 Red Bull X Fighters will take place in exotic Rio de Janeiro. Red Bull keeps carnival alive with a night of FMX and Samba at the Sapucai Sambadrome. Those of you who watched Freecaster's coverage of the Red Bull X Fighters in Mexico will know how incredible these events are. It's one massive party topped off with monumental tricks executed by the worlds best FMX riders. Mat Rebeaud of Switzerland fought off incredibly tight competition from Dany Torres of Spain to win the first fixture in Mexico and get an early lead in the series but with three stops still to go the title could be won by any one of the world class competitors. The top riders are pulling out tricks like backflips, whips, cliffhangers and lazy flips and will keep pushing the standard higher as the competition continues.

BBC TV Gets World Exclusive Ride On New Rizla GSV-R

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP has granted the BBC an exclusive ride on the all-new 800cc Suzuki GSV-R prototype race bike, and the outcome will be aired ahead of the Jerez Grand Prix this Sunday. BBC’s MotoGP commentator Steve Parrish has ridden Suzuki’s new 800cc machine around the 4.4km Jerez circuit. He becomes the very first person, outside of a team, to ride one of the new generation bikes, which have come into force this season, rather than the 990cc bikes of previous years.

Superbikes Growing Popularity - Record Television And Trackside Audiences

The fast developing, three way battle for supremacy in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship brought record numbers of spectators both at the circuits hosting the action but also to a massive television audience enjoying the action ‘live’ in the comfort of their own homes. The final round, in which HM Plant Honda’s Ryuichi Kiyonari snatched the champion’s trophy from the Airwaves Ducati duo of Leon Haslam and Gregorio Lavilla was watched by an ITV1 audience in excess of 1.5 million viewers, an audience topped only by Formula 1. And, despite the inclement weather, 45,600 spectators were at Brands Hatch over the weekend to soak up the thrills, drama and excitement.

Great Audience Results For The SuperBike On ITV And In Spain

At the recent Silverstone Round of the Superbike World Championship, ITV1 viewers got the chance to watch World Superbike for the first time. The results for race 2’s viewing figures were impressive. An average of 1.1 million viewers with an audience share of 12%, peaking at 1.2 viewers and 14% share. All rounds of the series are broadcast by Eurosport (all live) and by terrestrial station, Channel 4. ITV only has the rights to broadcast the two British SBK™ Rounds, at Silverstone and Brands Hatch (to be held on Sunday, 6 August).

TT '06' Is Must See TV!

Whilst tens of thousands of fans are expected to converge on the Isle of Man this June for the 2006 TT Races, millions more will tune in all around the world via their TV sets to see all the action as captured by on Island motorsport specialists Greenlight Television. The undoubted TV highlight will be the one hour programme to be shown on BBC Grandstand on Sunday the 11th of June at 1pm. Last year, this proved to be the third most watched bikesport programme on UK television, behind one single round of the Moto GP and World Superbike Championships respectively.

Long Way Round wins Broadcasting Award

When Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman set off on their fascinating Long Way Round journey, they probably never imagined that it would achieve the success that it has. The television series that was aired on Sky has just won the Broadcaster Award for the Best Multichannel Programme. For this award, judges were looking for the outstanding original production commissioned by a UK digital-only television channel, with its first transmission during 2005. Repeats and acquisitions were excluded. Judges searched for shows that were original, brought something new to the market and struck a chord with its audience.

The Hairy Bikers are coming

A new BBC television series hits our screens next week featuring mouth-watering recipes from around the world, stunning locations and a pair of refreshingly unpretentious motorcycle-riding presenters known as the ‘Hairy Bikers’. Long time friends Simon King and Dave Myers aren’t the most obvious choice for television chefs. However the pair of northern bikers – who class themselves as “foodies” not cooks – are set to capture the imagination of food lovers everywhere with The Hairy Bikers Cookbook, which starts next Tuesday (January 17) on BBC2 at 8.30pm.

BSB gets ITV1 live deal

Bennetts British Superbike Championship fans get good news in 2006, with the announcement that the very popular two wheel race series will be televised live on British terrestrial channel, ITV1, for all thirteen rounds. The championship, which has most recently been televised on the Sky Sports subscription channel, will now be once more free to air in the UK.

Probe after TV claims Parking Attendants took bribes

Two car parking companies were today investigating claims that some parking attendants have resorted to bribes to cancel tickets as well as indulging in theft and illegal ticketing. The allegations were made in a BBC1 Whistleblower programme being screened tonight.
