The date of the first ever Ride to the Wall event in the UK – dedicated to troops that have died on duty since World War II – has been set for Saturday 11th October at the Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum near Burton on Trent, Staffordshire.

Survey Says More of Us are Turning to 2 Wheels

Registrations of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds last month were 10.2 per cent up on the same month last year, according to figures issued by the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCIA). Motorbike registrations recorded at 13,747 were 1,269 up on April, 2007. This takes the total market this year to 44,441 – up 1.3 per cent on the same period last year. Increases were seen across almost all engine sizes and bike categories with mopeds up 49.7 per cent and scooters up 42.3 per cent.

European Politicians Are Motorcyclists Too!

On the 5th September 2007, the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG UK) headed to Europe for the 11th Annual MEP motorcycle ride at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Organised by the Federation of European Motorcyclists Associations (FEMA), of which MAG is an active member organisation, the annual ride with Members of the European Parliament was a unique opportunity for riders from all over Europe to exchange ideas and discuss motorcycle issues directly with the decision makers and other stakeholders. The MAG “Euro Team” of MAG’s General Secretary Trevor Baird, Nev Chamberlain and ex-Chairman, Ian Moore, joined over a 100 participants at the Ride including 15 Members of the European Parliament from 10 member states.

National Motorcycle Week

This week the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) is holding the annual National Motorcycle Week in order to promote the benefits of motorcycling. The 18th July was also 'Ride to Work Day' which Scottoiler fully supported by encouraging all of its staff to ride either their motorcycle or bicycle to work. The theme of this year's event is "Now is the Time" which aims to encourage new riders to sit their motorcycle test before the 2nd European Driving Licence Directive is introduced in September 2008. Approximately 1/3 of Scottoiler staff currently hold a motorcycle licence with another member due to sit their test in the near future.

Join the mass ride-out to the BMW Biker Meeting

Last year hundreds of British motorcyclists filled an entire Eurotunnel train as part of a mass ride-out to the International BMW Motorrad Biker Meeting, held at Garmisch-Partenkirchen on the Austrian/German border. Motorcyclists travelled from all over the UK to join the ride to the annual event, which attracted over 30,000 motorcyclists from all over the world. The BMW Biker Meeting is a motorcyclist’s paradise. Set in an ideal Alpine location, there are trade stalls, displays, ride-outs, stunt shows, fashion shows, biker parties and much, much more.
