Legend and motorcycles racer Robert Dunlop has died after suffering severe chest injuries at the North West 200 in Thursday's practice session while chasing what would have been his 16th North West 200 trophy. Dunlop and the other riders were travelling at speeds of about 160mph as they approached the Mathers Cross section of the course in Portrush. The 47 year olds bike appeared to seize and lock up and he was thrown over the handlebars, throwing him onto the track and into the path of another rider (who suffered a broken leg and concussion). Robert died of his injuries shortly after arriving at the Causway Hospital, at nearby Coleraine at 22:00 BST.
The 2008 British Superbike series fires into action this weekend and Phoenix, the official UK importers of Arai, are pleased to announce that the world's leading helmet brand will be supporting some of the top competitors in UK motorcycle road racing.
