Max Nagl Unlucky at Home MX1 GP

Red Bull KTM rider Max Nagl got off to a great start in the MX1 GP of Germany in Teutschenthal on Sunday but technical difficulties denied him the chance of a probable podium. The German factory rider took a confident holeshot in the first moto and was having no problems sticking with the front riders when technical difficulties foiled his chances of raking in points.

Tyla Rattray the Red Bull KTM Hero of MX2

Red Bull KTM's South African rider Tyla Rattray came, saw and conquered the rough track at Teutschenthal, Germany on Sunday with a 2-1 result for overall victory. Rattray's second race left no-one in doubt that he is hot property and determined to go to his home GP in South Africa as the holder of the red number placte as the championship leader. Rattray came in second in the first race behind title holder and arch rival Antonio Carioli but was supreme in the second, amassing a lead of some 30 seconds in the closing stages, enough to coast home and enjoy the adoration of the crowd on the way back to the chequered flag.

Esteve Rabat Leads in Rain-Soaked 125 cc Race at Assen

The 125cc Grand Prix at Assen on Saturday was eventful and plagued with changing weather that red flagged the race, punctuated with crashes after just nine laps. Five laps were raced in part two for the final result.
KTM rider Esteve Rabat held onto the lead in the second part of the race and looked set for a top finish when he ran wide in the final stages and had to settle for sixth. Repsol KTM rookie Marc Marquez was also a victim of the weather. He crashed in the final stages of the first laps after having battled his way to fifth position. He was unable to get back to the pits with his bike in time for the restart and missed out on the second heat altogether. Red Bull KTM rider Randy Krummenacher also crashed in the first part of the race, but continued with a lonely ride at the end of the field. His efforts were rewarded after the re-start, when the Swiss teenager managed to score nineteenth position.

Tyre Problem Slows Mika Kallio at Dutch 250cc GP

Mika Kallio rode a courageous 250 cc GP at Assen on Saturday coming from behind to third place before all hopes of a podium faded when he experienced tyre troubles. In what has been a difficult weekend for the Finnish championship leader he made a dramatic recovery from the difficulties in setting up his Red Bull KTM 250 for the fast and challenging Assen circuit. He stormed to the front group of riders, holding fifth, fourth and even third place on the opening laps. But the tyre trouble intervened. He slipped back to finish in seventh place, which left him holding onto his world championship lead by one single point. Team-mate Hiroshi Aoyama, who had been even further back on the grid in thirteenth position, also worked his way up through the ranks to eventually finish in sixth place ahead of Kallio. Repsol KTM rider Julian Simon rode to a lonely tenth place.

Raffaele de Rosa Seventh in Assen GP125

KTM's riders in the 125 cc category launched the weekend's GP racing at Assen, Netherlands confidently in qualifying ahead of Saturday's race at the Dutch circuit. Raffaele de Rosa (Onde 2000 KTM) clocked seventh fastest, Randy Krummenacher (Red Bull KTM) in eleventh and Esteve Rabat (Repsol KTM) in fifteenth place, positions that remained unchanged on the second day of practice due to adverse weather conditions. Rabat's 15-year-old team-mate Marc Marquez, who had made history one week ago as the youngest Spanish rider ever on a Grand Prix podium, was one of the very few riders in this class to improve on his previous best time in final practice, and now holds eighteenth place on the grid.

Kallio 11th & Still Chasing Best Set-Up Ahead of Assen

Red Bull KTM 250 star and world championship leader Mika Kallio found himself in an unusual eleventh spot in qualifying for the Dutch TT and is still chasing the best set-up for Saturday's GP. The 25-year-old Finn, winner of the British Grand Prix one week ago, found the set-up requirements of the Assen circuit with its high grip level and its banked corners completely different to the English Donington Park raceway. Kallio kept comparing two chassis versions and numerous set-up solutions, but also lost valuable track-time due to the changing weather conditions. He will try further modifications in the warm-up practice session Saturday morning.

GNCC Bike Series - Round 8

Red Bull KTM Factory Team riders David Knight and Justin Williamson earned podium positions at the eighth round of the GNCC Series. Williamson earned his best finish of the season in the XC-2 class after getting a great start and remaining up front all day. Williamson came around the first turn in 4th, found his rhythm and quickly moved into 2nd. On the second to last lap Williamson passed for the lead and looked like he might take his first win of the season when he crashed into a bush and lost 20 seconds. The time lost was all it took for fellow KTM rider Jason Thomas to pass Williamson to take the win. Williamson finished 2nd overall just eight seconds behind Thomas. Williamson's 2nd place finish moved him up to 5th place in overall points.

Stefan Everts Test at Orehova Vas for KTM

A month before the motocross race track in Orehova Vas will host the tenth event for the FIM MX3 World Championship and the UEM EMX2 European Championship, special guests visited the track. Stefan Everts Ten time motocross World Champion Stefan Everts decided to visit Slovenia with his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team to do some test practice. The former Belgian GP rider was satisfied with the conditions of the World Championship scene.

Testing Weekend for Red Bull KTM at GNCC

Red Bull KTM rider and current series point's leader, David Knight, and his teammate Nate Kanney had a successful weekend at the seventh round of the GNCC series, both finishing inside the top five. Although it wasn't the dominating race weekend most fans are used to seeing Knight pull off, he did start out well, rounding the first turn in 2nd place while Kanney was right behind in 3rd. For the first few laps, the two Red Bull KTM Factory riders stayed within the top three on this fast-paced course. At one point Knight escaped with the lead as he and Josh Strang battled back and forth for that front spot.

