Honda Gresini's Elias Storms To Second At Istanbul Park

The Grand Prix of Turkey remains a special event for Team Honda Gresini after another magnificent display from both riders to end a tough weekend for the team. Whilst Marco Melandri has won here for the past two seasons, today it was Toni Elias' turn to step up to the podium after taking second place behind Casey Stoner. A perfect start from row four allowed the Spaniard to battle with the leading riders and Elias slid his way spectacularly through to second place by the tenth lap, a position he maintained to the end of the race.

Repsol Honda's Hayden Tests Hard And Fast At Istanbul

With the dust barely settled after yesterday’s action-packed Grand Prix of Turkey, Repsol Honda’s World Champion, Nicky Hayden, was back in the saddle at Istanbul Park on Monday, continuing the development of his RC212V MotoGP bike. Following his gritty ride to seventh place in the 22-lap race, Hayden and his crew worked through a programme of chassis set-up adjustments and Michelin tyre tests intended to further enhance the performance of the factory Honda ahead of the next race in China.

Ducati Marlboro's Stoner And Capirossi Back On Track

Just a few hours after the podium celebrations of the Grand Prix of Turkey, Casey Stoner and Loris Capirossi were out on the track again for a supplementary one-day testing session at the Istanbul Park circuit. After the poor weather encountered in Monday testing following the first two races, the Ducati Marlboro Team riders were finally able to enjoy sunny conditions for tyre and development tests with the Ducati Desmosedici GP7, which produced promising results for both riders.

Positive Test For The Team Pramac D’Antin

After an astonishing race for Alex Barros, and a good one for Hofmann that achieve the 9th position, the Team Pramac d’Antin, spend one day enough in Turkey to do the optional test. The today’s happened tests, was especially to try different kind of tires, to have complete picture of the situation for the next European races. Alex Barros who finished a lot of laps, focused his self on the front and rear with both qualifying and race tires obtaining very prominent results for his championship.

Turkish Delight For Dunlop Yamaha Tech 3 Team

After a drama charged Grand Prix of Turkey the Dunlop Yamaha Tech 3 Team can leave Istanbul extremely satisfied as riders Makoto Tamada and Sylvain Guintoli scored more championship points finishing in 14th and 15th spots respectively. In what is shaping as the most intensely contested MotoGP Championship on record, both riders were extremely fortunate not to be involved in a spectacular opening lap crash that caused three riders to retire, as the Dunlop Yamaha Tech 3 pilots were forced to take evasive action to stay in the race. Losing vital seconds in the melee, both riders recovered composure rapidly to give chase to the quickly disappearing pack and with determined rides closed the gap to the leaders over the remainder of the race to finish just 30 seconds from a podium finish.

Disappointment For Rossi And Edwards On Unlucky Day In Turkey

High hopes for Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards went unfulfilled today as the Fiat Yamaha Team riders, who started from first and second on the grid, were both victims of bad luck at Istanbul Park. The pair got a good start and were leading the pack into turn one before Edwards dropped back as he was unable to get enough heat into his tyre and Rossi made a mistake and ran wide at turn eleven.

Kawasaki's Randy Races To Best Result Yet In Istanbul

Randy de Puniet finished today's Turkish Grand Prix in eighth place, his best result to date since moving up to the MotoGP class with Kawasaki at the start of the 2006 season. De Puniet's race didn't get off to the best start, after difficulties getting his Ninja ZX-RR off the line dropped him back to 13th place at turn one, but he recovered quickly as he chased hard to catch the group of riders ahead of him.

Pramac D’Antin's Barros Back On Track With Fourth

Excellent result for the team Pramac d’Antin whic h obtained the top ten with both his riders in Istanbul’s race. Alex Barros protagonist of an absolute perfect race, lost the podium for very few second, qualifying in fourth position; the race was portend too hardly from the beginning when some riders fall down hindering the track, but fortunately the Brazilian was able to go on continuing his fast race to reach the head’s group.

The pair's impressive performance also puts Ducati at the top of the constructors' title chase and the Ducati Marlboro Team at the top of the teams' championship.

Red Bull KTM Rider Mika Kallio Strong In Sixth

Red Bull KTM rider Mika Kallio finished the 250 cc Grand Prix of Turkey in a strong sixth place, squeezing past Julian Simon in the last seven laps to regain his initial starting position. Team-mate Hiroshi Aoyama was not as lucky. The Japanese ace crashed in the morning’s warm-up session and ignored the pain in his lower back to start in the race, only to fall off a second time, when another rider ran into him.

First Lap Incident Costs Rizla's Vermeulen Podium Challenge

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP racer Chris Vermeulen was involved in a first lap crash at today’s Turkish Grand Prix, almost definitely costing him a place on the podium - his race pace after he and rejoined the race was as good as any other rider on the track. Vermeulen was caught up in a four rider crash, caused by Kawasaki’s Olivier Jacque and also involving Dani Pedrosa and Colin Edwards. Vermeulen’s bike was lying on top of Pedrosa’s and the determined Australian dragged it off, got back on and re-joined the race. The Rizla Suzuki GSV-R sustained some damage in the accident but Vermeulen battled back to secure 11th place at the end of the race, setting the fastest time on the penultimate lap. The accident cost Vermeulen over 22 seconds from start to finish and his final race time was only 20 seconds off second place.

