Valencia to Pass the MotoGP Torch from 2008 to 2009
23 October 2008
The city of Valencia plays host to the final Grand Prix of the 2008 MotoGP season this Sunday, with the World Championship 'podium' already decided. After seventeen rounds of eighteen around the globe, Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa are already assured of the top three positions in this year's edition of motorcycle racing's elite series. However, the visit to the Ricardo Tormo circuit promises the usual levels of excitement and intrigue, with one of the largest and most passionate race-day crowds roaring on their favourite riders from the grandstands that surround the entire circuit. Not only that, but the two days following the race have become a traditional first outing for the new team line-ups that will form the grid in the upcoming season.

Suffering Stoner Seals Runner-Up Spot at Sepang
20 October 2008
Casey Stoner fought through the pain barrier to finish the Malaysian Grand Prix today, where sixth place in suffocating conditions was enough to seal the runner-up spot in the 2008 MotoGP World Championship with a round to spare. With some of the hottest, most humid conditions the MotoGP circus has ever had to suffer at Sepang and his physical condition still a long way from perfect, the Australian struggled throughout the race with cramps in his right hand - caused by the excessive forced required to compensate for the scaphoid injury to his left. Despite that he chased Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden hard for the final podium position but faded towards the end and eventually conceded fifth place to Shinya Nakano.

Before heading to 'the island' Stoner stopped off in Melbourne on Tuesday and he was given a warm reception by the home fans at Federation Square, in the centre of the Victoria state capital.

Casey Stoner came home a solid fourth in a treacherously difficult Indianapolis Grand Prix, which was hit by severely adverse weather that led to the race being interrupted by red flags with eight of the scheduled laps still remaining. Stoner battled throughout the race with Andrea Dovizioso despite losing rear grip in the early stages and was relieved merely to come out of it in one piece and with a decent points haul.

Thousands of Ducatisti will once again make their presence felt on Sunday as they take over the grandstand in turn one, the "Variante Parco", providing crucial backing to the Italian factory. Both Casey Stoner and Marco Melandri are in the mood to put on a show for them, especially after the results of a recent test session at Brno, where the Australian found a setting that allowed him to go even faster than he had done in last Sunday's race whilst the Italian also made some encouraging progress.

Stoner Slides Out oOf Brno as Melandri Clinches 7th
17 August 2008
Casey Stoner was unable to turn his sixth successive pole position into a podium today when he relinquished a one-second advantage over Valentino Rossi and crashed out of the twelfth round of the season at Brno. It is the first time the reigning World Champion has not made it to the chequered flag after thirty races, since signing for Ducati at the start of 2007, and it leaves him 50 points behind the Italian rider with six races remaining.

The Ducati Marlboro Team is ready to start the final sprint towards 2008 MotoGP World Championship glory, starting off with this weekend's classic appointment at Brno, in the Czech Republic, before a run of six crucial races across Europe, America, Asia and Australia. Casey Stoner, who found himself down in fourth place overall, 50 points behind series leader Valentino Rossi after the Catalunya GP just over two months ago, has put together an incredible run of form to haul himself back into contention. Three wins and a second place from four races make him the form rider in the championship, lifting him to second in the standings, 25 points adrift of the Italian.

Stoner Second in Laguna Blockbuster
22 July 2008 | 2 Comments
Casey Stoner took second place in the US Grand Prix today after an incredible battle with Valentino Rossi. With Ducati Desmosedici RR owner Tom Cruise watching from pit wall, Stoner launched from pole position and was immediately pursued by the Italian, with the pair swapping positions as they left the rest of the field trailing. The stage was set for a big-screen finale but a rare mistake from the Australian in the final turn, just eight laps from the end, saw him run wide into the dirt and drop his Ducati as the front end dipped into the deep gravel. A huge gap of more than 20 seconds over third-placed Chris Vermeulen allowed Stoner to return to the race in second place, but there weren't enough laps left for him to hunt down Rossi.

16 July 2008
The Ducati MotoGP Team tackle the final race before the summer break this weekend just days after Casey Stoner's most recent success at Sachsenring, where the Australian's third consecutive victory and his fourteenth overall for Ducati took his win rate to 50% from 28 races contested so far in the Borgo Panigale factory's colours.

