Wrigley Secure British Superbike Sponsorship

Wrigley has today announced that it has signed as an Official Partner of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, which will see them launch the ‘Airwaves® Kick Up A Gear™ Award’ for the 2008 season. The sponsorship sees Wrigley reinforce their commitment to motorcycling in the UK, as they are already the title sponsor of the Airwaves® Ducati team who compete in the championship.

Full Grid & New Title Sponsor For British Supersport Championship

The 2008 British Supersport Championship, which is second only to the British Superbike Championship in terms of prestige, will be sponsored by the world's largest specialist motorcycle and motorsport lubricants provider, Fuchs-Silkolene. As well as the Supersport class title sponsorship, Fuchs-Silkolene also becomes the official oil and lubricants partner to the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

MotorSport Vision Takes Over BSB Championship

The World’s premier domestic motorcycle racing championship is in safe hands with the news that Jonathan Palmer’s MotorSport Vision Company has signed a ten year agreement with the Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board to be responsible for the organisation and promotion of the British Superbike Championship with immediate effect. The championship has, since its re-launch in its current form in 1996, not only revitalised motorcycle racing in the UK with innovative promotions and television coverage but it has also played a key role in the career paths of riders, among them Troy Bayliss, Neil Hodgson and James Toseland, who subsequently graduated to World Champions, while others such as Shane Byrne moved into MotoGP.

Major Players Confirm Their Riders For 08 BSB Campaign

It’s all change in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship as three of the major players confirm their riders for the 2008 campaign which looks all set to be the best ever with an intriguing mix of youth and experience chasing the honours. Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne is fully geared to regain the crown that he won back in 2003 as he links up with the Airwaves Ducati team aboard one of their all-new 1098R machines in the new look action which permits the 1200cc twins into the action.

Mondello Park Abandoned For Virgin Mobile Yamaha

Rain stopped play at the fifth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Mondello Park after torrential rain flooded the Irish circuit. The rain thrashed the 2.176 mile long track and built up throughout the morning and early afternoon with several inches of standing water on the circuit. Despite the best efforts of the marshalls and staff, the decision was finally taken to cancel races.

The fifth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship had to be cancelled today, for the first time in BSB history, due to extreme wet weather conditions at Mondello Park, Co Kildare.

Race Marshalls Use Yamaha Machines At MotoGP, WSB and BSB

Yamaha UK are pleased to continue their support of the MCRCB, the British Superbike organisers, this year supplying Aerox and XT660R machines for use as paddock control and rider pick-up vehicles. These machines have already been put to good use at the very wet opening BSB rounds picking up stricken riders at Brands Hatch and Donington. Factory racers of all types will also benefit at the two World Superbike rounds and MOTOGP events held in the UK.
