Gearlink Kawasaki in the Points at Knockhill

Despite the changeable weather conditions, both Gearlink Kawasaki British Supersport riders were able to pick up more valuable championship points on their visit north of the border to Knockhill on Sunday, Chris Martin finishing the shortened race in eighth position and Steven Neate coming home in 10th place. The two qualifying sessions were run in differing weather conditions, with the faster times being set on a wet but drying track in the second period giving Steven his best qualification of the season in fifth place for a second row start and Chris placed on row four in 13th position.

Tinmouth Powers to Top 20 at Knockhill

The Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport competitors headed to Scotland for round eight of the highly competitive series, to the tiny circuit of Knockhill, situated in the picturesque region of Fife, north of Edinburgh. This was to be Jenny Tinmouth’s fourth consecutive weekend of racing, and the Ellesmere Port star was determined to put on a good show once more. Despite a crash in the early stages of final qualifying, Jenny rode an immaculate race to finish in 20th position, her first visit to the top twenty, and an impressive 4th position of the cup competitors.

Thompson Flys Flag for Team Appleyard/Macadam

Seventeen year old Jordan Thompson maintained the honour of Team Appleyard/Macadam this weekend at the eighth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Knockhill in Scotland as he scored yet more points in his Championship campaign. In an otherwise challenging weekend for the team, Jordan performed strongly throughout the weather-affected practice and qualifying sessions for the Relentless British 125GP Championship race, eventually posting the 10th quickest time. With the race held during one of the rare dry spells, the Cheshire rider started well and enjoyed a good race dicing with two other riders for top ten positions and brought his bike home in eleventh place earning five valuable Championship points.

A Crash and a Win for Wilson at Knockhill

Wilson had qualified well for the National Superstock affair and started from the head of the second row in fourth place. He lost a place to fifth during the early laps but made it through to third on lap five and was looking good for a podium finish. But he was being pushed hard by Kenny Gilbertson who challenged him for position at the hairpin on lap 11. Wilson from Boston was able to stave off the challenge and remained in third place until the next lap when he hit a neutral going into the hairpin causing him to lose the front and slide off into the gravel trap, his race over. A crash in the Superstock race followed by a win in the Henderson R1 Cup awaited Boston racer Ben Wilson at Knockhill in Scotland on Sunday.

Pole followed by Two Podiums for Mason at Knockhill

Gary Mason qualified first out of the Cup riders on the Q8Oils lubricated Quay Garage Racing Honda superbike at Scotland’s premier circuit and proceeded to secure a place on the podium in both races. Always strong in qualifying, Mason was not only the fastest Cup rider but started the race ahead of several racers from the main Superbike teams, including Rizla Suzuki’s Atsushi Watanabe and Hydrex Honda’s Guy Martin. Rain just before the first race left a dry line on the track on the other side of the grid from Gary, who was on slicks. With such a narrow dry line it took time to pass people, but once clear of the slower riders Mason showed his pace and took the win, setting the fastest lap into the bargain. Martin Jessopp of Riders Racing followed him in second, with Chris Burns on the MV Agusta in third place.

Haslam takes debut 2008 win for HM Plant Honda at Knockhill

Leon Haslam finally got his first Bennetts British Superbike win on theboard for HM Plant Honda at Knockhill today. The victory in race two made up for his retirement in the first race, which was due to a misfire. His team-mate Cal Crutchlow suffered a disappointing day. He crashed in race one, before having to start at the back of the grid for the re-start of race two. Despite this handicap the Coventry rider managed to scythe his way through the field to finish in seventh place. In the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 race Steve Brogan toon his CBR1000RR Fireblade to yet another win - his sixth in eight races. He faced a tougher battle in the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport event, where a bad start saw him way down the order. He managed to fight back to 11th place at the flag.

Victory for Sykes at Knockhill

Rizla Suzuik’s Tom Sykes took his third win in a row at the eighth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Knockhill in Scotland today, and then backed it up in a damp crash-littered shortened second race with a competitive fourth place. After a good start in race one, Sykes battled with Ducati's Michael Rutter on the damp but fast drying track, passing him on lap nine and never looking back. After winning the last two races at Oulton Park it marked a unique hat-trick of victories for the Huddersfield ace. Rizla Suzuki's Atsushi Watanabe started from 16th on the grid and was fighting for a season's best top 10 result when he was hit by another rider and crashed out unhurt.

Up & Down Weekend for Airwaves Ducati

Despite failing to finish the second race of the day, Airwaves Ducati rider Shane Byrne extended his lead in the British Superbike Championship today to 110 points after achieving a 2nd place finish in race one. Leon Camier finished 5th and 8th to secure valuable championship points. Race one was declared wet although rain stopped falling as the riders took off for their sighting lap. Both Airwaves Ducati riders initially got away well from the line, but Shane was to lose a couple of places by the first corner, slotting into 5th with Leon behind him in 6th. Shane pushed hard to get himself up to 2nd however, any further progress was to be hampered by a number of back markers. Leon managed to successfully withstand pressure from Michael Laverty on the Suzuki to cross the line in 5th.

