Colin Edwards remains firmly in the hunt for a top five world championship finish in 2009 after a tough Malaysian MotoGP race this afternoon. Optimistic of a top six challenge in the dry, two days of hard work and preparation in hot and humid conditions counted for nothing after a torrential downpour saturated the 5.548km circuit just 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the 21-lap race.

The Shell Advance Motorcycle Grand Prix brought the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team only three points after a very good 8 and 12 qualification positions. Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher was the only rider of the team who scored a 13th position and got three points. Danny Webb crashed out after a good start in the first lap and wildcard rider Blake Leigh-Smith did a good job by finishing the race on the 21st position.

Marco Rigamonti – Niccolò Canepa Track Engineer - “In general the situation has improved compare to yesterday. We have found a type of tyres that Niccolò likes more and this gives him more trust. In addition we solved, even if not totally, the problem of top speed encountered yesterday. Tomorrow we will try to make the bike smoother coming out the corners to use even more power. Apart Stoner, until the last sector of the circuit we basically maintain the same level of all other Ducati riders. If tomorrow we will make it to recover that half of second we lose in the last intermediate we could be pretty satisfied.”
