De Dycker on MX1 Pole with Storming Final Lap in Germany

Day one of the German Grand Prix at Teutschenthal was a dry one and hosted some good qualifying action both in the MX1 and MX2 classes. Ken de Dycker took the eventual pole in MX1 while archrivals Tony Cairoli and Tyla Rattray won the qualifying heats to take the best two spots on the gate of tomorrow’s MX2 Grand Prix. In the Women’s Motocross World Championship qualifying session Livia Lancelot led from home riders Maria Franke and Larissa Papenmeier.

Henderson Cup Up Takes the World Stage

The stars of the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup will receive the opportunity to showcase their skills on the world stage as they battle it out over two races at the British MotoGP this weekend (20th-21th June). Billed as the International Round, the double header will be a stand alone event with no championship points up for grabs. Instead, it will proffer the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup riders the chance to revel in the atmosphere as part of the largest motorcycling race weekend on the calendar in the UK this year.

The British Grand Prix started under bright sunshine which no one was expecting. The weather should remain the same for the weekend when Sebastien Pourcel will start the MX1 Grand Prix from pole for the fourth time this season.

FIM MX World Championship Discovers Mallory Park

Great Britain will play host to the sixth round of the FIM Motocross World series this weekend on the brand new course at Mallory Park, which was built inside the famous road racing facility. David Philippaerts leads the MX1 standings since the Portuguese Grand Prix while Tyla Rattray and Tony Cairoli are still battling tooth and nail for the MX2 lead, currently owned by the South African. In occasion of the British Grand Prix, the FIM Veterans’ Motocross World Cup will restart with the second of three rounds. Dutchman Toine van Dijk leads the points standings after Spain with home rider and last year’s Cup winner Dave Thorpe ready to fight back.

Tourist Trophy 2008

On the 6th June Ducati celebrates the 30th anniversary of Mike Hailwood’s legendary win and the 50th anniversary of its participation in the TT. The 2008 Tourist Trophy road race takes place from 24th May to 7th June, around the Isle of Man and this year’s event will be a special opportunity for race fans to celebrate this anniversary with Ducati. One of the prime reasons for celebration is undoubtedly the 30th anniversary of the 2nd June 1978, the date of Mike Hailwood’s unforgettable race to victory on a Ducati 900. It was as an incredible achievement as it was unexpected, as Hailwood came out of retirement and stunned the world of motorcycling by beating the odds-on favourite Phil Read on his Honda to complete a fairytale return to racing and the Isle of Man TT.

BMW Motorrad to Return to Donington Park for BikeFestUK

BMW Motorrad has announced that it will be exhibiting at this year’s BikeFestUK and following the huge success of its debut year which saw nearly 7,000 visitors attend, the show is returning for 2008 to Donington Park on Saturday 07th June. Supported by one of the UK’s leading sportsbike magazines, Fast Bikes, BikeFest is a totally interactive, one-day show where visitors have the opportunity to test ride motorcycles - either around Donington’s famous Grand Prix circuit or on local road routes. Additionally there are a wide range of trade stands to be visited.

Philippaerts Enters Home GP of Italy with Head High

After visiting Sevlievo, the FIM Motocross World FIM Motocross World series including the MX1, MX2 and the Women riders will head to Mantova, Italy, for the fifth meeting of the 15 races calendar –second meeting of the five races calendar for the Women World Championship. MX1 rider David Philippaerts enters the Lovemytime Grand Prix of Italy, his home Grand Prix, as the series leader and the winner of the latest Grand Prix, while countryman Antonio Cairoli will try to get the MX2 red plate back from current leader Tyla Rattray.

BMW to mark ‘Year of Enduro’ at the BMF Show

The annual BMF Show at Peterborough on the 17th-18th May is the largest outdoor motorcycling event in Europe, drawing thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the UK. FIM MX World Champioship Back to Work at Sevlievo

Following a week break from Grand Prix racing, the fourth round of the 2008 series will get underway this weekend at the beautiful circuit of Sevlievo, in Bulgaria. The first meeting of the month will see a completely different situation compared to the pre Agueda points standings. David Philippaerts is now leading the MX1 class with Italian countryman Tony Cairoli back on top of the MX2 classifications courtesy of his Portuguese double victory. Though with 12 rounds to the end the Championship is still to be decided.

The Portuguese Grand Prix got underway today in front of 18000 fans who saw two Italians David Philippaerts (MX1) and Antonio Cairoli (MX2) clinch the World Championship lead at the end of an eventful weekend. The MX1 Grand Prix was won by Sebastien Pourcel, to close a perfect weekend as he clocked also the pole yesterday. Philippaerts was second overall while countryman Cairoli won the MX2 Grand Prix from KTM fellow riders Tyla Rattray and Tommy Searle.

First Qualifying Of The Year In Qatar Under Floodlights

Alice Team riders, Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli, have stepped on the Losail international circuit, in Qatar, for the first qualifying session of the 2008 MotoGP World Championship under the floodlights. Guintoli wasn’t in the best physical conditions due to some fever and a bad cold. Elias has tried to improve his best lap time until the last second trying to improve his position in the standing, concluding in fourteenth position, in fifth row. In the qualifying hour the track temperature was of fifteenth degrees, while the air temperature just one degree more. Tomorrow twenty minutes of warm up before the first historic nocturnal MotoGP race.

As the curtain came down on another thrilling Bennetts British Superbike season at Brands Hatch last weekend, the THINK! Motorcycle Academy once again showed itself to be the focal point of the series for fans. Thousands of fans queued up to meet leading local riders Leon Camier, Tommy Hill and Scott Smart, while three time British Superbike Champion and THINK! Ambassador, John Reynolds, was once again on hand to talk to and sign autographs for the massive crowds, who were basking in the autumn sunshine.

Demaria MX3 Championship Win Completes A Double For Yamaha

Yamaha were able to celebrate title success in two of the three FIM Motocross World Championship classes as Yves Demaria swept to victory in the MX3 series by finishing second overall at the fourteenth and final round of the 2007 series at Faenza in Italy yesterday. The French veteran, who steered adapted YZ450F machinery within his own team structure for ‘07, led the big-bore category by 28 points going to the fast venue close to Bologna. The 35 year old had won the previous four consecutive motos in Denmark and Switzerland and been victorious overall in four of the thirteen rounds before heading to Italy.

Veazey To Battle Through The Pain At Home Track

Krystal Racing Space Air’s Paul Veazey will be back in the saddle for his home round this weekend as the Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship heads to Croft Circuit near Darlington. Veazey, who lives just 20 miles away in nearby Middlesbrough, is still in pain after breaking his hand in training last month, but is determined to put on a good show for his home fans on Sunday. He will be joined, as ever, on the team’s distinctive yellow and blue Yamaha R1s by team-mate Lee Jackson, who is still riding high from his two second places in the Superbike Cup at Mallory Park last month.

Krystal To Kick-off Croft Weekend With The NYRRSC

Jackson Powers To Third At Oulton

KRYSTAL Racing Space Air celebrated their first podium of the season as Lee Jackson scorched to third place in Round Four of the Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship at Oulton Park on Bank Holiday Monday. After a difficult start to the 2007 season, the 32-year-old from Lincolnshire has finally found a set-up which works for him, and yesterday the former champion showed the rest of the field just what he is capable of. Jackson (22) had qualified for the 15-lap race in seventh position, and despite dropping down three spots, was running back in seventh at the start of Lap 10 when rain began to fall prompting a red flag. A restart was scheduled an hour later, and again he found himself lining up in the same spot to run a new race of just eight laps.
