Following a successful three-year partnership, Red Bull and KTM have reached a mutual decision to discontinue the Supermoto Junior Euro-Cup as of the coming season. The concept of the Supermoto competition to promote up-and-coming junior talent was established with the goal of discovering talented young riders and to accompany them on their way to professional motor sport. Despite the successful realisation of this idea and the exemplary commitment of all sponsors and partners, KTM has decided that in the future it will concentrate on direct sporting competition together with its competitors.
On May 6 the Red Bull KTM Supermoto Junior Euro Cup- Rider Search was held at Harzring in Germany. 80 young and promising talents from 12 European countries, aged between 15 and 21, competed under observation of KTM team manager Klaus Kinigadner and German Supermoto Champion Jürgen Kuenzel. In the morning the young riders had to pass training skills to get a feeling for the new bike and training runs on demanding Harzring, followed by the qualification races in the afternoon. Although some of the rookies experienced difficulties in the off road section, most of them showed a strong performance.
