New Crescent Suzuki British Superbike signing, Sylvain Guintoli, completed a successful first test on the 2008 GSX-R1000 at Brands Hatch today, declaring Suzuki's Superbike an 'impressive package', having finished racing in MotoGP only last month. The 26-year-old Frenchman, completed 88 laps around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, getting used to the GSX-R1000 Superbike that took outgoing team rider Tom Sykes, to multiple race wins earlier this year.

The MotoGP 2008 Season Ended in Valencia

Finally the sun has arrived in Valencia where the last round of the 2008 MotoGP World Championship season has ended. Sylvain Guintoli, Alice Team rider, has done a good race after starting from the thirteenth position. The Frenchman has concluded in twelfth position maintaining the same level of the past two days. His teammate, Toni Elias, didn’t make it to do well in front of his fans. The Catalan rider has concluded in eighteenth position after finding some difficulties with the rear part of the bike.

Fourth & Fifth Row For The Alice Team

Another day with variable climatic conditions in Valencia where the qualifying session valid for the Comunitat de Valencia Grand Prix took place. Sylvain Guintoli remained for sometimes in second position, but in the last part of the session the surface of the track dried out and most of the riders made it to improve their performances. The French rider, who is still suffering at his left knee after yesterday’s fall, has concluded with the thirteenth best lap time.

Guintoli Eighth in the First Day at Valencia

Morning practice characterized by heavy rain that has limited the performances of the MotoGP riders. A pity that both Alice Team riders, Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli, couldn’t step on track in the last minutes of practices due to two falls. It seems that both riders have only suffered two hard contusions and should be able to be back on track tomorrow. Guintoli has always been competitive today concluding with the fifth best lap time in the morning and the eight in the afternoon.

Rossi & Stoner Crash at Treacherous Valencia

World Champions old and new made the headlines in treacherous conditions in the first day of practice for Parts Europe Grand Prix of Valencia in Spain this afternoon. Drizzly rain made the 2.489 miles Ricardo Tormo circuit very slippery and World Champion Valentino Rossi fell in the afternoon, last year’s World Champion Casey Stoner in the morning while the 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden led the way after the two sessions. Rossi’s Valencia jinx continued when he fell at turn 14 in the afternoon from the Fiat Yamaha but like Stoner who crashed at turn ten, he was unhurt. American Hayden making his last appearance for the Repsol Honda team at the circuit where he clinched the world title from Rossi two years ago, led the way from his team-mate Dani Pedrosa.

Crescent Suzuki Wishes Sykes Well

Tom Sykes will leave the official Suzuki British Superbike team, operated by Crescent Motorcycle Co, at the end of this month after a very positive 2008 season. Sykes joined the team at the end of 2007 and they have worked well together throughout 2008, achieving regular podium finishes and three wins in the British Superbike Championship. He also raced to a fine second place finish as a wild card at World Superbike level at Donington Park, standing on the podium alongside World Champion Troy Bayliss.

Wet Start to Final Event of Season in Valencia

Riders endured a wet start to the final race weekend of the season as free practice for Sunday’s Valencia Grand Prix got underway at Circuit Ricardo Tormo today. Honda’s Dani Pedrosa was the quickest Bridgestone-shod rider of the day securing second position on the combined practice standings, just 0.087s off the pace set by Nicky Hayden who was the quickest rider in both morning and afternoon sessions aboard his Honda. A total of five Bridgestone riders were represented in the top ten with Valentino Rossi in fourth place for Yamaha, Casey Stoner in fifth position for Ducati, Sylvain Guintoli in eighth for Alice Team and Shinya Nakano in tenth for Honda Gresini.

Last Round of MotoGP Season for Alice Team

As it happens from many years, the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia will host the last round of the MotoGP World Championship. This is one of the most spectacular circuits included in the calendar because it allows the fans seated on the circuit’s stands to see almost the all track, a unique characteristic between the long tracks included in the World Championship. Last year Sylvain Guintoli made it to qualify with the fifth best lap time and concluded the race in eleventh position. Toni Elias, who started from the fourteenth position, has instead concluded in tenth position. The Spanish rider has obtained his best results on the Valencia circuit in the top class in 2006 by finishing in sixth place.

MotoGP - The Final Showdown

The four British Grand Prix stars race from Malaysia to Valencia in Spain to compete in the traditional final showdown of the MotoGP World Championship in the frenzied atmosphere of the Ricardo Tormo circuit on Sunday. The 2.489 mile tight demanding track will be packed by around 120,000 noisy fans to provide a fitting finale to the season which has turned into a year of great highs and lows for the British riders. Twenty –eight year old James Toseland completes his first season in the premier class of Motor Cycle racing, the MotoGP World Championship and his results in the last two races sum up his fortunes. Two rounds ago he finished a brilliant sixth in Australia after qualifying on the second row of the grid riding the Tech 3 Yamaha. Last week he crashed in the early stages of the race in Malaysia after qualifying 12th.

