Rob Barber Fastest Newcomer at Cancelled Ulster GP
19 August 2008
Rob returned from the Ulster Grand Prix with mixed feels after it was cancelled due to the terrible weather North Ireland suffered on Saturday. He commented ‘There was no other option but to cancel the races as the weather was so bad. Rob was really disappointed as he was consistently the fastest Newcomer in all dry Practice sessions. That was even more impressive when you consider the other newcomers Matts Nilsson, Jamies Hillier, Ollie Linsdall, Christian Elkin, and Colin Wilcocks.

Rob Barber Exceeds Expectations at IOM TT
12 June 2008
After a bad start to Rob’s TT. The next 4 races would exceed everyone’s expectations including Rob's. Superstock race: The weather wasn’t brilliant as it was cloudy but very hot and humid, also damp under the trees. Rob set of 65th on the road and quickly set a fast pace doing an 118mph average first lap aboard his Dave Cottrell Suzuki GSXR 1000. But he was struggling with his visor steaming up due to the humid conditions so was having to mess with his visor throughout the race, opening for slow sections and closing it for fast sections. Not letting that hinder him, he pushed on at good pace to finish the race in 27th doing a 118.896mph average lap on his last lap achieving a Bronze replica for finished within 110% of the winners pace.

Rob Barber‚s Happy with First Couple of Sessions of TT 08
28 May 2008
Rob wasn’t too happy during the first untimed session on Saturday as the bikes suspension where to hard. After a conversation with Andy White of KAIS performance about what to do with the suspension, Rob made some major change to both bike on Andy’s advice for Monday nights first qualifying. Rob first went out on the Dave Cottrell Suzuki GSXR 1000 as he was keen to get as many laps as possible on this bike as he has no experience on a 1000 at the TT. Rob was really pleased with the changed made and did 113mph lap from a standing start and bedding new brake pads in. On his second lap he did 115.5mph lap his quickest ever lap of the TT.

Rob Barber Triumph's In Junior And Senior TT
12 June 2007
Rob had an incredible ride in both the junior and the senior although the bad communication of the officials robbed him of a bronze replica. The Triumph never missed a beat and was outstanding though out the NW200 and the TT. He wouldn’t hesitate on riding one again and would prefer it over the jap bikes.

Rob Barber IOM TT Superstock Race
06 June 2007
All the TT races are going to be hard this year as I’m on a standard 750 in the 1000 superstock race and the Triumph is std in the Junior race. Even so I managed a 115.403mph on my opening lap. I rode as hard as I could, passing 3 people on my first lap. Second lap I was again steady with an 115.094mph. The pit stop was good only problem was my strap on the fresh helmet hadn’t clicked in properly so it was slapping my neck and distracting me a little bit. Bruce Anstey was the first person to lap me at Cronke-vodde Straight, I hung with him until Hanleys. Second to Lap me was John McGuinness at Kirk Micheal so I followed him to Bishops court, it was really good learning from them.

Rob Barber's TT Thursday Night Practice
02 June 2007
Thursday Night Practice was quicker again. Thursday night practice had a hold up of about 30mins due to road traffic accidents and one person suffering a heart attack which meant all 3 helicopters where being used. Until at least one was free we couldn’t start. Weather looked really good though.

Rob Barber's IOM TT Tuesday night Qualify
31 May 2007
Tuesday night qualifying started on time. I went out on the MTC Exhaust 750 first tonight as I wonted to get comfortable before trying the Robinsons of Rochdale triumph with the suspension changes. The weather looked good so I think we where going to get a clear night with out any rain. The 750 again was working well and I was concentrating on a couple of sections Glen Helen, 11th to 13th mile stone, and Bishopcourt. Every lap I do I feel better in places. Second lap on the 750 we got slowed down by crash at Lorrel bank and waterworks. Every session I’ve been out in people keep crashing in the same place. I think I’ll keep it easy through them. A couple of friend where watching at the gooseneck so I was beeping the horn. I was really enjoying it.

Rob Barber's First Night Of TT Practice
28 May 2007
My First time on the TT circuit, after a 20 minute delay. Steve Plater and Kieth Amor where in the first group and I was in the Second group. Our first lap is controlled behind a travelling Marshall in groups of 4. I had decided to ride my MTC Exhaust 750 Suzuki first has it would allow me to be lazy with the gears, so I could concentrate on the TT course. I just took it steady the marshal looked really smooth the only problem was there where to other newcomers in front who obscured the view weren’t really on the marshal’s lines. Anyway I made around a lap.

Rob’s finish was the best finish yet in the European GSX-R Cup he was a little disappointed with not achieving the podium but a catalogue of problems hamper him. After going pole early on in the first Qualifying session. He was having front end problems and was struggling to go faster. Towards the end of the session he had dropped down to 5th place so he decided to go out and try and get one fast lap. On his last lap, through the first to sectors he was coming up second fastest. Until he crashed at Priory. A high speed corner coming into the Silverstone complex. He lost the front due to him slightly running off line and his suspension problems. The Bike was quite badly damaged.
