Shower-Proof Yamaha Take 3rd & 5th in Qualifying
05 October 2007
Following an afternoon of mixed weather, the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team has finished day one of qualifying with Haga and Corser in provisional third and fifth positions respectively. Both riders started the day in the top six during this morning's free practice but it was the weather that changed everyone's plans when the qualifying session was declared wet after a sudden rain shower at the start. Everyone went out initially but came in after only one out lap as the back of the circuit was wet. With Sunday's dry forecast making wet laps pointless, there was then no further on-track activity until 30 minutes into the session when the sun had dried the tarmac sufficiently.

Yamaha Takes the Title Fight to the Last Round
03 October 2007
The 2007 World Superbike Championship comes to a thrilling finale this weekend at the French circuit of Magny-Cours. The final round of the championship will be played out in true dramatic form with the top three riders all in with a chance of lifting the trophy on Sunday. Only one weekend ago, the race in Vallelunga, Italy saw the championship possibilities left wide open as Haga took a third and fourth while championship leader Toseland could only manage third and 11th. Biaggi also got in on the act when he took first and second to move into second championship place. With only 33 points separating these three riders there is everything still to fight for.

Yamaha Keeps Championship Hopes Alive
01 October 2007
In a day of dramatic racing, Yamaha came away with both their rider and manufacturer championship still hopes alive. Haga came third and fourth in today's races with Corser finishing in fifth in the second race after a DNF in race one. Race one had a spectacular start as Corser lost the front and crashed out on the first lap while Haga almost crashed but managed to move into third in front of Toseland. He then proceeded to take the fastest lap three times to catch Bayliss and Biaggi who were battling for first. Having caught Bayliss, Haga tousled and swapped places with him many times before Bayliss made it stick on lap 17. The battle up front had given Toseland the chance to catch up and challenge Haga for third position; a challenge which he eventually won.

Superpole Showdown Sees Corser Start From 2nd
30 September 2007
Corser will start from second on the grid in tomorrow's races, having been beaten by Bayliss at the last minute to the top slot by 0.126 seconds. His team mate Haga took fifth position in a day of set-up challenges and Superpole drama. This morning's qualifying session was an unremarkable affair with both riders focusing on finding the best set-up for the race. Corser started top of the leader board and remained there until towards the end of the session. Despite improving his own time by 0.009 seconds he was marginally beaten to the top slot by Bayliss and Xaus. Haga went eighth fastest in qualifying, concerning himself with his settings rather than grid position.

Yamaha Looking Good in First and Third on Day One
29 September 2007
The first day of qualifying at Vallelunga went well for the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team today, with Corser claiming provisional pole and Haga just behind in third. The day started off wet and quite cool following overnight rain, with temperatures only hitting 19°C compared to the scorching 50°C experienced during testing here in July. The difference in weather conditions meant that the data gathered in the test proved less helpful than hoped during this morning's free practice. But both Corser and Haga didn't let this faze them and got on with the job of finding the best set-up for the conditions. By the end of the session Corser was fastest with Haga in fourth.

Yamaha On Every Step Of The Podium
10 September 2007
The weather was kind to the World Superbike Championship today as the rain disappeared and the sun came out while Haga and Corser took three podiums between them; one on each step of the podium. Haga took the win in race one and rounded it up with a second place in race two, while Corser finished third in the first race and fifth in the second. Race one started well for Haga as he went from eighth to second in the first few laps. Undeterred by the gap that Bayliss had created between first and second, Haga just put his head down and reduced the margin lap by lap until the two riders were tyre to tyre on lap 14. Haga made his move on the next lap with a traditional Haga-style close pass and then just kept going. He finished the race a clear 11 seconds ahead of the rest of the field; his fourth win of the season.

Yamaha Slide Onto The Front Row In Germany
09 September 2007
Today's World Superbike qualifying sessions were all about the weather as rain, standing water and excess rubber on the track turned the EuroSpeedway circuit into a slippery customer. But Corser and Haga persevered and were rewarded with fourth and eighth qualifying positions respectively. This morning's final qualifying session was declared wet and unfortunately 11 riders fell foul of the track conditions during the hour. Corser, Haga and Nakatomi were all victims during the session but without injury. Corser and Haga both re-joined the session but Nakatomi sat the remainder out. With lap times 20 seconds slower than yesterday there was no change to the rider order from the first qualifying session.

Both Yamaha's On The Provisional Front Row
08 September 2007
Today was back to work for the World Superbike Championship following the summer break and the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team wasted no time in getting back into the swing of things. Within a short space of time both Corser and Haga had found their usual form to take provisional second and fourth respectively in the first day of qualifying at the EuroSpeedway track in Germany. The morning session was uneventful with all riders taking it steady in the damp conditions. Haga finished third with a 1'39.773 and Corser ended the free practice session just behind in fourth. With the conditions improved for the afternoon session both riders went out intent on progress. Corser went fastest within the first seven minutes although Haga took the top slot briefly before Corser re-took it, knocking his team mate to second. The positions remained unchanged until Kagayama slid in between the Yamaha riders with 15 minutes to go. Then in the last minute Bayliss claimed the provisional pole pushing Corser into second and Haga into fourth.