Konica Minolta Honda 13th On A Tough Day

Konica Minolta Honda rider Shinya Nakano took 13th position during today’s 22-lap race at Istanbul Park. Despite a fairly good start, Shinya Nakano had to try and avoid a first lap incident, which saw Kawasaki’s Olivier Jacque go out of control and take out Yamaha’s Colin Edwards and Honda’s Dani Pedrosa. Shinya dropped back through the order and worked hard to make up positions but a lack of feeling in the front-end of his Honda RCV212V meant he still couldn’t carry the corner-speed that he wanted, leaving him in 13th position – not exactly what he expected to celebrate his 100th premier class start of his career. The Team has vowed to work hard with HRC and Michelin in a bid to solve the problems in time for the Chinese GP, which takes place in two-weeks time.

Perfect qualifying for FIAT Yamaha Team in Istanbul

Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards put themselves in the best possible starting positions for tomorrow's Grand Prix of Turkey with a one-two in today's Official Qualifying. Shaking off the mild set-up problems they had encountered on yesterday's dirty track, the pair worked steadily on fine-tuning their 800cc YZR-M1s throughout the majority of the hour-long session before posting the best flying laps on qualifying tyres to take the top two spots on the grid for tomorrow's 22-lap race.

Pramac's Barros Improves, Difficult Day For Hofmann

In the second day at the Istanbul circuit, all the MotoGP riders was engaged in the qualifying session for the race. Both the Pramac d’Antin riders, weren't able to achieve the hoped position on the grid, but tomorrow they’ll push at their maximum for a good result. Despite Istanbul Park being a new track for the Brazilian Barros, and riding in a poor physical condition, the rider is satisfied with his performance that was one second better than yesterday and is hopeful of riding up to his ability.

Ducati Marlboro Team men Casey Stoner and Loris Capirossi will start tomorrow's Turkish Grand Prix from the second row of the grid after qualifying fourth and fifth, narrowly missing out on the front row.Stoner - who has been in impressive form all weekend, running fastest in two practice sessions - ended this afternoon's qualifying session just half a second off pole. Back-on-form Capirossi was 0.184 seconds off his team-mate after improving the set-up of his Desmosedici GP7.

Kawasaki Faces With Optimism The Istanbul Challenge

Kawasaki's Randy de Puniet and Olivier Jacque will start tomorrow’s Turkish Grand Prix from the third and fourth row respectively after qualifying eighth and eleventh at the one-hour long qualifying session that took place today at the Istanbul Circuit Park. Despite the grid position achieved is not as good as expected, the Kawasaki Team faces with optimism the third race of the 2007 season after showing an important improvement on the engine and chassis side making the riders feel more comfortable and reducing the lap times as the sessions were progressing.

Fast Pedrosa Denied Basting By Turkey Traffic

Repsol Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden will start tomorrow’s Grand Prix of Turkey from third and sixth positions on the grid after a hard-fought qualifying session today. Pedrosa looked on course to take pole position, having been fastest in the first three split times of his final qualifying lap at the 5.340km (3.316 miles) Istanbul Park circuit. But the 21-year-old Spaniard was held up by another rider, also on a flying lap, and lost crucial tenths of a second in the final few corners.

Improvements For Konica Minolta Honda During Qualifying

Konica Minolta Honda made a significant improvement during today’s qualifying session for the Turkish GP, which will be held here at the Istanbul Park circuit tomorrow afternoon. Following a tough first day with technical problems and a crash, team rider Shinya Nakano shaved almost three seconds off his time to qualify in a hard-fought 12th place. Qualifying was another tight affair, with just a second covering 5th placed Loris Capirossi to 18th-placed Kenny Roberts Junior. The fact that none of the teams have tested at Istanbul Park and the changeable temperatures over the weekend has left a big question mark over what tyres to use for tomorrow’s 22-lap race.

High Hopes For Rizla Suzuki In Turkey

John Hopkins and Chris Vermeulen will start tomorrow’s Grand Prix of Turkey from either end of the third row of the grid, as the two Rizla Suzuki MotoGP racers qualified in seventh and ninth respectively. Both Suzuki men were regularly amongst the fastest riders on race tyres with Vermeulen clocking the third quickest time and Hopkins the sixth in this afternoon’s session, before all competitors started using qualifying tyres.

Great Day For The Ducati Marlboro Team In Turkey

Ducati Marlboro Team men Casey Stoner and Loris Capirossi made a brilliant start to the Turkish Grand Prix today, ending the first day of practice fastest and second fastest. Their pace proves the strengths of the Desmosedici GP7 and shows that Bridgestone has made huge strides forward since last year's race at Istanbul Park.
