West & Hacking Ready For Laguna Showdown

The US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca will mark the MotoGP debut of AMA Superbike contender Jamie Hacking, who will deputise for the injured John Hopkins aboard Kawasaki's Ninja ZX-RR this weekend. Hacking, who received the call-up to MotoGP during his 37th birthday celebrations two weeks ago, has already impressed aboard the Ninja ZX-RR during a two-day, pre-race test at the Autopolis circuit in Japan, where he broke the lap record. The three-time AMA champion arrives in Laguna determined to match, or even exceed, the performance of his Kawasaki teammate, Roger Lee Hayden, who finished tenth as a wild card rider in this race twelve months ago.

Kawasaki Celebrate A Top Ten Triple At Laguna

The Kawasaki Racing Team today saw all three of their riders come home in the top ten at the US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. Randy de Puniet claimed 6th place, Anthony West 7th and wild card Roger Lee Hayden, 10th. In a stunning, 32-lap race at the California circuit, the trio of 800cc Ninja ZX-RR pilots put on a great show: consistently in the middle of the action, dicing with Edwards, Tamada, Nakano, Barros and each other.

Kawasaki Squad Out In Force At Laguna

The Red Bull US Grand Prix practice sessions began today, in preparation for Sunday’s race: the 11th round of the 2007 MotoGP world championship. With Kawasaki running three bikes at the event, Randy de Puniet and Anthony West were joined by wildcard AMA Superbike and Supersport regular, Roger Lee Hayden, on the 3.61km, Laguna Seca circuit and it was a constructive day for all the crews.

Three 800cc Ninja ZX-RR bikes will be on the grid this weekend as American Kawasaki AMA Superbike and Supersport racer, Roger Lee Hayden, joins Randy de Puniet and Anthony West for the Californian showdown.

Roger Lee Hayden, brother of current MotoGP world champion Nicky, will ride a factory Ninja ZX-RR at the Red Bull US Grand Prix later this month, as a wildcard rider. Already representing the Japanese motorcycle manufacturing giant in both the AMA Superbike and Supersport series in America, the 24 year old from Kentucky will race a third bike for the Kawasaki Racing Team at the event in California, alongside regular riders, Randy de Puniet and Anthony West.

The heir apparent to this year’s Pro Honda Oils Supersport Championship presented by Shoei, Hayden instead broke his leg in an early season crash. However, as the championship moves to Mid-Ohio this Sunday, Aug. 6, Hayden is nearly fully recovered and hoping to become the first rider to win three straight Mid-Ohio Supersport races.

Points Leader Hayden To Miss California Speedway Supersport Race

Pro Honda Oils Supersport Championship presented by Shoei leader Roger Lee Hayden will miss this weekend’s race at California Speedway following a high-speed crash at Barber Motorsports Park this past Sunday, which left the Kawasaki rider with a badly broken right leg. With Hayden out, perhaps until June, Yamaha’s Jamie Hacking becomes the de facto series leader in this, round three of the 11-race series, which takes place on Sunday, April 30 in Fontana, Calif.
