Rutter Takes First Victory in Over Three Years
5 Days ago
Michael Rutter powered in a popular victory in a dramatic sixth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship as he headed off the challenge of runaway series leading Shane Byrne in a rain affected second race at Mallory Park. Earlier in the afternoon the Airwaves Ducati rider had taken his eighth victory and he was not too concerned about having to settle for second best to his North West 200 Ducati rival who had gambled correctly on tyre choice. Rutter, regarded as something of a circuit expert, decided that the rains had passed and the Leicestershire track would dry – he opted to run on slick tyres and that decision was a winner as a dry line quickly developed.

One Two for Byrne & Airwaves Ducati
Airwaves Ducati leave Mallory Park 1st and 3rd in the championship after Shane Byrne secured a win and a 2nd place finish and Leon Camier achieved a 8th place in round six today. Shane was in 5th as the leading group moved away from the rest of the field. He then picked off the Suzuki and two Honda‚s, eventually taking the lead on lap 26. He pulled away to take the chequered flag and his 8th win of the season.

Postive Start for Airwaves Ducati
28 June 2008
It was a tentative start to the 6th round of the British Superbike championship at Mallory Park today, as wet weather resulted in limited track time. The Airwaves Ducati team had completed 76 laps in a dry first session, more than any of their competitors, however Shane and Leon chose not to return to the track for second wet practice. Shane was fastest for much of the first 50 minute session, recording his best time of 56.793 on lap 17 of 39. This time held the number one spot until the final 2 minutes when he was pushed down into 2nd place. Leon saw a continual improvement in his times in the final 15 minutes of practice. His fastest time of 57.049 came on his final lap to place him in 5th.

Byrne Hoping for Double Celebration
27 June 2008
Airwaves Ducati star, Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne, arrives at Mallory Park this weekend hoping to score on two fronts. In addition to seeking further race wins to extend his lead at the top of the British Superbike Championship standings, ‘Shakey’ will be keeping one eye on Spain’s Euro 2008 final preparations against Germany. With no domestic interest, the Spaniards have been Byrne’s team of choice due to the amount of time he spends in the country, and the hospitality he received after Airwaves Ducati’s recent pre season testing session at Calafat.

Airwaves Ducati Look to Continue Form
26 June 2008
Airwaves Ducati travel to the 1.41 mile Mallory Park circuit in Leicestershire this weekend, for round six of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. Shane Byrne enjoyed a win and a third place at the short but demanding circuit in 2007, whilst Leon achieved two 8th place finishes. Although it is one of their less favoured circuits on the calendar, the Airwaves Ducati riders arrive at Mallory Park confident having achieved a double one-two at Snetterton a couple of weeks ago. Leon Camier, who secured his debut BSB win at Snetterton and is now 2nd in the championship behind his team mate, is confident for a positive performance.

Byrne Comfortably Ahead, But Does Fight-back Start Here?
24 June 2008
Shane Byrne heads the Bennetts British Superbike Championship going into the sixth round at Mallory Park this weekend but the Airwaves Ducati rider is expecting his rivals to begin their fight-back in the title stakes at the short, but demanding Leicestershire circuit. The Spanish based rider has won seven of the ten races held so far, opening up a commanding 83 points advantage ahead of his team-mate Leon Camier, and he goes into these races in confident mood, having won one of the two races in the corresponding round of last year. Byrne then was riding for Honda, and the winner of the other race last term, Ryuichi Kiyonari, was also aboard a Fireblade and it is those two results that give the pursuing pack the belief that they can start claw back the points.

15 June 2008
Leon Camier enjoyed maiden race winning glory in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in the first race of the fifth round at Snetterton but his Airwaves Ducati team-mate Shane Byrne headed him off with a spectacular ride in the difficult wet conditions of the second race. The Airwaves Ducati rider, who had made the early running in the session, had come under fire from HM Plant Honda rider Leon Haslam before Crutchlow, currently second into the title stakes, though 68 points down on Byrne, took over at the top of the qualifying leaderboard.

Airwaves Ducati Prepare for Super-Fast Snetterton
12 June 2008
Airwaves Ducati return to the track this weekend for round 5 of the British Superbike Championship at Snetterton. The team head to the Norfolk circuit with Shane Byrne leading the championship on 190 points and team mate Leon Camier in 3rd on 107 points. The 1.95 mile Snetterton circuit is one of the fastest on the BSB calendar, the speed required on its long straights coupled with few opportunities to overtake makes it a challenging circuit for the Ducati 1098R's. However following the teams‚ impressive results at Donington 3 weeks ago, where Shane achieved a double win and Leon secured 4th and 5th positions, Airwaves Ducati are positive about the weekend ahead.

GSE Racing Focus on the Season Ahead
10 June 2008
Further to the issue by the MCRCB of their general bulletin 2008/9, GSE Racing wishes to make the following comment. "We firmly believe that this weight increase is wholly unjustified, and has been made without any regard to the actual performance comparison between the Ducati 1098R Superbike and its 4-cylinder competitors. However, following a meeting with the MCRCB at Brands Hatch on Friday, we are pleased that they agreed to our proposal to provide a tolerance of 2kg to the minimum weight of 175kg thereby allowing us to be able to continue our racing activities in this years British Superbike Championship, whilst keeping to within the safe dry weight parameters as instructed by Ducati Corse."

Shane Byrne dominated race one, leading for all but two laps, taking the chequered flag 2.4 seconds ahead of his nearest rival. Leon Camier had to work hard to regain places having dropped down the field from the start. The introduction of the safety car on lap eight enabled him to close the gap on the riders ahead and he battled it out to eventually take 5th place on the final lap.

Surefooted Byrne Defies the Rain to Comfortably Claim Pole
25 May 2008
Shane Byrne proved to be the man for all conditions as he powered comfortably clear of the pack in the rain-lashed grid decider to take his third pole start of the season ahead of the fourth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park. The Airwaves Ducati rider had earlier run strongly in the dry free practice sessions but in a dramatic, incident packed Swan Combi 50 Roll for Pole session the series leader saved the best for last. Byrne had overcome the challenge of MSS Discover Kawasaki rider Billy McConnell with a time that was seemingly good enough to ensure top spot on the leaderboard but he had not reckoned on the determined ride from his long standing rival Michael Rutter aboard the North West 200 Ducati.
