Michelin's Finger's Up to MotoGP Single Tyre Rule

Michelin has decided not to submit a bid to the governing body of the MotoGP World Championship. At the same time, Michelin regrets not being able to contribute to the organizers’ important discussions to improve rider safety and reduce costs. The spirit of competition has always been central to Michelin. Motor sports at the highest level are useful because competition among several tire manufacturers is a valuable stimulus for developing increasingly high-performance tires that will one day equip customer vehicles. Tires play a key role in a vehicle’s performance and can make a considerable difference. This competition among manufacturers helps to make racing exciting.

GSE Racing Angry at Ducati Weight Penalty Rule Change

GSE Racing has expressed their deep disappointment, and frustration, after the sudden announcement by the MSVR/MCRCB to alter the technical regulations to the Superbike class in this year's British Superbike Championship. The rule change which increases the minimum weight of the twin cylinder Superbike by 10kg to 175kg has in the opinion of GSE Racing been made without any supporting performance related reason or prior consultation with the team, which in their opinion is another clear demonstration of the lack of communication between the race organisers and teams.

AMA Overturns Penalties

AMA Racing has overturned the penalties assessed to riders Martin Cardenas, Jake Holden and Aaron Yates at the season-ending AMA Superbike Championship event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Sept. 16, 2007 after conducting a thorough review of the evidence submitted in appeal.

BSB Single Make Tyre Supplier Regulation Announced

Further to the recent statement concerning the evaluation of a possible single make tyre supplier regulation, the MCRCB Board of Directors has met and sanctioned this regulation for application in the 2008 and 2009 British Superbike and Supersport Championships.

AMA Announces Proposed Road Racing Rules Package

AMA Racing has issued its proposed 2009 road racing rules package and made it available on-line. Additionally, as part of its new rulesmaking procedure implemented in 2006, AMA Racing road racing credential holders can comment on the proposed rules. The comment period will run through August 31, 2007. American Motorcyclist Association President/CEO, Rob Dingman commented on the new rules as well as the rulesmaking process. “This package is the result of the collaborative efforts of key AMA Racing staff members and the Road Racing Rules Committee,” said Dingman. “These rules reflect the goals set forth by the AMA’s Racing Committee and were created specifically to support the new AMA Superbike class structure announced in March.”

New SBK Technical Rules for 2008 – Twin cylinders To 1200cc

A decision has now finally made with regards to changes to the technical rules for SBK, and with all the talk and threats of teams leaving the championship and going over to MotoGP or withdrawing from international racing all-together, will we now see Alstare Corona Suzuki's Francis Batta and Ronald Ten Kate, manager of Hannspree Ten Kate Honda finally make up their minds?

Proposes New Sound-level Standards For Pro & Amateur Racing Events

As part of the American Motorcyclist Association's long-term commitment to racer and fan safety, as well as improving the overall impression of the sport of motorcycle competition, the AMA is proposing a plan to reduce the sound levels at professional and amateur motorcycle racing events nationwide.

2007 NORA Sport National Supermoto Championship

After consultation with motorcycle manufacturer representatives, several leading teams and other interested parties, the organisers of this year's British Supermoto Championship have confirmed evolutionary changes for 2007. These changes will be written into the Championship Regulations which are scheduled to be available shortly. The changes do not affect the supporting 2007 NORA Sport National Supermoto Championship.

Flat Track And AMA Supermoto Rules Committee Meetings Held

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) held the first meetings of the AMA Flat Track Rules Committee and AMA Supermoto Rules Committee at its corporate headquarters in Pickerington, Ohio on Wednesday, Sept. 13, and Thursday, Sept. 14, respectively. Participants in the AMA Flat Track Rules Committee meeting included team owner Ed Adkins, Pat Alexander of American Suzuki Motor Corp., rider Shawn Baer, rider/team owner Chris Carr, tuner Greg Crow, Kevin Crowther of AMA Pro Racing, technical consultant George Halyak, Michael Lloyd representing Aprilia, tuner Dale Lineweaver, Anne Paluso of Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Kurt Nicoll of KTM North America, and former rider/promoter Gene Romero. Keith McCarty of Yamaha Motor Corp., was not in attendance.

Motocross/Supercross Rules Committee Meeting Held

The inaugural meeting of the AMA Motocross/Supercross Rules Committee was held in Irvine, Calif., on Thursday, Sept. 7. AMA CEO Patti DiPietro chaired the meeting and commented on the progress made by the group: “Similar to the initial strides made by the Road Racing Rules Committee which held its first meeting in July, I’m encouraged by the outcome of yesterday’s Motocross/Supercross meeting. Every member participated enthusiastically and we discussed a variety of important issues facing the AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross Championships.”

Formula Xtreme To Expand Equipment Eligibility - Revised

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and AMA Pro Racing today announced changes to the equipment eligibility list for AMA Formula Xtreme beginning with the 2007 racing season. In an AMA Pro Racing Press Release dated Aug. 11, 2006, an error was made in the specifications for the 990cc-1100cc 4-stroke/air-cooled machine. AMA Formula Xtreme is a support class of the AMA Superbike Championship, the nation’s premier motorcycle road racing series.
