Charpentier On Pole
09 September 2007
HANNspree Ten Kate Honda's Sébastien Charpentier secured the 22nd pole position of his World Supersport career at the Eurospeedway Lausitz in Germany today. The Frenchman will start tomorrow's 23-lap race from the top spot on the grid with team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu by his side in second position. Yesterday's light drizzle turned to persistent rain today making riding conditions slippery and dangerous. Seventeen riders - including Sofuoglu - crashed out of the morning free practice. Although the rain stopped in the afternoon, the track surface did not dry out in time for the official qualifying session. Most riders opted to take it steady and the slower lap times resulted in yesterday's results determining the grid line-up.