Stoner Dedicates Third Straight Win to His Team
14 July 2008
Casey Stoner paid tribute to his team after picking up his third consecutive winners' trophy and his fourth of the season at Sachsenring. It was another extraordinary performance from the Australian in torrentially wet conditions, which saw several riders crash, including Marco Melandri. The Italian was in the process of a stunning charge through the field and had made his way up to seventh place from sixteenth on the grid, only to crash moments after setting the fastest lap of the race. Stoner, who started from pole, was fourth in the first turn but quickly made his way to second after passes on Colin Edwards and Andrea Dovizioso. He then waited patiently until the tyres were up to temperature before stepping up the pace and when race leader Dani Pedrosa crashed, he controlled a comfortable advantage over the field to take the flag by 3.708 seconds from Valentino Rossi.

Second Straight Win for Stoner
30 June 2008
Casey Stoner took his second consecutive victory and his third of the season at Assen, to complete a clean sweep after taking pole position and setting the fastest lap of the race. The Australian dominated the race from start to finish, closing the gap to new series leader Dani Pedrosa to 29 points and bringing himself to within 25 of Valentino Rossi in second place. On a day of typically changeable weather in Holland, Stoner started out well with the fastest time in a wet warm-up before carrying his dominance into the race. After briefly conceding the lead to Dani Pedrosa on the first lap he quickly reasserted himself and opened out an advantage that eventually stretched to 11.310 seconds over the Spaniard.

Ducati Marlboro Reach Halfway Stage at Dutch TT
24 June 2008
Just hours after Casey Stoner's stunning victory in the British GP, the Ducati Marlboro Team were back on the road with the sat-nav systems set for Assen, where the 78th edition of the "Dutch TT" takes place this Saturday. The legendary road race was chosen to form part of the inaugural World Championship back in 1949 and it has remained an integral part of the calendar ever since. Last Sunday's success represented Stoner's 40th podium from 103 career starts, 19 of which have been victories. It is a ratio the Australian youngster would love to improve as he continues to work from an improved base set-up that he hopes can give him another shot at the podium in Holland.

Donington Domination for Stoner
24 June 2008
Casey Stoner took his second victory of the season and the 40th podium of his career today with a dominant display at Donington Park. As a result the reigning MotoGP World Champion moved up a place to third in the championship, closing the gap by five points to series leader Valentino Rossi and by nine to Dani Pedrosa, who finished in second and third place respectively. Yesterday's rain gave way to high winds today but the dry conditions suited Stoner perfectly and the youngster produced a faultless display from the first lap. Things were much trickier for Melandri, who was unable to rediscover his positive feeling from the first day and ended up down in sixteenth place.

Ducati Marlboro Prepare for Donington
17 June 2008
After two demanding back-to-back races at Mugello and Barcelona, followed by an important two-day test at the Catalunya circuit, the Ducati Marlboro Team now face up to another double-header on two of the World Championship's most historic circuits. The first takes place in the unpredictable surroundings of Donington Park, a circuit that combines a high-speed opening section followed by a series of tight and twisty hairpins, where the only consistent thing about the weather is its inconsistency.

Ducati Marlboro Team to Continue Challenge at Catalunya
05 June 2008
After seeing Casey Stoner take a valuable podium in the Grand Prix of Italy, where Marco Melandri also made progress in the race before being forced off track by a crash for Randy De Puniet, the Ducati Marlboro Team now heads to Barcelona to continue its challenge for honours in the Grand Prix of Catalunya. The Circuit de Catalunya witnessed the Italian factory's first ever MotoGP back in 2003 and last year played host to a breathtaking battle between Casey Stoner, Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa that the Australian won by a hair's breadth. Stoner also took second place at this track in the 250cc race in 2005, whilst Melandri's success here started with a podium in the 125cc race in 1999, followed by victory in the 250cc class in 2002 and third place finishes in MotoGP in 2004 and 2005.

Ducati Marlboro Return to Europe for French GP
13 May 2008
The MotoGP World Championship returns to Europe for the Grand Prix of France as the season enters its busiest phase, with five races coming up over the next seven weekends. Despite finishing on the podium in the last round at Shanghai, reigning World Champion Casey Stoner was disappointed that he hadn't been able to repeat his pace from practice in the race and his target for this weekend is to return to his usual highly-competitive self. Marco Melandri achieved his objective in China by improving his feeling with the bike and fighting for a top position, so his clear objective for France is to continue with that level of progression. Stoner has a decent record at Le Mans, having finished on the podium last year and only just missing out with fourth place as a rookie in 2006. Melandri actually won that race two years ago and he finished an impressive second last season.
