Bayliss Takes Healthy Points Margin to Monza
08 May 2008
Following his double victory at Assen, Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) will come to Monza for the IDS Italian Round of the HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship this weekend with a healthy 70 point lead in the table over his closest rivals as the series reaches third distance. In eight races so far on his Ducati 1098 F08, the 39-year-old from Taree has taken the chequered flag on five occasions, finished second twice and has only been off the podium once, in race 2 at Losail. This sort of steamrolling form will guarantee Bayliss an ample cushion from his 178 points in the next few races should a challenge be mounted by the chasing four-cylinder contenders.

Interview With Charpentier WSS Champion
09 October 2006
Sebastien Charpentier (Winston Ten Kate Honda) won both the Magny-Cours race and the 2006 World Supersport Championship after a stunningly dramatic afternoon of action in his home country of France. The 22-lap race was delayed because of the late finish to SBK Race One, and as Charpentier and Kenan Sofuoglu (Winston Ten Kate Honda) led the running order in the early laps, the championship leader, Kevin Curtain, fell on lap eight. Curtain needed to finish only eighth in the race to win the series, but Charpentier was now clear to win both race and title - and did so in some style, from second placed Sofuoglu and Broc Parkes, Curtain's team-mate. In taking his second title in as many years, Charpentier made history by becoming the first rider to score back-to-back WSS title wins.

Pole For Charpentier With Sofuoglu Second
07 October 2006
Sebastien Charpentier (Winston Ten Kate Honda) lowered the best Supersport lap time at Magny-Cours once more to set pole for Sunday's 22-lap race, despite far from ideal conditions underfoot. It was his eighth pole of the 2006 season. Once again the track and weather conditions conspired to make it a difficult day for the Supersport entrants, and shortly after a very short spell of light rain appeared, Kenan Sofuoglu (Winston Ten Kate Honda) fell at a fast section of the 4.411km circuit, but he escaped without further injury to the leg he injured yesterday. Championship leader Kevin Curtain was only fifth on the grid, good news for Charpentier, who is still in with a chance to retain his championship crown.

Sebastien Charpentier and the Winston Ten Kate Honda team now look to Magny Cours, the last round of the Supersport World Championship, for their latest great challenge - to secure the Supersport world title for the fifth time in a row. Charpentier is some way behind Curtain, the championship leader at this moment, but with the Charpentier everyone saw in Imola, nothing is impossible. That performance was also possible thanks to the Honda CBR600RR and Charpentier’s team-mate, Kenan Sofuoglu, who will once more be trying to help the title fight by scoring another podium.

A superb display of formation flying from Sebastien Charpentier (Winston Ten Kate Honda) and Kenan Sofuoglu (Winston Ten Kate Honda) gave them the best result possible, with Charpentier's win keeping his championship hopes very much alive and Sofuoglu's second moving him up to third in the overall classification. Sofuoglu was the long-term leader, until Charpentier passed with seven laps to go, and other than a short excursion across the Variante Alta for Sofuoglu with just a handful of laps left, the race continued to a conclusion without major incident.

Sofuoglu Two For Two After Charpentier Retires For An Injury
10 September 2006
Kenan Sofuoglu (Winston Ten Kate Honda CBR600RR) once more showed his true talent and class by winning the German round of the championship, being content to sit behind long term leader Kevin Curtain until the 19th lap of 23, then pouncing to score his second win in as many weekends. His team-mate Sebastien Charpentier (Winston Ten Kate Honda CBR600RR), who is chasing the overall title, was in some difficulty in the early laps and ran off the circuit on the seventh lap. He went down the escape road at turn one, but took a wrong turn in the tyre barrier area, hit the tyres as he attempted to pass between them, and restarted well down on the leaders. He pulled in to retire from the race on lap nine dropping valuable championship points. Sofuoglu also scored the new track lap record, on lap four, with a 1’42.090.

Charpentier Looking To Step Back In Front Of Curtain
07 September 2006
The objectives of the Winston Ten Kate Honda Team at Lausitz, for the tenth round of the SS World Championship, could not be clearer. To recover at least seven points in the championship for one rider, and confirm the Assen victory for another. The principal attentions are of course concentrated on Sebastien Charpentier, who will try his best to recover this leadership in the World standings, helped by his physical condition, which is now back to normal like at the beginning of the season. In his assault on Curtain’s lead, the French rider will surely be able to count on Kenan Sofuoglu, who is putting together a great final part of the season, mostly thanks to his victory in Assen. The Eurospeedway track is also one of Kenan’s favourites, and he is determinate to achieve the same result he gathered in Assen.

Charpentier Back To Normal As Sofuoglu Seeks Improvement
31 August 2006
Sebastien Charpentier is now close to peak condition after recent injury, and his team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu is full of energy after his last two podium performances. With these strong credentials the Winston Ten Kate Honda Team is ready to compete in the ninth round of the Supersport World Championship, at the Assen circuit in Holland. Charpentier, the current World Champion, has now largely left behind the injury he suffered during Brno testing earlier this summer and is ready for this latest new challenge, partly because last year he missed victory at Assen and also because he wants to stand alone at the top of the standings, not share the lead as he does currently. For Turkish rider Kenan, the last two races have delivered great performances, each of which demonstrated his real value. Starting from Assen, these results may prove to be even more valuable as time goes on.