Front Row Start for KTM's Mik Kallio at Mugello

Red Bull KTM 250 star Mika Kallio topped the time sheets for most of the final 250 cc session. But he narrowly missed the pole when three fast competitors overtook to leave him on the front row in fourth place for Sunday's 250 cc Grand Prix of Italy. Kallio's team-mate Hiroshi Aoyama crashed early on in the session and had to continue with his spare bike, but is nevertheless confident for the race after finishing in tenth position.

Nagl Wins Second MX1 Heat at Italian GP

Red Bull KTM factory rider Max Nagl of Germany was on top form in the second race of the MX1 Grand Prix of Italy in Mantova on Sunday to be first past the checkered flag ahead of David Philippaerts and Marc de Reuver. On a day where rain attacked the track in the second half of the MX1 competition, Nagl put in one of his most impressive performances for the current season for overall fifth place on the day. It was a significant improvement on his twelfth ranking in the first race and the first time since joining the MX1 class that he had lead the rest of the field home.

Rattray & Searle Take Minor Podium's in Mantova

Red Bull KTM factory rider Tyla Rattray of South Africa overcame flu to race to second podium place in the Grand Prix of Italy on the sandy Mantova circuit on Sunday while teammate Tommy Searle was third. Despite a formidable finish by title holder Antonio Cairoli of Italy in the second MX2 race of the day, Tyla was able to amass 42 championship points to keep ownership of the coveted red number plate as the championship leader. After five rounds, Rattray now has 199 points, a mere three point lead on his arch rival, while Tommy Searle, his Red Bull KTM factory teammate is close behind with 191 points. Searle finished third in Mantova.

Wet Weather Turns 125cc GP in France into a Two Episode Affair

Riders in the 125 cc French Grand Prix on Sunday had their race scrapped in the final stages when rain started to fall and stewards brought out the red flags. The French Grand Prix for the small bikes was then re-run as a five-lap dash and Red Bull KTM rider Randy Krummenacher was able to make the best of the tricky, damp conditions to score his first top ten finish of the year. The Swiss teenager, who had finished back in twentieth in the first part of the race, the results of which were negated, made a crucial last-minute tyre change on the starting grid. This turned out to be just the right decision and the Swiss rider, now fully recovered fro his recent spleen operation hunted down a large number of his opponents.

Kallio Plays Safe & Scores Points on Damp Le Mans Circuit

Red Bull KTM 250 star Mika Kallio decided to play it safe in damp and difficult conditions at the French 250 cc Grand Prix on Sunday to finish fifth and consolidate his leading position in the championship standings. On a day where fickle weather conditions prevailed at the famous French racing circuit, Kallio started with cut slicks and battled his way through the second group of riders when the track started to dry out. He even looked set for his fifth podium finish of the year when he swept past his opponents Mattia Pasini and Yuki Takahashi with four laps to go.

Raffaele de Rosa Top KTM Rider in China

Racing on a damp and tricky surface in the 125 cc race of the Grand Prix of China, Team Onde 2000 KTM rider Raffaele de Rosa established himself in the top five but crashed in the thirteenth lap. He then finished in ninth to be the top KTM rider. Repsol KTM riders Esteve Rabat and Marc Marquez fought hard against each other to finish in eleventh and twelfth position, ISPA KTM Aran rider Tomoyoshi Koyama was the fourth KTM 125 rider within the point rankings in thirteenth place.

Double Victory for Mika Kallio & Hiroshi Aoyama

Red Bull KTM 250 stars Mika Kallio and Hiroshi Aoyama mastered treacherous conditions in today's wet Grand Prix of China to score a fantastic double victory for KTM. It was the second one-two for the Austrian manufacturer in the 250 cc category after Aoyama won the German Grand Prix last year ahead of his team-mate. Pole-sitter Alvaro Bautista had established an early lead, but when the young Spaniard crashed out on the ninth lap of the race, Kallio had a clear track ahead and rode to a comfortable win despite increasing grip problems on the drying tarmac.

Pourcel & Cairoli Win Portuguese Thriller at Agueda

The Portuguese Grand Prix got underway today in front of 18000 fans who saw two Italians David Philippaerts (MX1) and Antonio Cairoli (MX2) clinch the World Championship lead at the end of an eventful weekend. The MX1 Grand Prix was won by Sebastien Pourcel, to close a perfect weekend as he clocked also the pole yesterday. Philippaerts was second overall while countryman Cairoli won the MX2 Grand Prix from KTM fellow riders Tyla Rattray and Tommy Searle.

Ratteray-Cairoli Wrestle Set for Toda’s Portuguese GP

It was a great opening day in Agueda, the host of the third Grand Prix of 2008 which welcomed the Motocross collective with very hot weather conditions. Sebastien Pourcel clocked a stunning pole position in the MX1 class, collecting his second consecutive Lovemytime Pole Position Award after his first pole of 2008 in Spain last weekend. Tyla Rattray is also on a season high, winning his third consecutive qualifying heat and bringing home the Lovemytime Qualifying Award together with his closest rival in the Championship, Antonio Cairoli, who won the qualifying moto one to get his first win of 2008.

KTM riders went into the first 125 cc GP of the 2008 racing season hopeful of good results but came away at the end of the first ever night race empty-handed.
