Molyneux & Sayle Take IOM TT Podium

Dave Molyneux and passenger Dan Sayle took an impressive runner-up finish in today's Sure Mobile Sidecar race two at the 2008 Isle of Man TT races. Following the disappointment of a 'DNF' earlier in the week, Team Molyneux Suzuki were back at the sharp end once more, battling with rivals Nick Crowe and Mark Cox for the three lap race this afternoon.

Charley Boorman Learns About Life On 3-Wheels

Actor & adventurer Charley Boorman visited Watsonian-Squire, the longest established sidecar manufacturer in the world, for an intensive training session to learn how to drive a sidecar outfit, in preparation for his forthcoming expedition. Driving a sidecar outfit is very different to riding a motorcycle as it needs to be steered using the handlebars rather than by leaning into corners, and Watsonian have used 96 years of experience to develop an induction course for novices.

Triumph Rocket III & Watsonian Monaco Sidecar Outfit

Watsonian-Squire sidecars celebrate their 95th anniversary this year and so it is fitting that the first outfit to roll out of their factory in the Heart of England in 2007 is British through and through. The 140 BHP 2300cc Triumph Rocket III was supplied through Black Country Motorcycles of Dudley and Watsonian built and fitted a Watsonian Monaco Jubilee, painted to match bike’s distinctive colour scheme.

Influx Of Sidecar Newcomers Set For TT 2007

Following hot on the heels of the successful rider recruitment programme of the last two years, no less than thirteen sidecar crews visited the Isle of Man last week in preparation for their circuit debuts later this year. The recruitment of high calibre solo newcomers has been well documented but race organisers have been equally keen to see a similar trend occur in the F2 Sidecar class and this is now paying dividends.

Triumph Rocket III Sidecar Outfit

Britain’s Watsonian-Squire sidecars work closely with EZS of the Netherlands and the two companies displayed a stunning Triumph Rocket III and EZS Munro outfit at this year’s Motorcycle Show at the NEC. The sophisticated Munro sidecar was developed to suit both left and right-hand attachment and offers a comfortable place for two passengers thanks to its generous seat width of 820mm. The spacious boot has a volume of 380L, giving ample luggage carrying capacity. Both its appearance and its size suit mid- (e.g. BMW boxers) to large (e.g. Gold Wing) motorcycles.

Sidecar Newcomers Weekend

The Isle of Man Department of Tourism and Leisure would like to hear from any Sidecar team who are considering entering the Isle of Man TT Races in 2007 for the first time. The Department plan to hold a circuit learning weekend form newcomers in January 2007 with expert tuition from some of the greatest sidecar competitors in TT history as well as opportunities to meet the race organisers on top of gifts including complimentary on board DVD’s and other items that may aid debutants to the greatest road race in the world!

Demand For British Sidecars Increases From Dublin To Tokyo

Increased demand for American-style custom cruiser motorcycles has provided a welcome boost for Britain’s biggest sidecar manufacturer. Watsonian Squire, who have been making sidecars in the Midlands since 1912, report a significant increase in demand from overseas for their classic sidecars.

Another Crash In Practice At TT

Practice for the Isle of Man TT races this afternoon was marred by an incident involving top sidecar pairing Dave Molyneux and Craig Hallam. Driver Molyneux, an 11-time TT winner and current lap-record holder, and passenger Hallam came to grief at the Rencullen section of the course.

World Championship Sidecars at Castle Combe

Castle Combe has just been given the go-ahead to host the first World Championship sidecar event ever to be held at their circuit. Following a circuit inspection by ten times World Champion Steve Webster and Max Deubel, four times World Sidecar Champion, representing the FIM (Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme), Mick Boddice, nine times TT winner and three times British Champion representing the ACU, the Motorcycle sports’ UK governing body offering advice on behalf of all the teams and riders.
