Series Leader Byrne Confident of More Success
08 May 2008
Shane Byrne heads confidently into his favourite Brands Hatch circuit for the rescheduled round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend intent on tightening his grip on the title that he last held five year ago. The Airwaves Ducati rider has won three of the four races held so far, opening up a 39 points advantage over his team-mate Leon Camier and unusually as Byrne prepares for these races, on the demanding grand prix circuit, that could be crucial to his hopes, he already knows that he will be on pole position for them.

Bennetts BSB Pirelli Race Review Oulton Park
06 May 2008
In race 1 the drama engulfed the opening British Superbike race at Oulton Park. With rain spotting as the riders took their positions at the end of the sighting lap, the red flag brought a swift conclusion as a host of riders, including holeshot rider Tom Sykes, crashing at the first corner. A swift re-start ensued of the full 18-lap race distance. Sykes took the holeshot on his Rizla Suzuki again, stretching his lead to almost a second from Crutchlow’s HM Plant Honda by the culmination of the opening lap. Byrne, Haslam and Camier fought doggedly for third as Crutchlow took the lead with a classic manoeuvre at Lodge on lap 2.

Shane Byrne & Cal Crutchlow Take The Victories
21 April 2008
Shane Byrne and Cal Crutchlow were the race winners as the Bennetts British Superbike Championship began for real at Thruxton, and with them each taking a second place, they left the Hampshire circuit as the joint leaders of the series, ahead of the rejuvenated Michael Rutter who took a brace of third placings. Byrne, riding the Airwaves Ducati, had repeated the pole starting ride of the snow aborted Brands Hatch opening round, but he was out-started by Leon Haslam and Michael Rutter, before Cal Crutchlow swooped ahead to lead at the end of the opening lap.

Byrne Sets Early Standard In Free Practice
04 April 2008
Shane Byrne headed off the determined challenges of Leon Haslam in free practice ahead of the Sunday’s opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. The two riders duelled for top spot, but it was Byrne, riding the all-new Airwaves Ducati 1098R, who came out on top, though by little more than a third of a second after the two 50 minute sessions. Byrne, who hails from nearby Sittingbourne, but who now lives in Zurich, has a special affinity with the Kent circuit: “As well as being my local circuit, it is the first place that I ever raced, and I won that day and was given the man of the meeting award.”
