Cairoli Keeps Pourcel From Home Victory
11 June 2007
De Carli Yamaha's Antonio Cairoli dominated both MX2 motos from start to finish ahead of Frenchman Christophe Pourcel and Tyla Rattray in the seventh round of the FIM MX2 World Championship at St Jean d'Angely for the Grand Prix of France. 28,000 fans enjoyed cloudy but later on bright and very warm temperatures. The hard, fast and flat layout in western France near the coastline did not lend itself to great racing with many MX2 riders circulating at the same speed and only slight mistakes allowing any significant position changes. This meant that both Grand Prix motos of 35 minutes and 2 laps duration were tough mental tests for the elite and the heat and humidity added a harsh physical edge.

Pourcel Runner-Up At His home Grand Prix
11 June 2007
The World Championship was back in Europe this weekend two weeks after the trip to Japan. On their home track of Saint Jean d’Angely the French riders left without celebrating any victory. Christophe Pourcel finished runner-up in the MX2 class, while Sébastien Pourcel took seventh place in MX1. Christophe owned a holeshot and won his qualifying race on Saturday and entered the starting grid first for the races. He chose a place in the middle of the gate for the opening moto but missed a decent start as he was around the tenth into the first corner. Sixth after the first lap, he needed seven circulations to come back to second behind Cairoli, who proved again to be a strong leader.
