Race Ace Crutchlow Passes Bike Test & Collects All-New CB1000R!

Honda’s race ace, Cal Crutchlow, passed his motorcycle test today – and then promptly collected his all-new Honda CB1000R, launched at dealers across the country today. The 22-year-old racer from Coventry, currently lying in second place in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship with the HM Plant Honda team, knew full well that now was the time to pass his motorcycle test before the Second European Driving Licence comes into effect from October.

Michelin Men Get to Know Indy

Michelin’s MotoGP test team visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time on July 1st and 2nd to test tyres in readiness for the inaugural Indy MotoGP event scheduled for September 14th. The two day session between the Dutch and German MotoGP rounds was scheduled thanks to new regulations which allow tyre manufacturers to test at tracks which haven’t previously featured on the World Championship calendar. “These tests are a good thing,” said Jean-Philippe Weber, Michelin’s director of motorcycle racing. “They allow us to get an initial feeling for the track. They also allow us to better understand the track and they give us an idea of how the race weekend will go.”

Isle of Wright MCPT

The Motorcycle Action Group is co-ordinating a campaign to retain the Isle of Wight motorcycle test centre. Motorcyclists on the Isle of Wight will face a long and expensive journey to the mainland in order to take their motorcycle licence test under plans to abolish the islands only motorcycle test centre. This has come about due to the new motorcycle riding test which comes into force in October 2008 which will require purpose built off road test centres.

Test With Suzuki & The BSMA!

Suzuki has teamed up with the BSMA to offer free test-rides on a selection of motocross models at rounds of the BSMA National Championship this summer. With two schemes in operation, the first caters for the complete novice, giving the opportunity to try the Suzuki DR-Z125, RM85 or RM125 in a safe environment, with expert tuition. Run by BSMA head-coach Paul Butler, the try-out scheme will operate over 20 minute sessions between 12 noon and 5PM , and will provide a no-pressure, safe environment to those considering a move to Motocross.

Time To Get Your Motorcycle Licence

As details of new motorcycle licence test arrangements for late 2008 are finalised by the Government, the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) is launching a major campaign to encourage people to take up motorcycling and get their full licence. Driven by European legislation, The Second European Driving Licence Directive, or 2DLD, will come into force in September 2008 and will introduce new elements to motorcycle testing and training.
