Haslam Needs Home Victory

Leon Haslam aims to make local knowledge count as he races his Airwaves Ducati in the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park on Sunday 23 September. The rider from nearby Smalley needs to complete a daily winning double to keep his outside hope of taking the crown for the first time but has to overcome the threat posed by the HM Plant Honda duo of Ryuichi Kiyonari and Jonathan Rea.

Top Six For Stobarts Sykes At Silverstone

Stobart Vent Axia Motorsport rider Tom Sykes salvaged some pride from a disappointing weekend when round three of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship took place at Silverstone today. Riding the VK backed Honda Fireblade, the 21 year old Huddersfield rider followed up a seventh place in race one with a sixth place in race two which was red flagged a few laps early due to an oil spillage.

Stobarts Shakey Bumped Off Silverstone Pole In Final Minute

Stobart Vent Axia Motorsport rider Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne very nearly claimed the first pole position in three long years for Paul Bird’s team when he looked to have set fastest time in qualifying today for round three of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Silverstone. The 30 year old Londoner lapped the 2.21 mile Northamptonshire circuit in a time of 1m 25.616s and looked to have boxed off the fastest time as out came the red flags with just eleven minutes of the session remaining.

Stobarts Byrne Sizzles to Thruxton Podium

Stobart Vent Axia Motorsport rider Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne got his 2007 Bennetts British Superbike Championship bid back on course with a superb podium finish at a hot and sunny Thruxton circuit in Hampshire today. Aboard the VK backed 1000cc Fireblade, the 30 year old just missed out on a podium in the opening 22 lap classic whereby he finished in fourth position but made amends with a brilliant third place finish in the second race which was played out in front of another record crowd.

Front Row Start for Stobarts's Byrne

Stobart Vent Axia Motorsport rider Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne put in a tremendous lap of 1m14.644s at a hot and sunny Thruxton today and as a result will start tomorrow’s two rounds of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship from the front row of the grid. The 30 year old Londoner posted third fastest time on the VK backed Honda Fireblade 1000cc having held pole position for much of the fifty minute session at the Hampshire circuit.

Solid Points Start For Team Stobart

Stobart Vent Axia Motorsport riders Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and Tom Sykes recorded a top five finish apiece at a drama packed opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in the Brands Hatch sunshine today. Riding the VK backed Honda Fireblades, Byrne fought his way through the pack in race one to end up in a fine fourth place with Sykes doing likewise in race two to end up in fifth as the most hotly contested championship in recent years was played out in front of over 40,000 fans at the Kent circuit.

Stobart Set For Brands Blast Off

The 2007 Bennetts British Superbike Championship gets underway at Brands Hatch in Kent this Easter weekend with the all-new Stobart Vent Axia Motorsport Team of Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and Tom Sykes ready to do battle. Paul Bird’s team has re-signed the 30 year old ex MotoGP star Byrne after he landed the title for them back in 2003 and the Zurich-residing Londoner has shown very good pace in pre-season testing aboard the 1000cc Honda.

Shakey And Sykes Sign For Stobart

After weeks of speculation, Paul Bird Motorsport is pleased to announce that Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and Tom Sykes are the two riders to contest the 2007 British Superbike Championship for the Stobart Honda team. Following two seasons in MotoGP followed by a year back in BSB in 2006, 29 year old Byrne, originally from Sittingbourne in Kent but now resident in Zurich, rejoins the team that took him to the 2003 British Superbike Championship as well as a double World Superbike victory aboard a Ducati.

Four In Top Six For Stobart At Macau

Stobart Motorsport riders Michael Rutter, Ian Hutchinson, Stuart Easton and John McGuinness filled four of the top six placings to round off a successful event at the Rio Hotel Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix. Michael Rutter was unable to add to his tally of six wins after having to settle for second place behind Steve Plater, whilst Ian Hutchinson claimed the final rostrum position in third for the VK and Vent Axia backed Stobart Honda team.

Stobart Motorsport riders Michael Rutter and Ian Hutchinson made their intentions clear by posting first and second fastest times after today’s first qualifying session for the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix. Aboard the Vent Axia and VK backed Honda Fireblade which he has campaigned all season in the British Superbike Championship, 33-year old Rutter came within a fraction of beating his own qualifying lap record as he topped the timesheets in the one-hour session earlier today as he aims to become the first man to win the Far East classic seven times.

Stobarts Rutter Bounces Back At Sunny Silverstone

Stobart Motorsport rider Michael Rutter took advantage of the gloriously sunny conditions by posting his second best result of the season at the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Silverstone today. Riding the VK and Vent Axia sponsored Honda Fireblade Rutter qualified on row two of the grid and in the opening twenty lap race ran with the leading bunch in the early stages. With renewed confidence Rutter hung on to take a deserved fifth place at the flag just behind the factory Honda of Jonathan Rea.

The Camel Yamaha rider’s visits to the North Yorkshire market town have become part of his build up to the British Grand Prix since he switched from World Superbikes where he was a double Champion. Colin will be joined by Australian Casey Stoner who is having a sensational first season in MotoGP after moving up from the 250cc GP class.

Red Bull Rea Fastest In Practice

Jonathan Rea topped the free practice leaderboard ahead of Sunday’s double race second round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park. The Red Bull Honda rider lapped consistently quickly throughout both sessions, eclipsed in the closing stages of the morning by the defending champion Gregorio Lavilla but powering back to head the action during the afternoon.