Yamaha Motor Italia Effort Is Rewarded with 3 Podiums
07 August 2007
The Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team today reaped the rewards of their weekend's hard work to take three podium positions and regain their second place in the rider championship standings. Race one was an exciting start to the day with both Corser and Haga getting good starts to take second and fourth respectively in a four-man battle with Toseland and Bayliss. Haga set about moving forward through the pack and set the fastest lap of the race on lap four before a very close pass with Bayliss to take second behind Toseland. The two Troy's were dicing for third when Bayliss crashed, giving Corser the advantage. Everything was settling down at the mid-race point when Haga ran hard into Surtees and had to take to the grass. He kept the bike upright and re-joined in 11th and dug in to climb back up to take seventh finishing place. Haga's incident allowed Corser through to second, where he completed the race. Corser's result in this race gave Yamaha their 150th WSB podium.

Haga 3rd, Corser 5th in Final Qualifying
05 August 2007
It all came down to Superpole today as the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team battled to take third and fifth qualifying positions for tomorrow's race at Brands Hatch. Haga, using his usual wild riding style, put in a flying lap in Superpole to top the leader board. He was only beaten by Bayliss and Toseland, who went first and second respectively. He'd made steady progress throughout the day on his set-up and the improvement showed when he went second fastest in free practice just prior to Superpole.

Yamaha Third and Sixth on Day One at Brands
04 August 2007
The Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team had a solid start to this weekend's race at Brands Hatch in the UK with Corser finishing third and Haga sixth in qualifying. Both riders focused on finding the right set-up during today's two sessions and by the end of the day both had identified a direction to go in. Corser knocked almost a second off his best morning lap time as he worked on a range of different settings and got a feel for how the Yamaha works around the Brands circuit. Haga tried several different tyre options and identified where he needs to focus to realize his full potential in tomorrow's qualifying and Superpole sessions.

Tough Race Day For Yamaha
24 July 2007
The ninth round of the World Superbike Championship today proved difficult for the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team with both Corser and Haga suffering set backs during the day. Haga managed to walk away with two fourth position finishes and 26 points while Corser finished seventh in the first race before having to retire from race two. In race one Haga was in a four-way battle at the front of the pack for most of the race, putting up a good fight with Toseland, Biaggi and Kagayama as they challenged each other for position every lap. Eventually Haga was forced to settle for fourth and 13 vital points rather than risk crashing as his tyre wore out. Corser's initial race of the day proved a difficult one as he struggled with tyre grip from the outset and ended the race in seventh place.

Haga Goes Under the Two-Minute Lap to Take Pole
22 July 2007
Haga today became the first rider to do a sub two-minute lap at Brno, taking pole position with a time of 1'59.603. With this morning's track temperature over ten degrees cooler than yesterday's qualifying, both Haga and Corser found the going easier in second qualifying. Haga went out this morning and put in two fast laps, waking the rest of the pack up and reinforcing his place at the head of the qualifying table. Corser also beat his best time from yesterday, breaking into the 2'00 lap times, but was unable to hold off an attack for second from Bayliss.

Yamaha Second And Third In A One-Race Round
28 May 2007
The British weather tried to spoil the seventh round of the World Superbike Championship at Silverstone today but it couldn't take away two podium positions from the Yamaha Motor Italia Team. In a rain-soaked single-race day Haga took second while Corser took his 110th podium position in third. The second race was cancelled after a 30 minute delay to clear water from the track failed to improve conditions. The day started with a twenty minute warm up session that doubled up as the first opportunity for all the teams to find their wet set up. Corser showed his wet race confidence in the YZF-R1, going second fastest overall in the session. Haga went fifth fastest but had a small crash at the end of the session.

Yamaha Qualify Second And Fifth At Silverstone
27 May 2007
The rain held off just long enough today for Haga and Corser to take second and fifth qualifying positions respectively for tomorrow's races at Silverstone. This morning's qualifying session was dry with the track temperature slightly higher than yesterday and both riders quickly improved on their best times from yesterday, dropping down into 1'25 lap times. The lap times continued to tumble with the first sub 1'25 lap occurring during the session. Corser posted the fastest time with minutes to go - 1'24.731 - and went into Superpole in first position. Yamaha's Corser To Start In Fourth After A Wet And Slippery Day
15 April 2007
The challenging weather that started on Friday continued throughout today, making riding conditions very difficult and slippery. A damp qualifying session this morning was followed by a wet Superpole, in which the top 16 riders go out at the same time for a maximum of 12 laps during a 50 minute session. Corser felt happier with engine changes that had been made overnight following on from yesterday's initial qualifying session. These changes included trying some of the settings that had been used at Donington two weeks previously. Haga focused on continuing to find the right wet set-up. Overall, the wet conditions meant that everyone's lap times were slower, with no one improving on their best times from yesterday.