Podium Debut for Harris

Karl 'Bomber' Harris took full advantage of the fast changing weather conditions to claim his first podium of the season at Round 8 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in Knockhill, Scotland today (10th August). Having qualified the Rob Mac Racing Yamaha in 9th position, Karl 'Bomber' Harris was reliant on a very strong start in both races for any hope of a podium finish. A dry Race One saw Karl make progress to push the Rob Mac Racing Yamaha into 7th position, bagging himself a further 9 points for his late Championship charge.

Another Podium for Rutter

Michael Rutter on the F08 Ducati secured a strong second place on the grid in Saturday's wet qualifying session and was eager to gain two good results at the short 1.2-mile Knockhill circuit. His team-mate John Laverty was ruled out of racing this weekend after he crashed at the fast Hislops' corner on Friday sustaining two broken ribs and knocking himself unconscious.

Stunning Results for Injured Andrews

Despite carrying broken bones in his hand and a badly damaged knee Simon Andrews put in a superb performance at round eight of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at the Scottish Circuit of Knockhill. Andrews crashed last week during testing at Mallory Park, in preparation for the World Superbike round at Brands Hatch, sadly missing out on the chance to perform at the World level, the youngster had a week to try and get fit for Knockhill. After digging deep and battling through the pain, he secured two solid results of an eighth and sixth respectively.

Knockhill Podium for Ellison

Following on from his second place finish at the last round at Oulton Park, Hydrex Bike Animal Honda rider James Ellison was once again on great form as he secured another podium finish in changeable conditions in round eight of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Knockhill in Scotland today. With bright blue skies coupled with the odd heavy downpour, it was always a problem for the riders but in the opening race, held in dry conditions, the 27 year old from Kendal diced with the leading bunch through the race eventually passing Michael Rutter in the latter stages to claim third position and with it his third podium of the season.

Co-ordit Yamaha - Knockhill

The Co-ordit Racing Team made the tough trip north of the border to contest the eighth round of the 2008 Bennetts British Superbike series this weekend (8th-10th August). Co-ordit Racing’s Dean Ellison left the 1.3 mile Knockhill circuit in despondent mood after a large dose of bad luck dictated a tough weekend at the 'office'. The Leicestershire based rider fell victim to a mechanical problem in race one, forcing him to retire into the pits with a rear sensor problem on his Yamaha YZF-R1 at the end of the fourth lap.

Varying Emotions for Relentless Suzuki at Knockhill

Ian Lowry produced a near faultless performance earlier today at Knockhill in Fife, putting his K8 GSX-R600 Relentless by TAS Suzuki on the top step of the British Supersport podium. Michael Laverty had a frustrating day in the Superbike class with only one points scoring finish to show for his front row qualifying position. Australian Cameron Donald made his Knockhill debut in the Superstock class, finishing today's race in eighth place.

James Westmoreland secured his best result ever this weekend at the tiny Scottish circuit, Knockhill, at round eight of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport series, where he gained a fantastic second place. After crashing out on Friday morning, usual Centurion Racing rider Dan Cooper dislocated his right shoulder and knocked himself out ruling him out of the race this weekend. A phone call to European Superstock 600 rider, 20-year-old Dan Linfoot and Linfoot was soon driving to Knockhill to replace the injured Cooper and gained a solid 13th place on his first outing on the Honda 600.

Teenager Nicole McAleer put the disastrous Oulton Park race weekend firmly behind her when she got a good start of the line at Knockhill during the Relentless 125 GP race; however this wasn't to be as the race only lasted one lap when two riders collided, both were unhurt.

Joe Breaks His Progress at Knockhill

Truck Links Yamaha rider, Joe Dickinson suffered a bitter mechanical blow forcing him to retire from Round 8 of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship at Knockhill, Scotland today (10 Aug). Having qualified his Yamaha YZF-R6 on the last spot of the third row of the grid in 12th position, Joe was confident of a strong top ten race finish. Despite the mixed weather conditions the race was declared dry. With the black clouds looming over the hills it was doubtful that the race would it's full distance before the rain set in again.

Fantastic Weekend Ends with Another Win for MV Agusta

The STP Motorsport MV Agusta British Superbike Team came away from a weekend of mixed fortunes at Knockhill with its season back on track following a podium finish in race one and a stunning race win in the rain interrupted second race in the Daily Star Superbike Cup. The Team’s mechanical jinx returned with an undiagnosed misfire on the new Superbike engine during qualifying forced the team to abandon plans to use it in the race. This left Chris Burns with his number two bike, which remains pretty much in superstock condition. Undeterred, he pushed hard from 17th place on the grid to finish 3rd in the Daily Star Superbike Cup and 15th overall, gaining another valuable Championship point for MV Agusta in its return to the Superbike stage.

BSBFans Wed at Knockhill

Suzuki's triple British Superbike Champion, John Reynolds, was the guest of honour today at the wedding of John Burns and Sandra Bennett at the Knockhill race track in Scotland. The couple from Newtownards in Northern Ireland are huge motorcycle race faces and were thrilled when John arrived at their wedding to wish them well. Knockhill was the first motorcycle race that the couple attended in 1996 so it was a fitting venue for their marriage.
