Four Top Ten Finishes for MSS
With sun beating down on the famous Kent circuit, Brands Hatch on Sunday was a million miles away from the snow bound, depressing sight it was just a few weeks ago. Race one saw both MSS Discovery riders make a good start and avoid any early lap issues which can so easily cost places. A race long scrap with ex Grad Prix rider, James Ellison, saw Easton display his usual accuracy and smooth riding style. Dicing with Ellison for many laps, eventually the Hawick based rider had to give best and finished in seventh place when his rear tyre moved on its rim which in turn, caused vibration and had an effect on the handling of his Ninja ZX-10R.

Byrne & Crutchlow Take the Victories at Brands
5 Days ago
Cal Crutchlow powered through the pain barrier to take third place, adrift of Shane Byrne and Tom Sykes, and then took a victory in the re-scheduled round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch. The HM Plant Honda rider sustained a dislocated right ankle and ligament damage in a crash in the Holiday Monday round at Oulton Park and was passed fit to race after lengthy treatment by the Coventry City physio and series’ medics. He had started alongside Byrne at the front of the grid – the positions had been decided five weeks earlier at the snow aborted opening round, and in total contrast the races were fought out over a sun-drenched Kent grand prix circuit.

MSS Discovery Kawasaki Up for Brands
09 May 2008
Before snow blanketed the 2.6 mile Kent circuit cancelling the opening round of the 2008 British Superbike Championship, spirits in the MSS team ran high. Off the back of a successful winter testing schedule with their new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R race machines, both riders had pronounced themselves satisfied with the machines in UK race form and their qualifying positions. For Nick Morgan, Team Principle, the return to Brands Hatch is much anticipated.

Series Leader Byrne Confident of More Success
08 May 2008
Shane Byrne heads confidently into his favourite Brands Hatch circuit for the rescheduled round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend intent on tightening his grip on the title that he last held five year ago. The Airwaves Ducati rider has won three of the four races held so far, opening up a 39 points advantage over his team-mate Leon Camier and unusually as Byrne prepares for these races, on the demanding grand prix circuit, that could be crucial to his hopes, he already knows that he will be on pole position for them.

MSS Discovery Dig Deep at Oulton
08 May 2008
The mixed fortunes of racing again visited themselves on the MSS Discovery team with extremes of emotion characterising their visit to the Oulton Park circuit. Race one saw the team immediately experiencing both extremes with a magnificent points scoring ride from Stuart Easton while his team mate Billy McConnell definitely thought his cards had been dealt from the bottom of the pack. With conditions on the start line overcast, race one was started with several riders expressing concern that conditions on other parts of the Cheshire circuit were less than ideal for racing on full slick tyres.

Daily Double for Byrne Puts Him in Control in Title Stakes
05 May 2008
Shane Byrne took a winning double in an incident littered Oulton Park round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship to tighten his grip on the crown. The first race was stopped on the opening lap when five riders, including early leader Tom Sykes, tipped off in three incidents and with rain falling prior to the re-start the teams gambled on tyre choice.

Confident Crutchlow Puts in Late Charge to Take Pole
05 May 2008
Cal Crutchlow, fresh from the maiden race victory last time out, powered his HM Plant Honda onto pole start for the Holiday Monday third round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park, running half a second clear of the Airwaves Ducati rider, Shane Byrne, with whom he shares the lead in the title stakes.

The HM Plant Honda proved to be the man for all conditions in the Swan Combi 50 - Roll for Pole grid deciding session which had begun on a wet Cheshire circuit. Crutchlow set the early pace, maintaining the form that he had shown throughout the earlier free practice sessions.

Crutchlow, who jointly leads the early season title chase with Shane Byrne, was delighted with his continuing progress: “We’ve tried one or two things and have made a big positive step forward. Shane Byrne and Cal Crutchlow power into the Holiday Monday round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on level terms but as they plan their tactics for riding the picturesque Oulton Park circuit they need to take check the form of both Michael Rutter and Karl Harris. Rutter excelled in the recent Thruxton round, bagging a pair of thirds on the North West 200 Ducati while Harris, still sporting the bruises from his heavy crash last time out, has a good record at the Cheshire circuit, recording his best ever Superbike result, second, there last July.

One Step Backwards & Two Steps Forward For MSS Discovery
22 April 2008
Pulling success from the jaws of defeat is perhaps overstating the case, but to the casual observer, the pre-race qualifying of the two MSS Discovery riders at Thruxton did little or nothing to suggest the impact they would make on the meeting. Billed as the season opener in light of the cancellation of the Brands Hatch round, the official Kawasaki Motors UK entry in the 2008 British Superbike Championship had their fare share of challenges in qualifying as team principle, Nick Morgan, explains.

The CJ Fund used the weekend to their advantage and had a practice run with their new CJ Unit, which worked perfectly and was situated in an ideal spot at Brands. 04 April 2008
Shane Byrne headed off the determined challenges of Leon Haslam in free practice ahead of the Sunday’s opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. The two riders duelled for top spot, but it was Byrne, riding the all-new Airwaves Ducati 1098R, who came out on top, though by little more than a third of a second after the two 50 minute sessions. Byrne, who hails from nearby Sittingbourne, but who now lives in Zurich, has a special affinity with the Kent circuit: “As well as being my local circuit, it is the first place that I ever raced, and I won that day and was given the man of the meeting award.”
