Bird Takes Team To World Superbikes

Following on from discussions with his team’s current sponsors this week, double BSB winning team owner Paul Bird will make an audacious bid to land the World Superbike Championship next season. After negotiations with his 2007 riders Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and Tom Sykes came to nothing, Bird brokered a deal with his backers which will see them all remain with the team for 2008 and as well as that budget, the Cumbrian poultry magnate has been offered some help from the HRC factory also.

Double Podium Joy For Stobart At Ulster Grand Prix

Stobart Motorsport celebrated a pair of rare podium finishes with a superb performance by Ian Lougher at today’s Ulster Grand Prix. The Irish based Welshman, who has been riding for the Stobart Motorsport Team at all the major road races this season, secured a second and third place finish at the event held on the Dundrod circuit to the West of Belfast.

Rutter Muscled Out Of It At Croft

Stobart Motorsport rider Michael Rutter was left ruing his luck at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire as he left round ten of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship a disappointed man. Riding the VK and Vent Axia backed Honda Fireblade, the 33 year old Midlander qualified on row two of the grid and despite the threatening weather; he posted a battling sixth place finish in the opening 20 lap race.

More Points For Stobarts Rutter At Oulton Park

Stobart Motorsport rider Michael Rutter added to his points tally by scoring a sixth and seventh place finish in round nine of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship held at a hot and sunny Oulton Park, Cheshire today. Riding the VK and Vent Axia backed Honda Fireblade the 33 year old Midlander qualified on row two of the grid before following up a sixth place finish in the opening 17 lap race with a battling seventh place in leg two to end the day in eighth place in the Championship.

High Fives For Stobart'S Laverty At Knockhill

Stobart Motorsport rider Michael Laverty weighed in a pair of fifth place finishes in round eight of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship held at a warm and sunny Knockhill in Scotland today. After qualifying on row two of the grid on the VK and Vent Axia backed Honda Fireblade, the 25 year old Ulsterman was hoping to repeat the podium placing of 2005 but after a good start in the opening race, he faded back but held onto fifth at the end of the hectic thirty laps. In race two, Laverty battled in the chasing pack and repeated his feat to consolidate his seventh place in the standings.

Stobarts Laverty Just Misses Podium At Sunny Snetterton

Stobart Motorsport rider Michael Laverty missed out on his first rostrum of the season by less than a quarter of a second at the action packed round seven of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Snetterton in Norfolk today. Riding the VK and Vent Axia backed 1000cc Honda Fireblade, Laverty suffered a number of problems throughout the weekend but after finishing fifth in the opening race today he was well placed in race two when out came the red flags due to an accident.

Fifth For Stobart's Laverty At Sun Kissed Mallory

Stobart Motorsport rider Michael Laverty emerged with a best finish of fifth position following on round six of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship held at Mallory Park in Leicestershire today. Riding the VK and Vent Axia backed Honda Fireblade, the 24 year old Ulsterman celebrated his impending birthday in fine style by following up his fifth position in the opening race with a strong result in race two to claim seventh after the two hectic 28 lap races around the revised Mallory circuit.

Second Place For Rutter

Stobart Motorsport rider Michael Rutter claimed second place in today’s Kennedy International North West 200 but was left cursing his luck after not adding to his tally of eleven victories. Riding the VK Vodka Kick and Vent Axia backed Honda Fireblade, the 33 year old Midlander was comfortably leading both of today’s Superbike races in front of a massive crowd and in perfect conditions at the nine mile County Antrim closed roads circuit.

Front Row For Rutter

Stobart Motorsport rider Michael Rutter will start Saturday’s Kennedy International North West 200 from the front row after finishing third in tonight’s final qualifying session. Riding the VK Vodka Kick and Vent Axia backed Honda Fireblade, Rutter held fastest time for much of the second night’s practice, held again in perfect conditions, after finishing fastest on Tuesday evening around the Causeway Coast circuit in Northern Ireland.

Stobart Honda Rack Up Points At Thruxton

Stobart Motorsport riders Michael Rutter and Michael Laverty emerged from round three of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship with some more solid points following on the first dry meeting of the 2006 season at Thruxton in Hampshire. In front of a record crowd and just prior to celebrating his 32nd birthday, Leicestershire rider Rutter scored a sixth and seventh place finish in both 22 lap races following on from problems encountered during qualifying and as a result goes into the next round at Oulton Park in joint seventh position in the Championship.

Laverty Fourth At Rain Lashed Donington

Stobart Motorsport rider Michael Laverty overcame some of the worst conditions seen in recent years by recording a fourth and seventh place finish in round two of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at a wet and windy Donington Park today. The 24 year old from Toomebridge, Co Antrim followed up a superb fourth place in the opening leg, held in the dry conditions, with a battling seventh in the deluge which was race two to end up sixth in the Championship going into next weekend’s third round at Thruxton.
