Atrocious weather conditions plagued the first two days of the Donington Park meeting, with every single WSB session held in wet conditions. Any drying track surfaces were soon covered by the waves of rain that came in day and night. A wet Superpole - 12 laps for each rider over a 50-minute session - was taken by Troy Bayliss on his Ducati, making this his sixth pre-race win of the year.
Rizla Suzuki's Tom Sykes kept his cool during a red-flagged aggregated race one at the 11th round of the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park today to take a close second place to Troy Bayliss after leading for a large part of the race.
Team Alstare Suzuki rider Xavi Simeon ended the first day of qualifying with the second quickest time despite difficult conditions. Heavy rain battered the 4.023 kilometre throughout the day, ensuring that the track was slippery in both sessions. Brendan Roberts (Ducati) set the day’s fastest lap, just a tenth of a second or so quicker then Xavi. Third is Jon Kirkham (Yamaha), with Chris Seaton (Suzuki) fourth.