Four Championship Points for the Alice Team

It isn’t the best race of the season, this is for sure, but Alice Team riders, Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli, have done what was possible today in one of the most difficult race of the season. Started from the last position, Elias also received a penalty for jump-start and had to go for ride through which made him lose many seconds. This hasn’t taken his morale down, but instead the Spanish rider has maintained a good rhythm that made him conquer some positions concluding in fifteenth position. Also Sylvain didn’t start in the best way, concluding the firsts three laps in last position. But lap after lap the French rider made it to find a good feeling overtaking Aoki, Melandri and De Angelis. Alice Team obtains four points for the Teams’ World Championship remaining in the battle for sixth position. Next World Championship round in Valencia for the final race of the season.

Weather Conditions Hamper Alice Team

Qualifying practice to forget for the Alice Team riders, Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli, who didn’t make it to use in the best way the Malaysian track when almost completely dry. During the morning a heavy shower wetted the circuit, but in the last minutes of the qualifying session the surface of the track was almost completely dry. Guintoli didn’t make it to use the second soft tyre at his disposal passing on the finish line only a few second after the conclusion of the hour at his disposal, while Elias couldn’t manage to find the right balance of the bike due to the quick changes of the track surface. The pair will have to use in the best way possible tomorrow morning warm up to improve theirs rhythm for the afternoon race.

Difficult Start for Alice Team at the Malaysian GP

It was a difficult day for the Alice Team riders Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli. At the end of the first free practice the duo were respectively in sixteenth and eighteenth position, making it to improve a little in the second session concluded in fifteenth and sixteenth position. Toni Elias doesn’t make it to find the best feeling with the rear tyre, which is part of the same family of the one used in Phillip Island only two weeks ago, while Guintoli will try a different front tyre that should allow him to make a good improvement. In today’s second session a light shower has wetted the Sepang circuit and it could happen the same also in the next two days seen the unpredictable weather conditions of this area.

Rizla has decided to exit the British Superbike arena after seven successful years which have included many race victories and one British Superbike Championship in 2004.Alison Williams, Rizla Brand Manager said: "After seven years we have made the difficult decision to end our sponsorship of the Suzuki BSB team. I would like to thank all the past and present team members and riders for such a successful sponsorship. We wish the team the very best for the future."

Toseland Looking for Repeat Show in Steamy Sepang

James Toseland arrives at Sepang for the Polini Grand Prix of Malaysia on Sunday determined to repeat his superb ride in the previous round of the MotoGP World Championship in Australia. The Yorkshireman celebrated his 28th birthday with a hard fought sixth place at Phillip Island riding the Tech 3 Yamaha and has been working flat on his stamina to produce a repeat performance or better in very different circumstances at the penultimate round of the Championship.

Elias Grazes the Top Ten

Difficult race for the Alice Team riders Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli. The French rider has found himself in an accident in the second turn and was obligated to go off track with Chris Vermeulen losing almost twenty seconds from the group. From that moment on the pair put their energies together to reach the riders in front of them. Sylvain, injured at his left shoulder blade yesterday morning, grit his teeth and after passing Melandri at half race, overtook Vermeulen on the finish line concluding in fourteenth position. Toni Elias has instead maintained the eleventh position from the third to the last lap bringing home five points for the World classification. The Alice Team is now in seventh position in the Team’s classification, while Elias and Guintoli are respectively in twelfth and thirteenth position in the riders’ classification. Next MotoGP round in Malaysia in two weeks.

Fifth Row for Alice Team in Australia

Sunny day at Phillip Island where the MotoGP riders have battled in the qualifying session valid for the Grand Prix of Australia. The red and white duo didn’t make it to go further than the fifth row with Elias and Guintoli respectively in thirteenth and fourteenth position. The Catalan rider encountered some difficulties with the tyres, while the French rider crashed in the morning session fracturing his left shoulder blade. Not at the best condition he has chosen anyway to step on the bike in the afternoon concluding only a few thousands of a second from his teammate. Thanks to the help of the Clinica Mobile doctors he will try to recover in the best way possible for tomorrow’s race that will start at 4pm local time.

Complicated Weekend for the Alice Team - Guintoli 14th, Elias 16th

Since yesterday’s qualifying session we could have understood that this would have been a difficult race for the Alice Team riders. Started from 14th and 15th position, Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli have concluded the first lap in 15th and 17th place with the French rider in front of the Spaniard. Elias has therefore tired to comeback but during the seventh lap he went off track and when back on track he found himself in last position with many seconds of disadvantages from De Angelis who was the first rider in front of him.

Surely not the best qualifying session of the season for the Alice Team and its rider that during the qualifying session couldn’t make it further than the fourteenth and fifteenth best lap times. Elias, who is in front of his teammate, isn’t in the best physical condition due to illness. Guintoli has a good race rhythm but didn’t make best use of his Bridgestone qualifying tyres.
