Sam Warren put in a stunning performance in the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup race to claim his maiden victory in the class, today 5th May. Adrian Coates on the Stoneyford Concrete Yamaha R1 took the holeshot from third on the grid as the riders teetered through the first set of corners on the slippery Oulton track surface. His lead was short lived as Emmett and Ben Wilson stole through, before the unlucky Irishman crashed out at the start of the second lap.

Rookie Warren Takes His Debut Win

Lasp Gasp Pole For Kirkham

Jon Kirkham stole pole position and £250 from Ben Wilson's clutches as a dramatic qualifying session for the third round of the The Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup drew to a close at Oulton Park (4 May). Gary Mason headed the timing sheets at the end of the earlier 25-minute Free Practice session. Veteran Superbike rider, Sean Emmett had stolen into an early lead posting a successive string of laps in the 1:54s bracket. However, with the rain diminishing, and a relatively dry line forming, Mason upped the ante to post a time of 1:50.862s on the ninth of his ten laps.

More Thrills for Oulton Park

The Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup will shatter the peace and tranquility of the Cheshire countryside this coming Bank Holiday (4th-5th May), as Oulton Park stages the third round of the 2008 Bennetts British Superbike Championship. The 2.692mile Oulton Park International circuit follows the natural contours of the former Oulton Hall's magnificent wooded parkland, and is one of the most physically demanding circuits on the calendar. The final sector from Clay Hill, through Druids and Lodge for the run up Deer Leap will be all important as the riders jostle for points and positions across the finish line.

Kirkham Claims Pole at Wet Thruxton

Jon Kirkham picked up his first £250 cheque for claiming pole position as an increased grid of 22 riders took to the Hampshire circuit of Thruxton to qualify for round two of the 2008 Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup. As the rain started to come down, Adrian Coates made the early running before Jon Kirkham stamped his authority on proceedings. With track time already under his belt today qualifying second in the National Superstock Championship, Kirkham was dialled in to the deteriorating conditions and put in a string of quick laps, posting the eventual pole lap time of 1:22.104 on his sixth circulation. The session remained fairly static until the final few minutes where the customary position swap began with a vengeance. Seasoned veterans Mason, Emmett and Nutt harried each other, vying for position on the front row. A little further down the field two Thruxton first-timers were beginning to make thier mark. Australian Shannon Etheridge put the pressure on Ben Wilson but eventually settled for an excellent eighth on his debut appearance.

The Season Starts in Anger at Thruxton

Nineteen riders will battle for strong qualifying positions once again this weekend (19-20 April), as the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup looks to finally cut its teeth on the British racing scene at Thruxton in Hampshire. Sean Emmett drew first blood at his home round of Brands Hatch a fortnight ago, setting the pace early on from former British Superbike rivals Jon Kirkham and Gary Mason. However, the dark horse of the round proved to be former double British Supermoto Champion, Sam Warren. The 25-year old qualified in third position and will look to replicate that strong display round the super-fast 2.356mile circuit.

Henderson R1 Cup Gathers Pace

Croft Circuit offered the inaugural Henderson R1 Cup competitors the chance to familiarise themselves with their brand new Yamaha YZF-R1 race prepared machines on Thursday (20 March). After months of hard work and careful planning, Rob McElnea proved that it is possible to emulate the hugely successful Virgin Media R6 Cup at the next level. Competition will be fierce as the competitive, cost effective racing package opens the grid to a much wider range of competitors. Gary Mason has returned from a year racing in AMA and fresh from victory in the Daytona 8-hour Endurance race. He will take to the grid with seasoned BSB regulars Ben Wilson, Jon Kirkham and Marty Nutt. 2007 British Superstock runner-up Adrian Coates is also keen to lift the Championship trophy but stiff competition could well come in the form of the double British Supermoto Champion and road racing rookie, Sam Warren.

Dean Thomas To Manage Mission Racing

Motorcycle racer Dean Thomas has just announced his retirement from British Superbike racing after a successful 10 year career. Dean, who has been riding for various teams this year, is to front his own two man team, as Team Manager next season in British Supersport. This new team will be called Mission Racing. Dean, along with his business partner have confirmed Sam Warren and Nick Medd for their 2008 team.

Iddon & Hodgson Are Crowned Champions At Silverstone

The Final round of the British Supermoto Championship held at Silverstone on a heavily modified Stowe Circuit, saw some decent weather, with both the Saturday afternoon qualifying and Sunday’s racing held in breezy, but otherwise almost perfect conditions. Saturday qualifying saw several riders heading the provisional leader board, as the times tumbled on the flowing Northamptonshire tarmac, Christian Iddon (Factory Aprilia SXV550) set the expectations for the weekend as he produced the winning 1.06.21 lap, to claim the overnight Pole Position.

British & National Supermoto Championships - Three Sisters Race Report

Round five of the British Supermoto Championship held at Three Sisters Race Circuit, at last saw some decent weather, with both the Saturday afternoon qualifying and Sunday’s racing held in breezy, but otherwise almost perfect sunny conditions. Saturday qualifying was an amazingly close affair, with several riders heading the provisional leader board, until Sam Warren (SR Off-Road Aprilia SXV550) punched in a blinder of a lap just before the session close, to claim the overnight Pole Position. Coming on the heels of his overall victory at Teesside at round 4, it appeared that Warren had laid the gauntlet down to the rest of the field, but in the end, his weekend did not quite go to plan.

British & National Supermoto Championships - Three Sisters - Preview

After two action-packed weekends almost back to back, the third weekend in the 'Summer of Sliding' takes place this weekend, the 28th & 29th July at Three Sisters Circuit near Wigan. Probably the most decisive weekend in terms of championship points, Round 5 of the 2007 British Supermoto Championship looks certain to live up to the previous rounds in terms of 'no quarter given', bar to bar action whatever the weather!

British & National Supermoto Championships - Teesside Race Report

Teesside Autodrome near Middlesbrough was the setting for round 4 of the British Supermoto Championship, the North East motor sport venue looking forward to hosting a round of one of 2007’s most hotly contested motorcycle racing series. Despite several forced alterations to the original proposed track layout just before the event, the circuit still presented a new and challenging venue for riders in this year’s series.

British & National Supermoto Championships - Lydden Hill Preview

Following closely in the wheel tracks of the last event at Lydden Hill just over a week ago, Round 4 of the British Supermoto Championship supported by Round 5 of the National Supermoto Championship, both take place this coming weekend; the 14th/15th July, at Teesside Autodrome near Middlesbrough. Young Australian hope Joe Harvey aboard a Halsion Lincoln Aprilia SXV550 is the only wild card scheduled to join the 28 permanent riders for this round of the series and Harvey will be hoping that his second outing as a wildcard will bear more fruit than his debut at Lydden Hill, which was dogged by machine troubles and ever-changing, non-Australian type weather conditions, which never really allowed the young Aussie charger to get into his stride.

British Supermoto Championship - Round 3 Lydden Hill

Round 3 of the British Supermoto Championship took place at Lydden Hill Circuit in Kent with every type of weather condition on offer over the weekend. The regular permanent riders were joined by three wildcard riders for this meeting in the form ex-World Motocross competitor Jochen Jasinski from Germany (Husaberg 650), young Aussie hopeful Joe Harvey (Aprilia SXV 450) and Belgian 2006 national S1 Champion Rob Simpson (KTM 450).
