Troy Herfoss Cashes in for HMC KTM Racing

HMC KTM Factory rider Troy Herfoss took home his first Premier class win over the weekend at the second round of the AMA Supermoto Series. The momentum kicked off as Herfoss gated against the reigning 450 Supermoto Champion, Mark Burkhart, during the first of two 450 heat races. The KTM rider met the challenge and propelled his 450 SX-F to the lead and made it stick. Herfoss' teammate, Chris Fillmore, also rose to occasion aboard his KTM during heat two with a five-second victory over Cassidy Anderson. This set the scene for a potential four-way battle in the main event.

Dungey Wins at Las Vegas Finale

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing's Ryan Dungey capped off the 2008 AMA Supercross Lites season by not only winning the Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Shootout for the second year in a row, but by also being honoured with the Rising Star Award as well. In the Las Vegas season finale event, Dungey finished second in his heat race and then came from behind to take the win in the 15-lap SX Lites main. Later in the weekend, he was honoured with the new Rising Star award at the Live Nation awards banquet.

Team Makita Suzuki Racing's Ryan Dungey brought home an impressive third-place finish in the Supercross Lites class at the Dallas, Texas Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross at Texas Stadium on Saturday night. "I felt like I got back into the groove even though I made a little mistake," said Dungey. "I'm happy to be on the box tonight. After last week's win, we're one and three and not one and 18, so I'm happy with that for sure. The Makita Suzuki RM-Z250 ran great and everybody on the Makita Suzuki team did a great job on getting the bike ready tonight. Thanks to my mechanic, 'Tool Time' and everybody else who helped me out."

Burkhart suffered a wrist injury during practice and battled valiantly through the evening’s proceedings to climb from fifth into fourth place in the overall championship standings.

Carmichael 6th After Crashing

A heavy crash on the fifth lap of Saturday’s Dallas Supercross dropped World and AMA Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael down to sixth position overall, but he still leads the series. The Makita Suzuki rider had holeshotted the 20-lap Main Event ahead of Chad Reed (Yamaha) and James Stewart (Kawasaki), lost the lead momentarily to Stewart, then got crossed up and fell. The 26-year-old Florida rider dropped outside the top eight, but still managed to climb two places despite riding with a damaged machine.

Four Former Winners Set To Do Battle In Dallas Supercross

Team Shift Motul Suzuki rider, Daryl Hurley racked up a second-place finish in round two of the Australian Motocross Nationals Championship and almost doubled his series points lead at Gilman this weekend. Holding 51 championship points, Hurley headed into the round with a 13-point advantage, scoring fifth and first in the day’s two motos that gave the New Zealander second overall and extended his margin to a massive 25 points over second place.

Said Carmichael: “I feel like I was pretty consistent all night. James Stewart has got six wins now, I’ve got six wins and we’re tied for the World title: It’s what everybody wants to see. But I’m just looking forward to getting better; to improving my performance at the beginning of the race and still being there at the end.”

Hurley Grabs Australian Mx Lead For Team Suzuki

Carmichael Wins Atlanta Supercross

Once again, Ricky Carmichael raced to overall victory in Saturday evening’s Atlanta Supercross at Georgia Dome despite being told days earlier he’d been stripped of his victory in San Diego over an alleged rule infringement. The Makita Suzuki rider took the 20-lap Supercross Main event by 2.9 seconds from series leader Chad Reed (Yamaha) and James Stewart (Kawasaki) as team mate Ivan Tedesco put his RM-Z450 into fourth place.
