Rizla Suzuki is hoping to make the most of the top speed advantage of its GSX-R1000s at this weekend’s seventh round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Snetterton in Norfolk, an ex- airfield circuit boasting a kilometer long straight that sees the bikes touch 200mph. The Rizla Suzuki race bikes of Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and James Haydon have consistently been amongst the fastest through the speed traps at all the previous rounds of the Championship. Shakey secured a 4th and 5th place at the previous round at Mallory Park while James was forced to miss the action following a shoulder injury sustained during the Friday practice session. He has been undergoing intense physiotherapy to be ready for Snetterton.
John Hopkins roared to a fantastic second place during today’s qualifying session for the Polini Grand Prix of China to give Rizla Suzuki MotoGP its second front row start in consecutive races.
Rizla Suzuki’s Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and James Haydon completed nearly 400 laps during the last two days during a private test at the Guadix circuit in southern Spain. Haydon completed 209 laps and helped to push the development of the GSX-R1000 another step forward. Shakey clocked 181 laps of the 3km long track that boasts fast and slow corners as well as a 750m long straight. He ran through a multitude of tests and is happy to have made significant progress to the base set-up on his GSX-R1000.
