Testing Concludes Positively For Troy Bayliss And Vittoriano Guareschi At The Mugello Track
16 May 2009
The test session that saw Troy Bayliss ride the Desmosedici GP9 together with official test rider Vittoriano Guareschi has today concluded at the Italian track of Mugello. Bayliss enjoyed his time on track and has got back into the riding, six months after his retirement from Superbike racing and having not ridden a bike since then. On leaving the Tuscan track this afternoon he declared he was satisfied with his pace after having had only three days to ride. 1m51.2, the best time registered by the Australian this week, is a very respectable time, also considering the fact that the MotoGP 800cc machine was totally new to him. Official GP test rider Vittoriano Guareschi also recorded a similar fastest time of 1m51.4 during the three useful track days.

Bayliss Winds up Superbike Career with Double Win in Portugal
03 November 2008
Troy Bayliss wound up his Superbike career, and the 2008 FIM Superbike World Championship, with a spectacular double win in the final round at the Portimao circuit in Portugal in front of 91,000 spectators. The first race was totally dominated by Bayliss, who powered into the lead at the start and was never seen again. The triple world champion’s margin over his pursuers was just over two seconds at the flag but it had been much wider throughout the race. There was a terrific scrap for the remaining podium places, the right choice of Pirelli tyre making all the difference and in the end it was Checa who came on strong to take the runner-up slot from Corser. The outcome for fourth place was also uncertain until the flag, and it eventually went to Jonathan Rea (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda), making his WSBK debut. Fonsi Nieto (Suzuki Alstare) recovered well to finish fifth, ahead of another Spaniard, Gregorio Lavilla (VentAxia Honda) and Leon Haslam (HM Plant Honda). Max Neukirchner (Alstare Suzuki) crashed out while trying to reach the leading group, while Michel Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox) and Max Biaggi (Sterilgarda Go Eleven Ducati) both retired a few corners in after a clash.

27 October 2008
The 2008 World Superbike championship comes to a close this week, and factory riders Troy Bayliss and Michel Fabrizio travel to Portugal and the brand new Autodromo Internacional do Algarve for the final round. The Ducati Xerox team commences the weekend in a relaxed state of mind, having already secured the 2008 World Superbike riders and constructors titles with Troy Bayliss and his Ducati 1098 F08, a winning race bike in its debut season. Three weeks ago at Magny-Cours, the penultimate round of the championship, Troy Bayliss triumphed to take his third World title, with his Race 2 win also providing the necessary points for Ducati to bring home their fifteenth manufacturers title since 1988.

Bayliss Triumphs to Take Third WSB Title
06 October 2008
By taking a third place finish in Race 1 and a fantastic race 2 win today at the "Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours", Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) has this weekend been crowned with a remarkable third World Superbike title, powering his Ducati 1098 F08 to victory and snatching the title after round thirteen, despite there being one more round still to race at Portimao (Portugal). With a total of 410 championship points, and having achieved nine race wins and sixteen podium finishes during the season, the Australian legend Bayliss has ridden the Ducati 1098 F08 factory machine into the record books, a winning bike in its debut season, a feat previously accomplished by Carl Fogarty with the 916 in 1994, and with the 996 in 1998 and by Neil Hodgson in 2003 with the 999.

Haga Grabs First Superpole of the Year at Magny-Cours
05 October 2008
Noriyuki Haga’s exceptional end-of-season run of form continues at Magny-Cours this weekend as the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB rider powered to the Superpole for tomorrow’s French Round races with a new best lap of 1 minute 38.444 seconds. For the Japanese rider, who notched up a double win here last year and another double two weeks ago at Vallelunga, it was his first pole of the season and his sixth overall. The one-lap dash was a hard-fought affair, with the top 4 ending up in the space of three-tenths of a second and four different bikes on the front row from Yamaha, Suzuki, Ducati and Honda. Lining up alongside Haga will be Fonsi Nieto (Suzuki Alstare), the Spaniard producing his best performance of the year, followed by championship leader Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) and Carlos Checa (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda).

Bayliss on Front Row of Magney-Cours Showdown
05 October 2008
In a Superpole session that remained surprisingly dry this afternoon at Magny-Cours, Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) was satisfied to conclude proceedings with a place on the front row of the grid for tomorrow's crucial races. Bayliss registered the third fastest lap of the afternoon, just behind pole-sitter Haga and second placed man Nieto. Michel Fabrizio will line up at the front of the third row, in ninth place on tomorrow's grid. Riders were unable to improve this morning on the times they set in first qualifying yesterday, due to a track that was part dry and part very wet. This meant that Ducati Xerox riders Troy Bayliss and Michel Fabrizio both qualified for Superpole with the times they set yesterday, that is in second and fifteenth place respectively.

Bayliss First in Wet Qualifying
04 October 2008
The Superbike riders were today faced with cold, wet conditions at Magny-Cours that meant they only completed a handful of laps in the first qualifying session. With a track temperature of just 16 degrees, Ducati Xerox factory riders Troy Bayliss and Michel Fabrizio exited in the dry at the start of the afternoon's session but only had time to make six or seven laps before a persistent rain prevented further exits, thus cutting the session short. Despite the lack of track time, Troy Bayliss and his Ducati F08 recorded the second fastest time of the session while his team-mate Michel Fabrizio concluded the day in fifteenth position.

Fight for Supremacy & SBK Title Continues at Magney-Cours
01 October 2008
Magny-Cours (France) Tuesday 30th September: After the emotional rollercoaster that was the last Superbike round at Vallelunga, Troy Bayliss and Michel Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox) move on now to the "Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours" in France for the penultimate round of the championship, with the winners of both the rider's and manufacturer's titles still to be decided. In a spectacular second race at Vallelunga, Bayliss fell on the final lap, thus failing to take the title at the first opportunity he had had. As a result, his 101 point advantage over Corser has fallen to 79 points, with everything still to play for at the coming weekend's race.
