Road Camera Income Should Finance National Collision Investigation Board

Britain needs a national collision investigation board in order to deliver better road safety and monitor the success of costly programmes like the current THINK! campaign. That is the powerful conclusion reached in a paper produced by senior Sussex police officer Inspector Simon Labbett who made good use of a grant from the charitable arm of GEM Motoring Assist (formerly the Guild of Experienced Motorists) to study accident investigation techniques in the USA.

Awards for Motorcycle Awareness Videos

The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG UK) announces its summer media awards for motorcycle safety awareness videos. The categories range from the Golden “Oscars” to the “Raspberry” Award. The Raspberry Award goes to the latest Transport for London (TfL) video and campaign “The Day You Went To Work” or as stated by the narrator “The legs you’ll never use again”.

Melting Roads Surfaces – Riders Take Care

The Motorcycle Action Group has re issued its 2005 press release regarding the use of crushed rock dust in this year’s heat wave by councils to combat the problem of melting road surfaces. In the summer of 2005 the Motorcycle Action Group was made aware that some of the country's roads were beginning to melt due to a heat wave and that in parts of County Durham, Cumbria and Northumberland councils had been sending out gritting lorries to spread crushed rock dust in an attempt to combat the problem.

The DVD will be officially launched in Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha's hospitality facility at Oulton Park, Cheshire, tomorrow lunchtime (Saturday 22 July) at the ninth round of the British Superbike Championship.

Captains Of Industry And MCI Take The Bikesafe Challenge In National Motorcycle Week 2006

Bikesafe are challenging senior members of the motorcycle industry to a BikeSafe assessment as part of the National Motorcycle Week activities. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Piaggio, Watsonian Squire and Norman Hyde are the manufacturers who will be participating on 18th July. Staff from the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI), based in Coventry, will be joining them too, as they are put through their paces by some of the most experienced motorcycle cops in the UK.

Figures released by The Department for Transport [29/06/06] show that the number of motorcycle user casualties on British roads is continuing to fall, despite continued growth in motorcycling overall.

Motorcycle Industry Targets Young Road User Safety

The Motor Cycle Industry's educational resource, 'LINKS - connecting Citizenship and Road User Education' which is being distributed free of charge to all secondary schools, will help government achieve new targets set for the 'Every Child Matters' initiative. In addition to LINKS being relevant to young people today, it is a resource that can work to supplement schools efforts to integrate classroom activities into this new Government initiative.
